HOMESICK FOR OUR RV TRAVELS TO THE GREAT AMERICAN SOUTHWEST

I was reminded of a big blue Arizona sky as Pheebs and I rolled through our sunny countryside this morning.  I also thought, 'If only'.  In past years we would already be there rumbling along across the rough and tumble desert floors, up into and over the surrounding mountains and down the other side.  Yes, I was feeling very homesick for the Great American Southwest today.  If only, if only.

Back to the reality of now, it was a nice Saturday morning we had with no room for complaining on my part.  And we were able to have Pheebs window down all the way, with a little help from the Jeep's heater of course.

Our travels took us to McTaggarts Cemetery somewhere northeast of Exeter Ontario.  It's a hilltop cemetery and always a quiet place for a walk.  So, for a walk through the scenic cemetery we did go.

I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE CLOVER LIKE FLOWERS BLOOMING IN THE CEMETERY

As is my daily pattern we were again home by mid to late morning.  Retreated inside out of the cold 39F air and with book in hand relaxed in my sunroom recliner enjoying the sunny day outside, from inside.  Our birdfeeders are very busy and it's always a joy watching the comings and goings of our cold weather pre-winter flock.

Golden Retriever: The sun is shining, the day is young, we've got our whole lives ahead of us, and you're inside worrying about a stupid burned-out light bulb?

Border Collie: Just one. And I'll replace any wiring that's not up to code.

Dachshund: I can't reach the stupid lamp!

Toy Poodle: I'll just blow in the Border collie's ear and he'll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry.

Rottweiler: Go Ahead! Make me!

Shi-tzu: Puh-leeze, dah-ling. Let the servants do it. . . .

Lab: Oh, me, me!!! Pleeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Can I?

Malamute: Let the Border collie do it.. You can feed me while he's busy.

Cocker Spaniel: Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark.

Doberman Pinscher: While it's dark, I'm going to have a sleep on the couch.

Mastiff: Mastiffs are NOT afraid of the dark.

Hound Dog: ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Chihuahua: Yo quiero Taco Bulb.

Irish Wolfhound: Can somebody else do it? I've got a hangover.

Pointer: I see it, there it is, right there...

Greyhound: If it isn't moving, who cares?

WASN'T ANYTHING OF INTEREST TODAY

We were greeted by cold gray skies with drizzling rain this morning.  Pheebs and I did make it out but the weather wasn't too inspiring for photos. No point in trying to think of something to write about, there just wasn't anything of interest.

DESPITE THE RAIN THIS FARMER WAS STILL TRYING TO GET HIS CORN HARVESTED WHILE THE FARMER BELOW PULLS OUT OF HIS MUDDY FIELD

1. You and your teeth don't sleep together.
2. Your try to straighten out the wrinkles in your socks and discover you aren't wearing any.

3. At the breakfast table you hear snap, crackle, pop and you're not eating cereal.

OUT OF THE CONFUSEMENT COMES THE MOST STIMULATING OF CONVERSATIONS

My turn to drive this morning so I picked Richard up a few minutes before 9.  Wandered up to Goderich and grabbed a couple of coffees and eats to go and we were off on a 2-hour drive that took us up through Mennonite territory.  Just an absolutely gorgeous sunny morning for a relaxing drive through the picturesque and serene countryside.  We again delved into the mysteries of life and by the time I dropped Richard off at his place a couple hours later, we were both more genuinely confused than ever.  Out of the confusement comes the most stimulating of conversations we both revel in.  And neither one of us would have it any other way.  Again, a couple hours well spent.  I was home by 11:30 and the rest of the day just kinda took care of itself:))

1) The "Rooster" -- Always tells Facebook "Good Morning" every day.  

2) The "Lurker" -- Never posts or comments on your post, but reads everything, and might make reference to your status when seeing you in public.
3) The "Hyena" -- Doesn't ever really say anything, just LOLs and LMAOs at everything.
4) "Mr/Ms Popular" -- Has 4,367 friends for NO reason.
5) The "Gamer" -- Plays Words With Friends, Mafia Wars, Farmville, and Bejeweled Blitz, and bakes virtual cakes and stuff, etc. (ALL DAY).  

6) The "Cynic" -- Hates his life, and everything in it, as evidenced by the somber tone in ALL of his status updates.
7) The "Collector" -- Never posts anything either, but joins every group and becomes fans of the most random stuff.
8) The "Promoter" -- Always sends event invitations to things that you ultimately delete or ignore.  

9) The "Liker" -- Never actually says anything, but always clicks the "like" button.
10) "Drama Queen/King" -- This person always posts stuff like "I can't believe this!" or "They gonna make me snap today!" in the hopes that you will ask what happened, or what's wrong ... but then never finishes telling the story.
11) The "News" -- Always updates you on what they are doing and who they are doing it with, no matter how arbitrary, and lastly...
12) The "Thief" -- Steals status updates ... and will probably steal this one.

NOW HOW'S THAT FOR MAKING YOUR DAY EH

TUESDAY MORNING IN GRAND BEND ONTARIO

Overnight winds and rain brought cooler air our way dropping our Wednesday daytime high into the mid-40s.  But that's alright, at least we had a sunny morning.  It was up to Goderich's Walmart for Pheebs and I then home again.

DESPITE A COLD WIND DRIVEN SPRAY OFF THE LAKE THESE WORKERS KEPT WORKING ON GODERICH'S NEW BOARDWALK

It's that time of year again to turn off our outside water for the winter so I got that little job done and out of the way.  Drained our garden water hoses as well.  Hooked up our utility trailer and hauled a big load of leaves and pine needles to our Park's waste yard.  Half a dozen other little chores and that was about it for the day.  When the clouds rolled in I headed inside where it was warm and toasty.  I had used up all my allotted energy units for the day.  Well except for a short afternoon walk with Little Chief Crazy Beans.

I THINK I MUST HAVE FORKED UP ABOUT 12.6 TONS OF LEAVES AND PINE NEEDLES TODAY

I CHOPPED THESE PUMPKINS UP TO MAKE THEM EASIER TO NIBBLE ON BY FOREST CREATURES LIKE DEER

AND TALKING ABOUT FOREST CREATURES, HERE'S ONE I SAW IN GRAND BEND TUESDAY MORNING

At 11 a.m. on this Remembrance Day November 11th, I was pitch-forking pine needles and leaves into my utility trailer but I did pause to remember the countless books I have read over the years involving the military.  The unending battles on land, sea, and air and the suffering and gallantry of the many, many, people I have read about.  I also remembered my Uncle Harry, Uncle Fred, and my Dad who were all in the armed forces back in the 1940s.  Indeed the greatest generation.  November 11th is always a solemn memory.

FARMERS HAVE BEEN VERY BUSY LATELY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ALL THE GREAT WEATHER

THE CORN HARVEST HAS BEEN GOING FULL TILT

EVEN SAW A WHITE SQUIRREL SCURRYING FOR A TREE IN VARNA ONTARIO TUESDAY MORNING

With each day getting darker earlier now we can at least look forward to the days getting longer again in just another 40 days on December 21rst.  Now how's that for making your day eh:))

GROANER'S CORNER:((     John's working at the lumberyard, pushing a tree through the buzz saw, and accidentally shears off all ten of his fingers. He goes to the emergency room.  The doctor says, "Yuck! Well, give me the fingers, and I'll see what I can do."  John says, "I haven't got the fingers."  The doctor says, "What do you mean, you haven't got the fingers? It's 2010. We've got microsurgery and all kinds of incredible techniques. I could have put them back on and made you like new. Why didn't you bring the fingers?"  John says, "Well, Doc, how in the hell was I suppose to pick 'em up!!"
