NOT TO WORRY FOLKS ’NO SELFIES’ IN THIS POST AND REALLY….WHERE DO OUR MINDS GO WHEN THEY LEAVE OUR CONSCIOUS STATE??

DSC_1281

I have probably mentioned a dozen times over the years about Saturday mornings being my favorite time of the week and this morning was no exception with the bonus of having what for me was a perfect weather morning.  Sunshine, puffy white clouds, and 70 degrees with a slight breeze.

DSC_1304It was under these perfectly ideal conditions Pheebs and wondered into Bayfield and right on out the other side and down the Bronson Line through our beautiful southwestern Ontario countryside.  Wandering along in a southeasterly direction we made our way over to the Hay Swamp west of Exeter Ontario.  Without the oppressive heat and humidity I knew the mosquitoes in the swamp would be at least tolerable for a short duration and they were as we got out for a leg stretch and a few photos.  Dark unmoving iron looking brackish water with gnarly tree stumps hosting shades of smothering green mosses.  Tumbled branches, twisted grasses and puddles of green scum upon the water.  Nothing stirring, not even a mouse.

SWAMPS ARE DARK MYSTERIOUS YET BEAUTIFUL PLACES

DSC_1295Parr Line runs right through the middle of the Swamp and it was on Parr line’s gravely section of road we stopped to take a few photos.  Swamps are a world unto themselves.  There are things living and growing in swamps that are not found anywhere else.  It’s a dark world with every ray of sunlight having to find it’s own way to the ground below.

Swamps abound with myth and legend where shadowy creatures and things go bump in the night.  Where sounds can stand the hair up on one’s neck and imaginations can paralyze one to the very spot they are standing.  It was here we stopped this morning looking for pixies, fairies, gnomes, elves, and trolls.  Oh in my mind’s imagination they were there alright but just not for us to see today…………

Ever wonder about that other world we all transition to in a matter of seconds every day or several times a day and mostly at night for long periods?  You know the one where our minds take us when we are not conscious.  When our awake world gives way to our sleep world.  What Universe or Planet or virtual state are we instantly transported to and how is it done and why is it done over and over for the whole duration of our lives?  We call them dreams and they can come any time our minds are not preoccupied with our conscious world.  We sometimes laugh them off and pay little heed but is there something much deeper going on here.  I wrote a post about this years ago and today dozing for a few minutes in my recliner I was reminded of that post as my mind once again took me to a place very far away.  A different world yet somehow familiar.  I see people there, interact with people there.  Some are strangers, some are good friends and many times the people in my mind have recently or long ago passed away but there they are and I am somehow one with  them again and they with me.  There never is a state of animosity with any of these people only a curiosity, a knowing, yet an unknowing, and a kind of confusing understanding.  It’s like I’m walking slowly through a fog with people appearing and walking alongside in a helping manner then disappearing once again into the mist.  I know I’m not alone experiencing this, it’s a known occurrence with many people but what is it.  Is it real, is it imaginary, is it a mind playing tricks, or is there really somewhere else just as real as where we are here in our current conscious states on what we have evolved to call Planet Earth.   All religious connotations aside, what is really going on in our minds.  What is it we don’t know about ourselves, our lives, our Planet, our Universe.  What connections to our minds does this vast secretive Solar System of ours really hold.  Are those places we go and those people we see and communicate with in our unconsciousness really the key to this mystery of life?  In my opinion there is not a single human being on this entire Planet who knows the answers to any of these questions.  Nor has there ever been or probably ever will be.  Many will profess to have the answers and know all but I am not one of them and I do not believe all those who say they do.  I feel this though…..there is something somewhere for some reason and it is not anything any conscious human mind thinks it knows or has the answers too.  And I don’t believe it has anything to do with any of man’s religions around the world as he believes them to be.  Whatever it is I believe it to be beyond the understanding of the human race as we currently understand ourselves………………….

GROANER’S CORNER:((   An old man was a witness in a burglary case. The defense lawyer asked Sam, "Did you see my client commit this burglary?" "Yes," said Sam, "I saw him plainly take the goods." The lawyer asks Sam again, "Sam, this happened at night. Are you sure you saw my client commit this crime?" "Yes, says Sam. "I saw him do it." Then the lawyer asks Sam, "Sam, listen, you are an 80-year-old, and your eyesight is probably bad. Just how far can you see at night?" Sam says, "I can see the moon. How far is that?"

A young man studying in a college abroad sent this short message to his father: Dear dad, no mon, no fun, your son.  The father replied: Dear son, too bad, so sad, your dad.

A guy goes to the gates of heaven where he meets St. Peter. St. Peter says to him "God has looked at your book of life and you are welcome in heaven under one condition"  The man say "What's that?"  St. Peter says "You must spell the word 'Love'." So he does and he is let in to heaven. As he gets in, St. Peter's beeper goes off. He tells the man to watch the gate until he returns, and reminds him that he must ask whoever comes to spell the word. Next thing you know, his wife show up at the gate and he asks her what she is doing there?  She says that on the way home from the funeral, there was an accident and she died. The husband says alright, but you do have to spell one word first before you come in to heaven.  She asks "What's that?"  He says "Spell Czechoslovakia"

FROM A BALD EAGLE TO AN INDIGO BUNTING TO ‘OH-NO’ NOT ANOTHER SELFIE…………….

DSC_1237

Rain poured down like gang busters for most of the night and we woke up to an advisory of local flooding and for people to stay away from area creeks and rivers.  Some of our shrubs were bent over almost to the ground and a few flowers were flattened.

It was still raining when Pheebs and I headed off to Goderich to pick up a few things and see what we could see.  Still raining when we reached Rotary Coves dog walking area so we just had to jump out and quickly run around the Jeep 10 times deftly dodging the day’s raindrops.

THIS FLOWERING TREE CAUGHT MY EYE IN GODERICH THIS MORNING

DSC_1235

I saw water lying in ditches and fields where I have never seen water before and a couple small creeks we crossed over were definitely fast flowing and in some places nearly over their banks.  To the northeast of us two townships have declared an emergency after streets were flooded.  Areas over around Kitchener like West Montrose have been particularly hard hit by the heavy overnight rains.  Harriston Ontario as well.

On the way home later rolling southward along Porter Hill Line we passed Kelly going the other way heading north to Goderich.  We’re a family on the move alright.  Pheebs and I were home about 10:30 and two hours later the Sun started periodically popping out from a thinning cloud cover. Kelly was home shortly after 1 p.m.

DSC_1214Cleaned the pond pump and planted some pond flowers as well as a few more Cosmos in the front flowerbed this afternoon.  With everything growing so rapidly well I also had some shrub and tree trimming to do.  By 2 p.m. the miserable humidity was such that I had to retreat to the sanctity of the house and my cooling fans.  Threw my sticky old self into the shower and called it a day.  Thankfully our temperatures dropped into the mid 60’s before the day was over.

DSC_1226Strawberries are in season here so for dessert tonight it was strawberry shortcake with whipped cream.  Both of us picked up bananas in Goderich today so we have an abundance of bananas at the moment.  While putting my post together tonight  I took a break and slipped out to the kitchen and whupped myself up a strawberry banana shake with milk and touch of cinnamon.  Some things in life just kind of end up being a little bit more special than others………………

Sometimes I worry about things I write and sometimes I think things I write I shouldn’t worry about.  Either way I seem to worry about things from time to time.  Well maybe more than from time to time but nevertheless it is still sometimes a worry.

GROANER’S CORNER:((

- There was a man who said, "I never knew what happiness was until I got married...and then it was too late!"
- Love is one long sweet dream, and marriage is the alarm clock.
- They say when a man holds a woman's hand before marriage, it is love; after marriage, it is self-defense.
- When a newly married man looks happy, we know why. But when a ten-year married man looks happy, we wonder why.
- A gentleman is one who never swears at his wife while ladies are present.
- A husband is living proof that a wife can take a joke.
- Marriage is like a mousetrap. Those on the outside are trying to get in. Those on the inside are trying to get out.
- Marriage is the process of finding out what kind of man your wife would have preferred.

One day, a blonde's neighbor goes over to her house, sees the blonde crying, and asks her what happened. The blonde said that her mother had passed away.  The neighbor made her some coffee and calmed her down a little and then left.  The next day the neighbor went back over to the house and found the blonde crying again.  She asked her why she was crying this time.  The blonde said, "I just got off of the phone with my sister. Her mother died too!"
