WE HAD SOME CURIOUS VISITOR’S THIS MORNING
The little Motormouse’s Vet appointment was scheduled at 10 this morning so we were on the road early for the 40 minute drive to Douglas. We hadn’t gone far & Kelly’s cell phone rang with Dr. John from the Vet Clinic on the other end. He wondered if we wanted to wait & bring the Mouse later in the afternoon after UPS dropped off our dog food there. Figured it would save us two trips to Douglas. We have our doggy guys on special dog food which is not easy to find but the Douglas Vet ordered it in for us. Considerate of him to call so we put off taking the Motor until this afternoon.
SUNRISE AS SEEN FROM MY COMFY CHAIR THIS MORNING
We had to slip over to ‘The Ranch’ in McNeal anyway to pick up a new steel step that UPS had delivered from Camping World. We’re hoping the new step will make it a bit easier for Max & Checkers going in & out of the Motor Home. On the way back to the rig we stopped in Elfrida & ducked into a little eatery for breakfast. Nice homey place that we have popped into a few times before over the last couple years. Nice ‘old’ country music playing & I appreciated that because I sure don’t much care for the newer country music at all. I had the Cowboy breakfast & Kelly had a Burrito something or other & we were back to the rig by 10:30.
Read a little more of the ‘Chasing Rainbows’ book for awhile & pretty soon it was afternoon & time to load up the little Motormouse again & head for Douglas. Kelly popped into Walmart while me & the Motor waited in the parking lot. It is a much different way of life in southern Arizona & that was apparent when I spotted a colorfully decorated van in the Walmart parking lot. I suspect it might have been from Bisbee because there are some pretty incredibly decorated vehicles up that way. This van is licensed & perfectly legal to drive in Arizona. It would be pulled off the highway sooooo fast in Canada though. But, it’s just the way people do things in these parts.
THIS IS NOT THAT UNUSUAL THIS CLOSE TO THE MEXICAN BORDER
We were at Dr. John’s house on time & it wasn’t long & he came out on crutches to have a look at our little Motormouse. Well, I’m afraid it is one of those good news/bad news things. The anal sacks were impacted but that was only a minor problem for him to take care of. The real problem unfortunately is a growth on her rear end which he called a Pendulous fluid filled mass that has glabrous blackened skin. This can be one of three things with two of them not being as serious as the third.

In a nutshell, it could be seriously cancerous so he has given us instructions on what to do plus medication to treat this outer sack of fluid when it lances. Depending on what this sack contains will determine our next course of action. Cora (aka Motormouse) took it all in stride & didn’t give the Vet a hard time at all. She was a brave little girl for her examination & anal gland treatment. We loaded up the $200 worth of dog food the UPS driver dropped off while we were there & headed for home. That dog food will last us a very long time. We actually had to have our Canadian Vet fax a confirmation to the Douglas Vet that our dogs indeed were on this special food because it is prescription food & cannot be bought in the States without a prescription. In Canada it is non prescription & can be bought from any Vet. That is the reason we bought a lot of it while we could.
DR. JOHN GOES OVER INSTRUCTIONS FOR MOTOR’S CARE & KELLY TRYS OUT OUR NEW STEEL STEP BACK AT THE RIG
Using the stove in the house Kelly whooped up a big Turkey supper tonight with all the fixins. Once again I am reminded…."we sure do eat good for poor folks.” (the wine is Kellys)
AND NO, THERE IS NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR ALL THE ARIZONA DUST WE TRANSPORT BACK TO CANADA EVERY YEAR
GROANER’S CORNER:((
'Twas the night of Thanksgiving,
But I just couldn't sleep.
I tried counting backwards,
I tried counting sheep
The leftovers beckoned --
The dark meat and white,
But I fought the temptation
with all of my might.Tossing and turning with anticipation.....
. The thought of a snack became infatuation.....
So I raced to the kitchen, Flung open the door,
And gazed at the fridge full of goodies galore.
I gobbled up turkey
and buttered potatoes,
Pickles and carrots,
beans and tomatoes.I felt myself swelling
so plump and so round,
Till all of a sudden,
I rose off the ground !I crashed through the ceiling.
Floating into the sky....
With a mouthful of pudding
and a handful of pie,
But I managed to yell as I soared past the trees
Happy Eating to All! Pass the Cranberries, Please!
