A WET MUDDY DAY AND WHY DO THEY HAVE TO CLOSE SO MANY NATURE AREAS??

'CAN I COME OUT AND PLAY IN THE RAIN MOM'
Rains began Sunday night so Pheebs and I had us another wet start this morning.  Even wetter than Sunday.  Jeep was a mess anyway so it didn't matter if we stayed on pavement or not so it was off down a number of soupy country roads we went splish splashing ourselves along in the pouring rain.
YES IT WAS A SOUPY ROAD DRIVE FOR MOST OF OUR JOURNEY
EVEN THIS OLD BARL LOOKED A LITTLE DISMAL
I THOUGHT A COUPLE CEMETERY PHOTOS FITTED THE MORNINGS MOOD
JUST AN OLD PILE OF SOGGY BOULDERS HANGING OUT IN A FIELD
COLORFUL SIGNS OF SPRING HERE
First a stop at the Bayfield Garage for gas plus made an appointment for next Monday to have the Jeep's brakes looked at.  I can feel a push back pulsing in the brake pedal.  We bought our 07 Jeep Liberty April 14th 2015 and haven't had to have the brakes checked until now.  It has been a great little car for us so far.  Here's a link to the day we bought our Jeep Liberty.....it turned into a real Nail Biter at the end.
THERE IS SOME NICE HORSE FARMS IN THE AREA
IT'S NOT OFTEN WE SEE CHICKENS ANYMORE
We wandered ourselves through Clinton, picked up a Tim Horton coffee to go and headed out around the Hullett Marsh.  All roads into the Marsh are closed to the public now because of Covid-19.  Makes me wonder why they have to close these types of wide open nature spaces.  All kinds of room and it's not like one can't step off the trail six feet to let someone else by.  If one even meets another oncoming person on the trail that is.  I'm still Okay with most everything.....unless they start to block off of country roads!!
LARGE BALES OF STRAW BLOCK ROADS INTO THE HULLETT MARSH
MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET A SMART CAR BETWEEN THOSE BALES
THE RAIN JUST KEPT COMING
With the countryside looking very drearily drab it was again a challenge finding a few acceptable photos but my knowing what to look for was of course a big help.  Basic rule of thumb for cloudy days is look for photos on the ground.
CEDAR TREES ARE MY FAV:))
STOPPED FOR A WALK ON A COUNTRY ROAD
DEFINITELY MUDDIED UP SOME PAWS AND SHOES HERE
Rain finally ended and we were able to stop for a short walk on a country road.  Nearby trees were alive with the melodious sound of chirping birds.  They were glad today's rain had finally stopped too.  Pheebs and I were home again about 10:30.  I think we had a few sunny breaks early afternoon but I'm not sure if I'm getting my days mixed up.  Weather patterns these past few days have been somewhat repetitious.
SUNSHINE OR RAIN I STILL LOVE BEING OUT AND ABOUT IN THE COUNTRYSIDE
A BABBLING BROOK
A WEE BIT OF MIST IN THE AIR
A FEW SHREDDED CORN STALKS STILL STANDING
FIRST DAFFODILS I'VE SEEN
YEP WE DID MANAGE TO SPLASH A LITTLE MUD ON OURSELVES TODAY
Temperatures began dropping and the winds picked up so I figured we had better get our afternoon walk in before it got nasty.  With Pheebs leading the way we were out around the Park's pond when a sudden gust of wind blew my hat off and sailed it quite gracefully into the pond.  Luckily it was not my cowboy hat and even luckier it was at a spot in the water I could reach with a long stick from the muddy bank.  In less than a minute of my hat blowing off I had found a stick, edged myself down the embankment and snagged my upside down hat.  Being pretty wet I hung it on a shrub and continued on with our walk.  On the way back my hat wasn't on the shrub and I thought 'oh-no' it's blown back into the pond.  Just as I was trying to remember where my snorkel, speedo, and aqua feet fins were I spotted the hat lying quite contentedley on the embankment and all was not lost.  Say, you really didn't think I had a snorkel did ya??
'OH-OH'
'GOT IT'
HUNG UP TO DRY
GROANER'S CORNER:((  The drunk looks back and says, "Yes, preacher, I sure am." The minister dunks the fellow under the water and pulls him right back up. "Have you found Jesus?" the preacher asks."Nooo, I didn't!" said the drunk. The preacher then dunks him under for quite a bit longer, brings him up, and says, "Now, brother, have you found Jesus?" "Noooo, I have not, Reverend."  The preacher, in disgust, holds the man under for at least 30 seconds this time, brings him out of the water, and says in a harsh tone, "My God, man, have you found Jesus yet?" The old drunk wipes his eyes and says to the preacher, "Are you sure this is where he fell in?"

I'm sitting in a cafeteria next to a woman who was engrossed in her newspaper. One of the headlines blared: "12 Brazilian Soldiers Killed." She shook her head at the sad news. Then, turning to me, she asked, "How many is a Brazilian?"

  1. What difference a day makes. The cemetery shot was appropriate. Sorry about your hat.

  2. "They" want us to stay in our houses behind closed doors.

  3. There are a lot of why's? Something is not right.

  4. I don't quite understand the closing of the parks out in the country side, but then again, it's to ward off the Covidiots. It's unfortunate that everything has to be geared to the least intelligent and most ornery. In the cities it makes more sense, as city folk don't seem to have as much common sense. Only from what I've observed, mind you.

  5. That is silly to close trails. Glad you got your hat back. Two times! Good luck with the weather.

  6. We are in ' hunker down 'but the trails are open and people are encouraged to use them. They suggest you walk aside 6 feet when meeting someone. This is a very contagious virus, stay safe.
