AT A&W THIS MORNING, PHEEBS WAS LASER-FOCUSED ON OUR DOUBLE BUDDY BURGER |
It was an orange pastel sunrise that quietly came slipping through our early morning pine trees to softly alight softly in our living room. It was just enough to warm my tired batteries and pump a snippet of energy into my tired being. In other words, I was about to have a better day. Despite a biting cold east wind, Pheebs and I made our way to Goderich. We had places to go, things to see, and a few things to pick up.

With a McD's decaf coffee in hand it was down to the harbor we went. Nice to see some open water on the lake but there is still a lot of ice around. From the harbor, it was up into town for a stop at the Bell Telephone store with a few iPhone questions. The chap in there was very helpful. I'm slowly making progress with the phone but nothing is coming easy for me. I also stopped into two banks and deposited a couple Government cheques in one of them. I might go back at some point to chat with someone about what to do with the fifty dollars I got saved up and stashed away in an old sock:))

Our next stop was A&W for a 'Double Buddy Burger to go. Us guys was gittn' a tad hungry. From A&W it was home we went with some ground drifting and a few small snowdrifts along the way. There is some talk of another winter storm headed our way. (At the time of posting this tonight, it's here) Walking out of Walmart into the teeth of the icy east wind this morning I thought to myself how nice it will be in a few months to once again walk outside in a short-sleeved shirt. Oh my, after this long cold, harsh winter, that is gonna be some kind of special heaven for sure:))

Sure am glad it's not a year ago at this time because tonight I would have been on the eve of my hip surgery on February 13th in Sarnia Ontario. Unlike others whom I have talked to, I did not have a good experience. The surgeon himself did a great job but I still carry a grudge against the bungling anesthesiologist guy and there were careless mistakes made by the nursing staff as well. But, I'm not going to go into all that again, and I sure am glad that is all behind me now.

Al's Music Box:)) Beginnings is a song written by Robert Lamm for the rock band Chicago Transit Authority and recorded for its debut album Chicago Transit Authority, released in 1969. The song is the band's second single (after "Questions 67 and 68"), but failed to chart on its initial release. After the band's success with subsequent singles, "Beginnings" was re-released in June 1971, backed with "Colour My World". Both sides became U.S. radio hits, and the combined single climbed to number seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. "Beginnings" reached number one on the U.S. Easy Listening chart. Writing for Ultimate Classic Rock, Dave Swanson rates "Beginnings" as number two in his list of top ten Chicago songs. It has been covered by many bands. Robert Lamm said "Beginnings" was inspired by a performance by Richie Havens that he attended at the Ash Grove Music Club in Los Angeles when the group moved to that area. In a 2013 interview, he said he composed it on a twelve-string guitar that was missing the two low E strings.

HAVING A BIG SNOOZE IN THE SUNROOM THIS AFTERNOON |
GROANER'S CORNER:(( A yuppie moved to the country and bought a piece of land. He went to the local feed and livestock store and told the proprietor he was going to take up chicken farming. He then asked to buy 100 chicks. "That's a lot of chicks," commented the proprietor. "I mean business," the city slicker replied. A week later the yuppie was back again. "I need another 100 chicks," he said. "Boy, you are serious about this chicken farming," the man told him. "Yeah," the yuppie replied: "If I can iron out a few problems." "Problems?" asked the proprietor. "Yeah," replied the yuppie: "I think I planted that last batch too close together."------------------------------------
- Two little boys were at a wedding when one leaned over to the other and asked, "How many wives can a man have?" His friend answered, "Sixteen... four better, four worse, four richer, and four poorer."

An avid duck hunter was in the market for a new bird dog. His search ended when he found a dog that could actually walk on water to retrieve a duck. Shocked by his find, he was sure none of his friends would ever believe him.He decided to try to break the news to a friend of his, the eternal pessimist who refused to be impressed with anything. This, surely, would impress him. He invited him to hunt with him and his new dog. As they waited by the shore, a flock of ducks flew by. They fired, and a duck fell. The dog responded and jumped into the water. The dog, however, did not sink but instead walked across the water to retrieve the bird, never getting more than his paws wet. This continued all day long; each time a duck fell, the dog walked across the surface of the water to retrieve it. The pessimist watched carefully, saw everything, but did not say a single word. On the drive home the hunter asked his friend, "Did you notice anything unusual about my new dog?" "I sure did," responded the pessimist. "He can't swim."

Another wonderful post with beautiful pictures. Your blog is the best I've ever seen. :)
ReplyDeleteI hope your hip is feeling better with time. I can feel mine a little in cold rainy weather. I got lucky with my surgeon and doctors.
ReplyDeleteHas it been a year already since your hip replacement!?! Wow. But I bet you're glad you had it done. Always wonder how those big ships can stay there all winter without damage to their hulls...extra sturdy no doubt. Lovely that you had sunshine. Congrats on the iPhone progress, it takes time. My Android still does stuff I don't understand, but that's ok. I'll learn eventually. Good luck with the financial planner. I learned from a bunch of people to NEVER invest in Mutual Funds because the "MER" is so high...I think that's fees, etc. Husband and I don't like banks for various reasons in our many years of banking, so be cautious please, Al.
ReplyDeleteHi Al a great post as always & always enjoy following.I find that tapping on the "Tips" icon {yellow light bulb} I can resolve most questions I bump into on the Iphone. All the best.
ReplyDeleteLove the Valentine Kitty - will send it to my daughter tomorrow. & Pheebs is so cute with her laser focus when you guys are sharing the AW burger. Best Wishes Always. 🌻
ReplyDeleteIf one could teleport a burger to their mouth with their mind it would be Pheebs! So cute :-) I dread the heat of the sun in the summer, but this time of year it does feel heavenly. For some reason the cat girl reminds me of the bird woman in Mary Poppins. And now I'll have that song in my head all day!!
