SATURDAY'S BIG WINDS STRIPPED MOST OF THE LEAVES OFF THE TREES |
Pheebs and I hadn't been around our favorite route southeast of Bayfield for a while so thinking we might find some corn dumps out that way we headed off. And, by golly, we did find one small corn spill which netted us a couple inches of corn in the bottom of our white corn bucket. Although cooler temperatures were upon us it was a beautiful sunny Sunday morning to be out and about. |

AND THAT THERE IS MY OFFICIAL CORN DRYER UNDER THE DASH WITH THE JEEP'S HEATER GOING |
It was while stopped to pick up the corn this morning that I noticed something odd in the back of the Jeep. I had forgotten I had left a plastic bin full of corn cobs there. And, seven or eight of those corn cobs had been stripped. So, something has gotten into the Jeep and has been eating my corn cobs. I suspect chipmunks or squirrels but how in the heck did they get into the Jeep?? I don't always lock it but I do keep the doors closed. You don't suppose they sneaked into our house and grabbed the Jeep's spare keys off the rack do ya. I wouldn't put it past those rascally squirrels!! I have since transferred the corn cobs to one of our metal garbage cans with a tight lid. I will now have to keep an eye on my crowbar in the shed to make sure they don't sneak in there, grab the crowbar, and pry the lid off the garbage can. Gol darn them little critters!!

I had a few Halloween cartoons gathered up to use in an October 3rst post but Halloween slid right past me this year so I will leave a few of those toons in Groaner's Corner tonight. I also had a spooky music video that if watched is gonna kinda stick in your head and rattle around in your mind for a while. Nothing bad of course, but sorta weird. Check out this strange version of the song Ghost Riders In The Sky. Watching it a time or two it has grown on me. Especially those menacing ghostly cowboys. The warning of light flashes at the beginning is nothing, just lightning in the video.

After thinking about it for a while I have come up with what I figure is my very much most favorite time of the day. It begins at about 10 p.m. each night when I transition from our sunroom to our living room. It is at this point that everything from the day has, and is, concluded. All daily responsibilities are finished and in the past. Everything during the day I set out to do, or had to do, is done. And if it isn't done it doesn't matter until tomorrow or some other day or maybe next week, or maybe never. This is the time at the end of the day when I ease myself into my big comfy leather recliner, turn off all the lights, turn the TV to my favorite music channel, (The Chill Lounge) and heave a big sigh of relief that I somehow made it through another day rather unscathed. Because I sleep in my recliner, I will remain here in my safe, secure, and comfy cozy spot for the next ten hours or so before it is time to drag myself yet again up and out of my chair to face the travails of another day.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( In The Words of Rodney Dangerfield:: "Good crowd...good crowd. I'm telling you I could use a good crowd. I'm ok now but last week I was in rough shape... Why? I looked up my family tree and found out I was the sap." "I come from a stupid family. During the Civil War my great Uncle fought for the west!" When I was born..the doctor came out to the waiting room and said to my father...I'm very sorry. We did everything we could...but he pulled through." "My mother had morning sickness after I was born." "My father carries around a picture of the kid who came with his wallet." "When I played in the sandbox the cats kept covering me up." "I could tell that my parents hated me. My bath toys were a toaster and a radio." "What a dog I got. His favorite bone is in my arm!" "Someone just called my phone, sneezed, and then hung up. I’m getting sick and tired of these cold calls." ----------------------------------
Several very nice photos tonight, Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMice got into our Volvo through the vents. They made nests under the seats, in the spare tire compartment as well as the little hatches in the sidewalks. They can get in via the smallest gaps!!
ReplyDelete10 hours! Wow, I wish I could get that much time in. Even when I go to bed early....though I am fond of the time when I know it's either done or not , and I myself am through with it! But I do like getting up in the morning to a new day....95% of the time....and even after the usual rather patchy sleep. Glad you got a bit of corn and love the apples.
ReplyDeleteNot all those hours are sleep hours. I usually drop off around 11:30 or midnight and am awake around 6:30 a.m.
DeleteWe were visiting with friends in their motorhome & saw a couple mice coming in from around the foot pedals. They only deep a tiny hole. Enjoyed your cartoons.
ReplyDeleteAl, if the critters got in the Jeep, then please check under your hood to make sure they are not nesting there and chewing on your wiring. Here in the mountains where I live, this happens quite often and is an expensive fix. Under the hood is a warm place to be during the winter. Just an FYI.
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Al. Do you know what common species of fish the jetty fishermen catch? I have spent a lot of time jetty fishing in the Gulf of Mexico down in Texas and was just wondering. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSorry Barney, not being a fisherman myself I don't know what those fellas were fishing for off the jetty. But thanks to Mr. Google, it seen that there may be largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, steelhead salmon, chinook salmon, coho salmon, rainbow trout, atlantic salmon. The fishing boats out on the lake catch perch and whitefish. The rivers here have brown trout, speckled trout, carp, muskie, and steelhead trout. And if it's a cold day and you get wet you may even catch a cold:))
