MORNING WALK ON THE LOBB TRAIL

 HEADING THROUGH A CEDAR FOREST THIS MORNING

With no particular place to go Pheebs and I wandered around this morning until we happened upon a spot we hadn't been for a while.  It was private property but open to hikers, walkers, wanderers, meanderers, dreamers, and anyone quietly in tune with nature willing to let their own two feet lead them through a wonderland of greenery alongside a tranquil river.  It is known as the Lobb Trail and can be found at the T-intersection of School House Road and the Maitland Line north of Holmesville Ontario.

This wide trail ambles almost steadily downward from the trailhead soon angling across a steep embankment through a thick and dark cedar forest to the scenic Maitland River below.  It's an easy walk down unless the trail has been made slippery by recent rains.  It's also a bit of a short leg burner coming back up from the river valley below.

 A FEW COLORFUL CURIOSITIES ALONG THE WAY

The real gem of this trail is an area beside the Maitland River known as the picnic area where the trail levels out at the bottom of the forested hill before heading further north following along the east side of the river.  This is a soothingly beautiful place to come and just sit for a spell letting nature gently wash over you and carry away all your stress and worries.  Pheebs and I paused here alongside the river before heading further north along the trail.

The Lobb trail is well maintained and lovingly cared for.  I noticed a number of personal touches that were not there the last time we walked this trail.  I found myself keeping an extra sharp eye out for little visual treasures along the way. 

Despite having been here a half dozen times over the years I have never walked the full length of this trail which stretches for a few miles before finally looping back to the trailhead.  As a rule, we take a shorter trail back to the peaceful area by the river and then back up the trail from whence we had just come.  And that's what we did this morning.  However, I made a mental note to follow the trail further north next time we are there.

It was nearly 11 o'clock by the time we got home and that was pretty much it for the day.  With heavy machinery now working where we once walked in the quiet forest I haven't felt much like walking back there anymore.  I just have to be thankful for all the pleasant memories I have of relaxing times spent there these last eighteen and a half years.  Despite the ongoing changes I still think we live in the absolute nicest mobile home Park we have ever seen.  I guess time marches on and waits for no one.  And that includes me.

I just had a call from a Charity asking me to donate some of my clothes to starving people throughout the world.  I told them to buzz off!!!!!  Anybody who fits into my clothes isn't starving!!
