If it wasn't two weeks before Christmas and I had a blindfold on when stepping out the door I would have thought it felt like an early Spring day. Under cloudy skies, we topped out at 57F today and that included a few brief sunsplashes about mid-afternoon. Temperature records were broken today. Just think, a month from now we'll already be past the first week of January:)) THIS FELLOW IN OUR FRONT YARD FROG POND TODAY THINKS IT'S SPRING
Already knowing our country road walking spot was too muddy for paws and boots, Pheebs and I contented ourselves with a front windows-down drive through the countryside listening to cool tunes on Sirius XM radio. We were home again sometime after 10. WE STILL HAVE A FEW GREEN LEAVES LEFT
Because it wasn't freezing, snowing, or raining, Kelly ventured out into the front yard to put up some Christmas decorations. Pheebs slipped out to help and I wasn't long in following with a stepladder. Kelly did most of the decorating while I teetered around on the stepladder to reach the higher points for the lights. While near our frog pond, I noticed a slight movement in the water and there sat a frog probably thinking it was Spring. Quickly retrieving my frog-catching net I scooped the little fella up and took him over to the Park's big pond. Last I saw of him he was paddling fast for the bottom to get himself nestled into the soft mud for winter. Hmmm, maybe I should consider that.

Al's Music Box:)) Leader Of The Band is a song written by American singer/songwriter Dan Fogelberg for his 1981 album The Innocent Age. The song was written as a tribute to his father Lawrence Fogelberg, a musician and leader of a band who was still alive when the song was released. OUR FRONT YARD ALWAYS LOOKS SO SCRAGGLY THIS TIME OF YEAR
GROANER'S CORNER:(( When my 14-year-old son, Patrick, stepped up to the plate during a Colt League baseball game, the young announcer declared, "Now batting, the right fielder, number 12, Pathogen!" After some confusion in the stands, the announcer came back on over the loudspeaker. "Sorry folks, that's PAT Hogan!"OUR FROG POND WITH ALL THE PINE NEEDLES AND SUNBURST LOCUST LEAVES IN IT

What a treat for you to have a bit of warm(er) weather. Angiogram huh. Just had one this week, and now have a stent in my leg. I could drive in two days. And I did.

What a terrific day the Bayfield Bunch had today. Loved the words of Pooh...
ReplyDeleteOur last home before full-timing had all blue and white lights. Your photos brought back memories.
ReplyDeleteHi Al, I left you a comment on Friday's post about the neighbor's pussycat photo. It was late so not sure if you saw it.? Anyway - that photo was so Amazing that I suggested you print, frame, & gift to neighbor. You might be a little shy about doing that - because you wouldn't want them to think you were spying on them. Lol.! But, for me - I wouldn't care if you broke into my house or came sliding down the chimney. Whatever, it took to capture that moment in the photo with the cat's beautiful eyes - OMG, it's like you captured its soul. You, have done the same with Pheebs before.! You, have such a talent for photography - Thank you for sharing with your readers (along with your gift of story telling). Your neighbor would treasure that photo of their kitty cat forever.
ReplyDeleteAlways a treat to see your world through the changing seasons! That frog looks so cold :-)
ReplyDeleteThat lady hanging lights is exactly 6 months older then me. Now lets talk stepstools.......Hers is a light weight two stepper with narrow steps. Mine is a metal 5 stepper with 8 inch wide treaded steps. And i have a sturdy curved grab rail at tHE top. Its good for controlling the dizziness when changing a ceiling light bulb. Today i used it to change the shower curtain. Just a small consumer comparison.
