THIS GETTING OLDER STUFF IS DEFINITELY THE PITS!!

THIS IS THE ONLY PHOTO I TOOK TODAY AS I HEADED OFF TO THE PARK'S RECYCLE AREA
Surprisingly, I wasn't stiff and sore from yesterday's yard work when I woke up this morning.  But, by noon it was a different story.  A short drive into Bayfield and back with a stop at Foodland for some milk.  Back in the Jeep, I noticed a slightly odd noise when I started it.  Oh-oh, I thought.  I drove to the Bayfield Garage just in case and parked on the east side of the garage and shut the Jeep off.  Starting it again it made a noise, the engine stuttered, and then started.  I shut it down and started it three more times and it started fine.  What to do?? What to do??  Decided to take my chances and head home.  I had occasion to start the Jeep three more times in the next hour when I hooked up the utility trailer and hauled a load of brush to the Park's recycle area.  It started fine all three times.  We did call the garage to get a quote on a starter, so we'll see what they say.  In the meantime, Pheebs and I will drive the Subaru until we figure out what we are going to do about the Jeep.

HERE'S A FEW PICS THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT INTO MY BLOG OVER THE PAST WEEK OR SO
IT'S A GOOD THING THIS FELLOW HAS HIS HELMET ON TO PROTECT HIS HAT

I didn't do a whole lot of front yard work this morning because my hip and both legs stiffened up to the point where it was just too painful to continue.  I came into the house shortly before noon thinking that was the end of my day.  Never even made it to my recliner.  I noticed the birdfeeder outside the sunroom was nearly empty so figured I'd just slip out there and fill it up.  I don't want angry birds making nasty faces at me through the window.  An hour later after ending up trimming our basswood tree by the porch, I re-dragged myself back into the house with the aid of my cane.  It's the first time I've had to use the cane again in over a month.  Most of the rest of the day was spent in my recliner reading. This getting older stuff is definitely the pits and it's not getting any better!!!!

Al's Music Box:)) How Deep Is Your Love by the Bee Gees from the album, 'Saturday Night Fever'.  1977  Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys spoke positively of the song, stating, "I always liked the Bee Gees very much. 'How Deep Is Your Love' is ... one that I think is really great ... I turn the radio up a little bit when it comes on."

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Here's a great exercise for one's arms.  Begin by standing on a comfortable surface, where you have plenty of room at each side. With a 5-lb potato sack in each hand, extend your arms straight out from your sides and hold them there as long as you can. Try to reach a full minute, and then relax. Each day you'll find that you can hold this position for just a bit longer.  After a couple of weeks, move up to 10-pound potato sacks. Then try 50-pound potato sacks and then eventually try to get to where you can lift a 100-pound potato sack in each hand and hold your arms straight for more than a full minute. (I'm at this level.)  After you feel confident at that level, put a potato in each of the sacks.

Teacher: "Your spelling is really improving,  Henry.  I only counted three mistakes."

Henry: "That's great!"

Teacher: "And now, let's check the second sentence."

  3. Just came over from the Furry Gnome’s blog. You did a lot of yard work, it looks like a tree you hauled in the back of your vehicle. I need to cut some of the wild shrubs that have been growing in the back yard but it’s still too warm here in Nashville. When it gets below 90s F (33 C) maybe it will be time…

  4. Love the talking-to-myself joke. I constantly talk to myself in stores. I hope most people think I am wearing an earphone, but I am actually talking always either to God or to my beloved mother who is in Heaven. I am forever needing their advice!
