A WINTER FLASHBACK AND A DAY FOR ME TO REMEMBER 38 YEARS AGO

DSC_0038_thumb[1]

‘FLASHBACK’

Not a lot to write about today and I kept the photos to a dull roar as well.  I do get a little over the top and carried away with my words and photos some days.  Short ride for Pheebs and I up to Goderich and back.  Another beautiful Autumn day allowed us to again work away on outside things.  Kelly cleaned up and organized our back porch and deck area while I raked up a bunch of pine needles and cleaned two of three ceiling fan screens in the Motorhome.  Half a dozen other little things kept us both busy and of course tuckered us out by mid afternoon.  We are so fortunate to have this nice weather on our side right now.

Well it’s October 19th again and every year on this day I like to think back to a day in 1979 in what was to me a very tumultuous time.  Each year on this day I always include a link about the very first Alcoholics Anonymous meeting I ever attended. It was a meeting that changed my life overnight.  I wrote this post back in October of 2009……. A Special Day In My Life.

And here’s a link to another flashback two years ago on this day.  If your wondering what winter can look like here at our place you will want to have a look at this……We Didn't See or Hear the Giant Snow Monster Roll Over Us in the Night.

PHEEBS AND KELLY

GROANER'S CORNER:((  A man is like a fine wine.  He starts out raw as grapes, and it's a woman's job to stomp on him and keep him in the dark until he matures into something she'd like to have dinner with.

OLD POSTAL CARRIERS never die, they just lose their zip
OLD PRINTERS never die, they're just not the type

OLD PROGRAMMERS never die, they just get bugged with life

OLD PROPANE TANKS never die, they just run out of gas

OLD QUARTERBACKS never die, they just fade back and pass away

OLD PROGRAMMERS never die, they just go to bits

OLD QUILTERS never die, they just go to pieces

OLD PROGRAMMERS never die, they just lose their memory

Knock Knock
Who's there !
Honeydew!
Honeydew who?
Honeydew you know how nice you look tonight?

  1. " I do get a little over the top and carried away with my words and photos some days." I have never seen this in the years I have been reading this blog.

  2. Thanks for once again sharing this. Wish more could be wise enough to get that help. I Dad was killed in 1965 in car wreck...he was drunk when he left home that day. I was almost 13 and my sister was 2 1/2. Didn't think I would ever be able to bury the memories of fist fights and spousal abuse....but I did. So glad you were wise enough to get help.

  6. Congratulations on another year. Being part of a family with a history of alcoholism I know how important AA is to so many that are recovering. It is a wonderful organization along with AL-Anon. Every year when I read this, I think, if you help just one person by your testimony what a wonderful gift this is. Thank you.

  7. I remember reading that first flashback post before sometime, but not the second one. Makes me wonder about the next ten days, 'cause a lot of leaves are still on trees here, and we always might get one of those late October dumps.
