IT WASN'T LONG BEFORE WE RAN INTO SOME KA-FLOOFY WEATHER

A COLD BRIEF WALK ON THEMACNAUGHTON-MORRISON TRAIL IN EXETER ONTARIO TODAY
Looking out the window this morning we could see it was not looking like a good day.  It was snowing and the winds were whipping the snow around.  Kelly's dental appointment in Exeter Ontario was for 11:30 a.m. and knowing Winter's antics as well as we do I knew by 11:30 everything could very well be fine.  So, with Johnny Mathis in my head singing Sleigh Ride, Pheebs and I set off in the Jeep first thing to check out the road conditions.  I quickly determined the weather was not bad enough to cancel Kelly's dental appointment.

Decided to take the Jeep instead of the Subaru to keep the Sube free from salt-infested roads for another day.  After stopping at the Bayfield Garage for gas we were on our way to Exeter.  Winds had backed off a bit so there wasn't as much blowing snow about and the closer we traveled to Exeter the more small patches of blue sky we saw.

A BIT OF SNOW IN THE AIR AS KELLY HEADS FOR THE CAR
THE FURTHER FROM HOME WE TRAVELED THE BETTER THE WEATHER BECAME
After dropping Kelly off at the dentist, Pheebs and I headed the short distance to a nearby Park and Conservation area.  I never thought to wear a warmer hat so we were unable to go too far in the icy West wind blowing straight in from Lake Huron.  However, we did get out and on the boardwalk trail for about 15 minutes before heading back to the Jeep to thaw out.  Read my Kindle for a while and then headed back to the Dentist's parking lot.  Didn't even get to turn the Jeep off before my cell phone rang and it was Kelly ready to go.  The Dentist did two fillings today in preparation for Thursday's appointment when Kelly will have three lower front teeth extracted to make way for a bridge placement in about three weeks.  After that, even more dental work is planned.  Poor Kelly, as if she doesn't have enough on her plate with all this stressful liver transplant stuff:((
YAY, JUST PHEEBS AND I HEAR AT THE TRAILHEAD

A QUICK STOP AT EXETER'S HOME HARDWARE STORE TO PICK UP A NEW  MOEN SHOWERHEAD ASSEMBLY
AND HERE IS OUR NEW SHOWER HEAD SUCCESSFULLY INSTALLED AND READY TO SHOWER COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF WATER UPON US...I TOLD KELLY IT LOOKED MORE LIKE A FLYING SAUCER TO  ME
We left Exeter heading home with sunny breaks overhead but it wasn't long before we ran into some Ka-Floofy weather.  Bands of lake effect snow feathering in off the lake blew across our path for a while but we finally drove out of it before reaching home. A few sunsplashes welcomed us back to our Park.  Topped up the bird feeders, headed into our warm cozy house, and stayed there for the rest of the day.  Tomorrow we take Pheebs to the Spa:))

WE TOOK A SWING THROUGH HENSALL ONTARIO ON THE WAY HOME AND SPOTTED THESE CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS

Thirteen years ago at this time, we were always out and about exploring around Arizona's Cochise County.  Here is just one of those many days.  A Return To The Chiricahua Monument.  And here is a photo album to go along with that day.  Chiricahua Mountains Hike

Al's Music Box:)) Wolverton Mountain by Claude King.  "Wolverton Mountain" is a country music song and 1962 crossover hit that established Claude's career as an American country singer-songwriter. The song was a rewrite of the original version by Merle Kilgore, which was based on a real person named Clifton Clowers (Kilgore's own uncle). Clowers lived on Woolverton Mountain located 4 miles north of Center Ridge, Arkansas, some 50 miles (80 km) north of Little RockClifton T. Clowers was born on October 30, 1891, at Center Ridge, Arkansas, son of Thomas Jefferson Clowers and Mary Prince Clowers. In July 1919, he married Esther Bell. He was a veteran of World War I and a deacon in the Mountain View Baptist Church. He was immortalized by the success of "Wolverton Mountain".  He lived most of his life on a small farm located on the northern edge of Woolverton Mountain. According to one of his grandchildren, Clowers wished that Kilgore had not suggested in the song that he threatened his daughter's suitors with a gun and a knife, saying, "I never used those tools for that purpose, I just used them to hunt and whittle.”  On his 100th birthday Clowers was visited by both writers of the song, King and Kilgore.  He died at the age of 102 on August 15, 1994, at his home in Clinton, Arkansas, and was buried at the Woolverton Mountain Cemetery.

GROANER'S CORNER:((  Kirk was telling his colleagues about a strange dream he had the previous night. He dreamt he was in the middle of the action in the old west riding a stagecoach. All of a sudden, a cowboy riding a horse appears on the right side of the stagecoach, and a horse without a rider pulls up on the left.  In a swift move, the cowboy bends down, pulls open the door of the stagecoach and jumps off his horse into the stagecoach. Then he opens the door on the other side and jumps out onto the other horse. Kirk, confused by the events that were happening so swiftly, yelled out to the cowboy, "What do you think you are doing?"  The cowboy hollered back, "Nothing. It's just a stage I'm going through."

- I had an appointment with my cardiologist yesterday and on his door it read 8 to 5.  I left immediately.  Why?  I have to have better odds than that.

Q: What do you get if you cross the Atlantic with the Titanic?
A: About halfway.

OH RATS!! THAT LIKELY MEANS WE WILL LOSE OUR POWER AGAIN:((

OUR GOLDFINCHES ARE WEARING THEIR DULLER WINTER COATS
Up on the early side this morning we were all dressed and ready to go to.......nowhere.  We had a plumber coming at 8:30 to fix the water faucet in our shower.  It had been increasingly hard to turn and it was making an awful scrunching noise as if the rubber seal behind it was binding.  I was worried it could tear and we could have a major flood behind our wall somewhere.  The plumber arrived around 9 and twenty minutes later we had a brand new smoooooth working trouble free shower faucet:))

 YESIREEEE, THE PLUMBERS HERE
Pheebs and I cruised a few different country roads this morning keeping an eye out for any more corn spills.  We did find one that added a few more shovel fulls to my supply.  But Holy Smackers was it ever cold out there in the icy cold wind scooping the corn up.

THIS MORNING'S SKIES HAD CHARACTER TO THEM
I WAS ABLE TO SCOOP UP A FEW SHOVEL FULLS OF CORN HERE

THERE IS SOMETHING ODD ABOUT THIS PHOTO....CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IT IS??  OH, AND DID YOU NOTICE THE CALF IN THE CLOUDS HEADING LEFT INTO A STIFF WIND
Facebook threw me a memory this morning dating back to this day 15 years ago.  We were in New Mexico and camped at the City Of Rocks State Park.  The title of my blog for this day back in 2008 was, Moody Skies At City Of Rocks  These were our early RVing days when the original Bayfield Bunch with Max, Checkers, and Cora (Motomouse) were all together.  Readers may have noticed that anytime they click on any of our 'Album Links' from our RVing days the albums don't work and that is my fault.  I carelessly didn't pay attention to notices from Google years ago and when Google made some major changes I lost all our photo albums.  However, this morning I created a new photo album for the few days we camped at City Of Rocks years ago.  City Of Rocks New Mexico photo album.

WE HAD A NICE CAMPSITE FOR A FEW DAYS
According to our local weather station, we are on the cusp of a major snowstorm beginning tonight and not letting up until Tuesday night.  A storm warning has been issued.  Oh rats!! That means we will likely lose our power.  We usually do:((  Whether we make it to Kelly's dental appointment in Exeter Tuesday morning or not is anybody's guess.  We'll see how things are and if we can see the end of our driveway tomorrow.

THIS IS WHAT OUR FRONT YARD WAS BEGINNING TO LOOK LIKE ABOUT 4 O'CLOCK THIS AFTERNOON AND WITH THE HIGH GUSTING WINDS IT WAS JUST AS FREEZING COLD OUT THERE AS IT LOOKS
Ellen's Groove:))  A short video of Ellen and her Dad Hovak playing another duet together.  It's easy to see where Ellen gets her talent from in this clip.  Ellen and Hovak

Al's Music Box:)) Without A Song The 1951 recording was issued as a 78 rpm single in the United States by RCA Victor Records.  It was also included in a 1957 album, Dream Along With Me.  Frank Sinatra recorded versions of the song with what appears to be the original lyrics, including the line, "A darkie's born, but he's no good no how, without a song." In subsequent recordings, Sinatra didn't use the term "darkie", and later recorded versions included the altered text "a man is born, but he's no good no how, without a song."The original was played in error on a BBC Radio program on the 9th April 2020, prompting an apology on the same program four days later.  (This is my favorite Frank Sinatra song)
GROANER'S CORNER:((
This duck walks into a convenience store and asks the clerk, "Do you have any grapes?"  The clerk says no, and the duck leaves. The next day, the duck returns and asks, "Do you have any grapes?" The clerk again says no, and the duck leaves.  The day after that, the duck walks in the store again and asks "Do you have any grapes?" The clerk screams at the duck, "You've come in here the past two days and asked if we had any grapes. I told you no every time that we don't have any grapes!  I swear if you come back in here again, and ask for grapes, I'll nail your webbed feet to the floor!!" The duck left, and returned the next day. This time he asked, "Do you have any nails?"  The clerk replied, "No," and the duck said, "Good! Got any grapes?"

- I went to the pet shop and asked for 12 bees.  The clerk counted out 13 bees and handed them over.  “You’ve given me one too many” I said.  “That one is a freebie”

Q: What kind of music do planets listen to?
A: Neptunes!
