Sunflowers and other plants are part of a cover crop - add nutrients to the soil, protect it from wind erosion - may be plowed into the soil before winter, or the crop planted into it in spring.
With a pinkish orange tint to the Eastern sky around 6:30 this morning I knew it was a good sign for a probable sunny day. And so it was. Despite our thermometer sitting right on the freezing mark when Pheebs and I headed out it mattered little as we drove out of our shaded Park into long shadows and shafts of sunlight. ::Memory Lane:: Tonight's Memory Lane covers a couple days both in Arizona and New Mexico. November 1rst and 3rd of 2009. Rusty's RV Ranch New Mexico, Portal Arizona, Chiricahua Mountains, Desert Museum's early days and Paradise. Our First Hike Into The Chiricahua Mountains and Today We Ended Up In Paradise. My photo album for these two days is here at Rustys. I was particularly pleased for a change with a few Roadrunner photos I was able to get on November 3rd.
OH HOW WE ALWAYS LOVED THE CHIRICAHUA MOUNTAINS |
YEP THAT'S A REAL LIZARD ALRIGHT AND I HAD TO CHASE HIM ALL OVER THE PLACE TO GET A FEW PHOTOS |

Nurse: Good morning Mr. Smith, you seem to be coughing much more easily this morning.
Mr. Smith: That's because I've been practicing all night.

I think everybody is down with the news from Suzie. Its just too fast. He never failed to comment on everybody's blog. Lets all hope he can be kept comfortable. We will miss him. The skin of the lizards are so amazing. Your photo really shows the detail.

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing my post Al. I'd like to emphasize The BS Chamber of Commerce also loves all the snow birds and laments the reduced 'Snowbird Habitat'. The changes at Clark Lake are by the new owner, not the town of BS.
ReplyDeleteLike others we also are praying for the best for George and his family.
It is sad about Borrego so glad we got to spend time there. Good for you getting out in the cold to clean up the garden I would be inside moping.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your posts about what you and Kelly were doing years ago in your past travels. Some of those photos are new to me because I didn't start following travel blogs until October 2011. I plan to get further east in my hiking plans.
ReplyDeleteSo many interesting things to see out and about. Cracked up at the "missing" ladder :-) We've yet to make our way up to Portal but definitely making the trip after the holidays.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good day in late November when you can be out working around the yard!
