CRUISING AROUND IN OUR PARK THIS MORNING |
I guess it's these dull, drab, and dreary-looking days that really make me appreciate the bright sunny days when they do come along. At least this way we always have something to look forward to. And, in the grand scheme of things that of course is important. Here's our weather forecast for the next couple of days....'Heavy weekend rains may give way to bursts of snow as a tango of storms sweeps southern Ontario'. If any or all of that happens we are going to be pretty happy campers............when those bad days are over and followed by warm air and big bright sunny blue skies:))

A FEW PHOTOS FROM AROUND OUR PARK |
Okay, so with my almost daily weather report thankfully out of the way let's get on with it, shall we. Knowing I couldn't take the Jeep out of the Park and photos would be limited on this colorless morning, I had to push myself out the door. With the weather not meaning a hill of beans to Pheebs unless it's raining, she was her usual enthusiastic little self as she burst out the door with her tail wagging a mile a minute. And, off we went like a herd of turtles in a cloud of heifer dust (an old high school saying) for a slower-than-slow Jeep ride around our Park.

I LIKE HOW THESE FOLKS BUILT THEIR FRONT DECK AROUND THE TREES |

I REALLY LIKE THE GREEN EVERGREEN TREE LOGO ON THIS SIGN....DID YOU SEE THE PUSSYCAT PROFILE? |
|
I WILL SURE BE GLAD WHEN IN 19 DAYS PHEEBS AND I CAN DRIVE UP TO THAT ROAD, TURN RIGHT AND HEAD OFF OUT INTO THE MORNING COUNTRYSIDE ONCE AGAIN |
Stepping out our door this morning I immediately could tell the direction of the wind although I couldn't see or feel it. But, I could smell it!! We have a chicken farm about half a mile east of us and the smell in the air not only told me we had an East wind blowing but those chickens were about ripe enough to be shipped out and the barn cleaned!!

I'M WONDERING IF THAT MIGHT BE A LAVENDER BUSH AND DID YOU SEE THE CROCUS FLOWERS? |
|
I THINK THESE FLOWERS MIGHT BE CALLED 'SNOWDROPS' |
Not a good day for Kelly on Thursday which deteriorated Thursday evening. She somehow made it through the night and rallied back this morning. So much so that she headed off to Goderich to run some errands and pick up a few groceries. I sure hope her name comes up soon on the liver transplant list. It is difficult the way she has to suffer with this liver disease. I decided to look inward for something to write about today rather than looking outward. Here's what I found.....although parts of my mind are changing and I'm losing ground due to this normal aging process, I find that other areas of my mind are becoming clearer than ever. I have especially become aware of ongoing subtle changes over the past four or five years and I find myself welcoming these changes. Although the confusing and dire concerns over things like man's religious beliefs, his alarming decline in political decency, his growing inhumanity to man and a whole host of other things still lurk in the muddy ooze of misunderstanding and ignorance, I continue to move forward at my own speed through my own little world trying to make some sense out of what is happening all around me. There is a growing calmness inside as pieces of this elusive puzzle of life are beginning to rightly fall into place. I know not where my mind is taking me at times but I feel more confident in knowing that I am on the right path and feel a growing confidence about my journey. My path is likely not your path but keep in mind that there are many paths leading to the same destination. And, one thing has become clear to me........neither your path nor mine is the only one.

THERE ARE A LOT OF SMALL ORANGE INDICATOR FLAGS AROUND TO MARK OUT UNDERGROUND INFRASTRUCTURE |

THESE LOCATES ARE FOR THE TUCKERSMITH FIBER OPTIC CREW TO SHOW THEM WHERE BURIED PHONE AND POWER LINES, ETC. ARE |
A Blast From Our Past:: It was on this day, December 2nd, 2010 in a 3 Jeep convoy that we rumbled and tumbled our way through rocky desert terrain in Arizona's Cochise County and ended up at the old remains of a Butterfield Stagecoach Station in Dragoon Springs. It is here in four graves near the ruins that lay the remains of four Confederate soldiers killed by Apache Indians on May 5th, 1862. Al's Music Box:)) At Last is the debut studio album by American blues and soul artist Etta James. Released on Argo Records in November 1960 the album was produced by Phil and Leonard Chess. The original release of At Last! was issued as a 12-inch Lp consisting of ten tracks, five songs on each side of the LP. Phil and Leonard Chess believed that James's voice had crossover pop potential, so with this debut album, they backed her with orchestral arrangements on many of the tracks. Since its release, At Last! has been praised by many music critics. Stephen Cook of AllMusic gave the album five out of five stars, and, about James, wrote, "one hears the singer at her peak in a swinging and varied program of blues, R&B and jazz standards." Cook also praised the material that was recorded for the album, saying that At Last! had "strong material throughout." He also went on to say that James's voice, "expertly handles jazz standards like "Stormy Weather" and "A Sunday Kind of Love," as well as Willie Dixon's blues classic "I Just Want to Make Love to You." James demonstrates her keen facility on the title track in particular, as she easily moves from powerful blues shouting to more subtle, airy phrasing; her Ruth Brown-inspired, bad-girl growl only adds to the intensity."

I THINK THIS IS WHERE THE PIONEER BIRDS LIVE AND IF I WAS A BIRD I WOULD PREFER A HOUSE LIKE THIS AS WELL |
GROANER'S CORNER:(( The first woman was elected U.S. president. She called her mom to make sure she was coming to the inauguration. "I don’t know, dear. What would I wear?” "Don’t worry, Mom. I’ll send a designer to help you.” "But you know I need special foods for my diet.” "Mom, I’m going to the president. I can get you the food you need.” "But how will I get there?” "I’ll send a limo, Mom. Just come!” "OK, OK, if it makes you happy.” The great day came, and Mama was seated with the future cabinet members. She nudged the man on her right. “See that girl, the one with her hand on the Bible? Her brother’s a doctor!”-------------------------------
During a terrible storm, all the highway signs were covered with snow. The following spring, the state decided to raise all the signs twelve inches at a cost of six million dollars. “That’s an outrageous price!” said a local farmer, “but I guess we’re lucky the state handled it instead of the federal government.” “Why’s that?” “Because knowing the federal government, they’d decided to lower the highways.”

A little boy greeted his grandmother with a hug and said, "I'm so happy to see you, Grandma. Now maybe Daddy will do the trick he has been promising us." The grandmother was curious. "What trick is that my dear?" she asked. The little boy replied, "I heard Daddy tell Mommy that he would climb the walls if you came to visit us again."

As soon as I read Pheebs was wagging her tail I started smiling - thanks again for sharing your life with us, Mary
ReplyDeleteI really love all the local pics in these neighborhood travels. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteIn your blast from the past you mentioned the pin stripes on your jeep. We got some on our truck this time here too. Did the rubbing compound work? Benno thinks it was all worth it though :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, rubbing compound and wax are good for scratches depending on the depth of the scratch. And Benno is right, 'it is well worth it' to get out there off the beaten path to go places and see things many other folks will never get to see or do. You two have an adventuress spirit like we do:))
DeleteA good post tonight and continued prayers for Kelly that she can get some relief soon.
ReplyDeleteAl I agree that we all must follow our own path. Aging is a privilege that not everyone gets to experience. To me aging is not about deterioration but about gaining wisdom. Thanks for allowing me to enjoy your wonderful posts. I hope that Kelly gets her new liver soon.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your blast from the past this morning!
ReplyDeleteI really liked the title of your post and the post itself. Everyone has to find their own way through this life, but if done right, we all meet up on the other side. My thoughts and prayers are with Kelly as she waits on her transplant. I can relate only in second person since my youngest son had a Pancreas/Kidney transplant. Take care.
