A LATE SUNRISE IN THE COUNTRYSIDE |
'Brrrrr' it was a cold one with winds whipping around today's cold 23F temps. Not nice and I was tempted to not even venture outside. I dislike cold freezing weather almost as much as I dislike hot humid weather. Nevertheless it was out the door with us and away we went. Furry kid Pheebs and Lizard skin Dad. No wonder Pheebs doesn't mind the cold with all that warm fur.

NO SIGNS OF ICE ON LAKE HURON YET |
|
ALL THE ICE APPEARS TO BE ON BAYFIELD'S MAIN STREET |
|
KEPT A WARY EYE ON THOSE DARK CLOUDS OUT OVER THE LAKE |
|
SAW THREE SEPARATE CORN FIELDS STILL STANDING |
|
SNOW SQUALLS OFF THE LAKE ARE FEATHERING IN HIDING THE BASES OF A FEW OF THOSE POWER LINE TOWERS |
|
AT LEAST THIS FARMER GOT A FEW COBS OFF |
We did our usual Bayfield rounds and inspections then headed off into the countryside along frozen gravel roads with patches of ice. If it wasn't for the Jeep's four wheel drive and heavy duty tires I wouldn't even think of going out anywhere. So glad we bought that little Jeep Liberty when we did years ago. I think the only things keeping my head above water in this weather so far are the Jeep, our cozy warm sunroom with it's big bright windows, and my hobbies of reading, writing, photography, and travel. Even if those travels are only around our area at least I am able to get out every day and go somewhere other than where I was.

A COUPLE MONTHS AGO THIS FIELD HAD BEANS IN IT |
Seems I have fallen under an early afternoon Siesta spell lately which is new for me. Guess it's my minds way of trying to help me put in some additional unconcious time therefore shortening up winter's grip. Well if that's the case it's quite alright with me.

LOOKS LIKE THIS FELLOW IS ALL SET UP TO DO SOME SERIOUS PLOWING |
|
STILL A FEW FROZEN APPLES IN THE ORCHARD |

COUNTY PLOWS WERE OUT TODAY IN CASE OF SNOW SQUALLS |
|
WHEN SNOW BEGINS TO BLOW ACROSS THE ROAD LIKE THIS IT'S TIME TO HEAD FOR HOME |
With 'Memory Lane', 'Foibles and Fumbles', and 'Al's Musical Favs' daily transporting me through my blog archives and musical files I am continuously coming across posts that I think are as relevant today as they were in my yesteryear so I've added yet again another feature which I will call 'An Archive Post'. I will kick it off today with 'Motorcycle'....'First Experience' which can be found near the end of this post.

WINDS HAVE PICKED UP AND IT'S SNOWING |
|
WE LIVE ABOUT 3 MILES STRAIGHT UP THAT ROAD |
I'm still wrestling back and forth about the whole Adobe Lightroom thing. Been reading about it and looking at a lot of the tutorials some of which I have a basic understanding of with others being way over the Moon for me. It's not a question of whether Lightroom is a good program or not (it is) it's a question of do I have enough patience and confidence in myself to attempt the learning curve. Twenty five or thirty years ago I would have jumped in with both feet but now with the reality of an already challenged bundle of cerebral matter residing in my cramped cranium would I be creating for myself another unnecessary level of stress. Luckily it is not a required committment so I have the freedom of choice and lots of time to mull it over.

I JUST CAN'T IMAGINE HAVING TO WORK OUT IN THE COLD LIKE THIS |
|
IT WAS WHILE TAKING THIS PHOTO A MOVEMENT ACROSS THE ROAD CAUGHT MY EYE |
|
HOLY SMOKES I THOUGHT.....MORE FURRY COWS AND NOTICE HOW WELL THEY BLEND IN WITH THE HARVESTED CORN FIELD |
|
THIS IS NOT THE SAME FARM I TOOK PICS OF 3 FURRY COWS LAST WEEK |
|
HARD TO IMAGINE THOSE AS COW BUNS |
|
THESE LITTLE GUYS WERE SOOOOOOOO CUTE |
|
'HEY ARE YOU CALLING ME CUTE MISTER' |
|
IT WAS AT THIS POINT PHEEBS STARTED BARKING WHICH ELICITED A RESPONE FROM THE COWS AND THEY HEADED BACK ACROSS THE FIELD |
::An Archive Post:: Webster's Dictionary defines the word 'Excite' as 'to call into action, to rouse, to stimulate'. Had all those with a healthy dose of fear blended in when I attempted something at 49 years of age I hadn't tried before...…. Motorcycle....My First Experience

ALMOST WITHOUT EXCEPTION EVERYONE IN OUR PARK IS A SENIOR AND YET OUR ROADS HABITUALLY REMAIN AS SKATING RINKS EVERY WINTER....WITH SOME FOLKS WALKING TO GET THEIR MAIL OR WALKING THEIR DOG IT'S NOTHING SHORT OF A MIRACLE NOBODY HAS BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED YET...….YET!! |

Have you looked at Photoscape? Its free. Do the 30 day trial of Lightroom.
ReplyDeleteYes, I am considering that free trial and will likely give it a go. I'll have a look at that PhotoScape too.
DeleteThose roads do look icy. I didn't know furry cows existed. Learn something new everyday. They are cute though.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to get outing out for a wee bit and the Jeep makes it easier as well.
ReplyDeleteThe inside hobbies sure help get through the cold winter days as well.
love the furry cows , no likely I will see any this year .
Hi Al, you got me "googlin" again. Those furry cows (& super cute little calves) - might be Scottish Highland Cattle.? It said they are not friendly & mothers are very aggressive & protective of their little ones. Usually raised for their beef - apparently the Queen has her own herd & will eat no other beef. Anyway, your photos are amazing & you never know where your blog will lead people. I've just been to Scotland.! LOL. 🎃
ReplyDeleteAl, I hear you about the "new" stuff. I still use a checkbook and mail out my bills. Our daughter thinks I'm CRAZY!
ReplyDeleteI think the cows maybe Highland Cattle. Not a typical cow that we are used to seeing in Ontario. Cute though.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos, although I'm glad I'm not there. There is something about blowing snow that appeals in photos. Thanks for sharing Al.
I'm really enjoying the winter pictures. Great job. Hang in there.
ReplyDeleteGreat lighting in those sunrise photos. And Highland cattle in Huron County? Always something new and interesting.
ReplyDeleteLovve the furry cows. Don't think we have
ReplyDeletethose in Oregon.
Oh these are some lovely photos. Thank you for venturing out....
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Highland Cows!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice cup of cocoa and stay warm! I love the cows.
