PHEEBS AND I HAD PAWS AND BOOTS ON THE GROUND LATE THIS MORNING

 A NICE SUNNY 50F DAY WITH MY PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DOWN AND SOAKING UP THE WARMING RAYS OF SUNSHINE IN GODERICH TODAY

A nice looking sunny morning I thought to myself as I in my living room recliner shaded my eyes from the morning Sun.  Might be a good day to take myself outside for a walkabout in our driveway.  And I won't even have to put on my snowboots:))

 PHEEBS KEEPS A CLOSE EYE ON ME

With my hip feeling a wee bit better day by day I have started stretching out the 'every 6 hours' time between pain pills.  Oh I will be so glad when I can painlessly run faster than a speeding bullet and leap over tall buildings again:))

 THIS LITTLE JUNCO SAT FOR THE LONGEST TIME LOOKING IN THE SUNROOM DOOR AT PHEEBS AND I BEFORE FLYING AWAY

It was exactly 11:25 a.m. this morning when Pheebs and I finally had paws and boots on the ground with our outside travels taking us to the end of the driveway and back twice.  No problem.  How great to be out in the sunshine walking on bare ground again.  And, I was able to do it all by myself without Kelly's help.  Lifting the walker down and up the steps proved to be much easier than I thought.  I am independently free now to come and go as I please except for driving.  And, I even managed to take a large plastic garbage can of paper stuff out to our burning barrel this afternoon and light it up.

Needing a few things in Goderich, Kelly fired up the Subaru and stuffed me into the passenger seat.  No way was I going to sit home on a nice sunny Springlike day.  I didn't have any problems getting into or out of the car.  I just had to use mode 'carefully slow'.  I do have a bad habit of doing things carelessly fast sometimes, but not today.....or tomorrow, or maybe even the next day.

Our Park's roads were abuzz with white Huron County pick-up trucks earlier today.  Old street signs came out and were replaced by new signs with some street names being altered.  Our street has always been called 'Maple' but will now be called 'Sugar Maple'.  Our house number will also be changed.  It's all part of a big address and 911 change and update to our Park.  Even our not-so-old mailboxes are again being swapped out for newer ones.  Nothing like a big blast of excitement to stir up all we curious Seniors here in the Park.

 WE NOW OFFICIALLY LIVE ON 'SUGAR MAPLE' DRIVE

Since coming home from the hospital nearly two weeks ago I noticed a curious mark on the top of my left foot.  I haven't the slightest idea what could have caused it but had this been back in my bad old drinking days the answer would be obvious.  I would no doubt have looked at that and thought 'I must have dropped a full can of beer on my bare foot yesterday while at the beach.'  An easy peasy logical answer in those days.

Al's Music Box:)) You Belong To Me is a popular music ballad from the 1950s. It is well known for its opening line, "See the pyramids along the Nile".  The song was published in Hollywood on April 21, 1952, and the most popular version was by Jo Stafford.  You Belong to Me" is credited to Chilton Price, Pee Wee King, and Redd Stewart.  Price, a songwriting librarian at WAVE Radio Louisville, had written the song in its virtual entirety as "Hurry Home to Me", envisioning the song as an American woman's plea to a sweetheart serving overseas in World War II.  Afforded songwriting credit on the song mostly in exchange for their work in promoting it, King and Stewart did slightly adjust Price's composition musically and lyrically, shifting the focus from a wartime background "into a kind of universal song about separated lovers" (World War II having ended some years previously) and changing the title to "You Belong to Me".

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Two sisters, one blonde and one brunette, inherit the family ranch. Unfortunately, after just a few years, they are in financial trouble. In order to keep the bank from repossessing the ranch, they need to purchase a bull from the stockyard in a far town so that they can breed their own stock.  They only have $600 left. Upon leaving, the brunette tells her sister, 'When I get there, if I decide to buy the bull, I'll contact you to drive out after me and haul it home.'  The brunette arrives at the stockyard, inspects the bull, and decides she wants to buy it. The man tells her that he will sell it for $599, no less. After paying him, she drives to the nearest town to send her sister a telegram to tell her the news. She walks into the telegraph office and says, 'I want to send a telegram to my sister telling her that I've bought a bull for our ranch. I need her to hitch the trailer to our pickup truck and drive out here so we can haul it home.'  The telegraph operator explains that he'll be glad to help her, then adds, 'It's just 99 cents a word.' Well, after paying for the bull, the brunette only has $1 left. She realizes that she'll only be able to send her sister one word.  After a few minutes of thinking, she nods and says, 'I want you to send her the word 'comfortable.'  The operator shakes his head. 'How is she ever going to know that you want her to hitch the trailer to your pickup truck and drive out here to haul that bull back to your ranch if you send her just the word 'comfortable?'  The brunette explains, 'My sister's blonde. The word's big. She'll read it very slowly ... com-for-da-bull.'
