WE DODGED AN EMERGENCY TORNADO ALERT LATE THIS AFTERNOON

 AN AFTERNOON WALK AROUND THE PARK'S POND

Luckily, Pheebs and I got our country road walk in before the rains came.  As we were walking by yesterday's broken down baler alongside the road a pick-up truck slowly rolled up behind us.  It was the farmer coming to do some repairs on the baler.  We exchanged 'Good Mornings' as we walked by and ten minutes later he was on his way again.  I noticed there still was no wheel on the baler.

Back in the Jeep, Pheebs suggested we go over and see if Bubba was home so off we went.  Richard was outside and we weren't long in pulling up a couple lawn chairs.  Pheebs and Bubba pulled up a little grass as they raced around too.  Within minutes the rains began and we had to retreat to a covered porch.  The rains were really heavy for a short while.  We didn't let that dampen our conversation though and chatted away for a couple of hours before Pheebs and I made a dash through the rain to the Jeep and set a course for home.

Rains ended around noon and most of the afternoon was spent inside.  I knew Pheebs wanted to go for a walk so we slipped out shortly after four.  It was apparent right away that after this morning's rain the mosquitos were out in droves.  We managed a quick walk around the Park's pond with a few photos along the way.  Back to the house only a few minutes and an emergency alert broke into the television programming warning of possible tornados heading into our area.  I quickly checked our live radar feed and could see the storm coming across the lake but it was heading slightly north of us.  Monitored the Exeter live radar site for the next little while and could see we were out of the storm's path.  Tornado warning was cancelled but we did get thunder, lightning, and lots of rain beginning around 8 p.m.  Might be a wet country road walk for us guys in the morning.

 NO, IT'S NOT A DANDELION

I finished Wondrous: 25 True UFO Encounters by Preston Dennett today and found it to be another inspiring 'outside the box' read.  Borrowing a line from the book I completely agree with what it says, "Investigating (and reading about) UFOs is a tricky business.  It requires a healthy dose of skepticism and objectivity".  I couldn't agree with that more and it is exactly how I read these books.  Trying to separate fact from fiction keeps me on my toes and an open and enquiring mind to all this is key.  In the words of the author of this book, I think he nails it when he says the following...."{The field of Ufology will continue to stagnate until governments become fully forthcoming, truthful, and transparent with the subject.  Sooner or later, this will happen.  UFOs aren't going away.  The huge flood of reports from people all over the world is far stranger and more influential than the efforts of governments to deny it.  The idea of UFOs and extraterrestrials has saturated our culture.  They appear in all forms of media, movies, television, radio, books, magazines, the internet.  They are prominently featured in video games and advertising.  When I hear people say that they don't believe in UFOs, I can definitely sympathize.  I understand the skepticism.  I was a skeptic of UFOs for many years.  Facing the truth is truth.  Saying you don't believe in UFOs and refusing to examine the evidence will not make them go away.  Extraterrestrials are visiting this planet.  The evidence supporting this fact is overwhelming.  To deny it is wholly unscientific.  And yet still.....we struggle.}"

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Randy, was on a hunting trip up in West Virginia. He became rather cold and thirsty so decided to stop in at his Mother in law's place and ask for something to drink.  When he got there, she said, "You look really cold, how about a bowl of soup."  There was a wee Vietnamese pig running around the kitchen, running up to Randy and giving him a great deal of attention. Randy commented, "That pig sure is friendly."  Bill, his father in law replied, "Arnold's not that friendly. That's his bowl you're using."
