WITH A CUP OF COFFEE IN MY POCKET

A SPACESHIP LANDED SUNDAY NIGHT AND TOOK PHEEBS AND I FOR A SPIN AROUND THE MOON...I MANAGED TO TAKE A FEW PHOTOS OUT THE WINDOW:))
Sunday night was basically a repeat of Saturday night.  A drive into Bayield around 8:30, a few pics and then out into the countryside for a few more night photos.
A COUPLE SHOTS THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD ON OUR WAY DOWN TO BAYFIELED'S HARBOR AND BEACH AREA
WITH LIGHT FAILING FAST I WAS ABLE TO CRACK OFF HALF A DOZEN SHOTS AT THE BEACH
FAMILY ICE CREAM ON BAYFIELD'S MAIN STREET SUNDAY NIGHT
A COUPLE PHOTOS FROM PIONEER PARK
AGAIN, ALL OF BAYFIELD'S EVENING PHOTOS WERE TAKEN RIGHT FROM THE JEEP'S DRIVER SEAT
Took my first 3 Moon shots with the lens cap on.  Yep, even after all these years I still make that old beginner's mistake.  I used a combination of cameras including my Coolpix P90 and an older Nikon D3400 with a couple different lenses.  I bungled along and managed to get a few reasonably acceptable photos.  The Moon's brightness is quickly dominating the night sky making long exposure star shots difficult.  Saw 3 separate satellites go by overhead all going in different directions.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOON PHOTOS I MANAGED TO TAKE WITHOUT THE LENS CAP ON

LOOK HARD FOR TWO PINPOINTS OF LIGHT AT THE TOP RIGHT,,,,,THOSE ARE THE GEMINI TWINS POLLUX AND CASTOR IN THE CONSTELLATION GEMINI
YOU CAN SEE THEM BETTER IN THIS PHOTO WHEN I USED A DIFFERENT EXPOSURE TIME
I MANAGED TO CATCH A PLANET IN THE TWILIGHT JUST ABOVE THE WESTERN HORIZON BUT I DON'T KNOW IF IT'S VENUS OR MERCURY
Nice sunny start to the day with temperatures still coming up.  Needing a few things in Goderich we headed up that way.  There were no cars in the parking lot at Rotary Cove's dog walking area so Pheebs and I hit the trail-a-runnin.  I couldn't help but marvel again as I walked along the shores of beautiful Lake Huron, at what a stroke of luck it was moving to this area nearly 19 years ago.  I know the lake isn't the ocean with its huge waves but a person walking along the shoreline overlooking Lake Huron would be hard-pressed to know the difference.

 BEAUTIFUL MORNING FOR A WALK
IF YOU LOOK HARD YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE JEEP IN THIS PHOTO
Our morning Jeep rides usually follow a few routines and one of them is a cup of coffee either made at home before we leave or one picked up along the way.  From either McDonalds or Tim Hortons we often head off for a walk somewhere nearby.  Of course I usually haven't finished my coffee by the time we are ready to get out of the Jeep and sitting there trying to hurriedly gulp a coffee down doesn't appeal to me.  So, I have to take my coffee with me.  Not a big problem if you're walking without camera gear in hand but carrying a coffee in one hand and a heavy camera in the other doesn't work so swell.  So, where to put my coffee??  Well, in my pocket of course:))

 A COFFEE IN MY POCKET
From Rotary cove it was back through Goderich with a quick stop at Walmart.  Picked up a pair of $13.97 reading glasses at the Pharmacy there.  I can see better with them than my $600 prescription glasses and that includes long distance.  The reading glasses are +3.25

ENJOYING THEIR TIME AT THE BEACH
OUT FOR A MORNING STROLL WITH LITTLE MISS DAISY
The Entropian problem in my right eye I was diagnosed with back in January is getting worse so I have an appointment at the Clinton Optometric place for May 25th.  I've been favoring that eye for a while now by keeping it closed.  Especially when reading.  And I do a lot of reading.

I THINK IT IS FINALLY SAFE TO SAY OUR SPRING IS WELL ON IT'S WAY TO SUMMER
AND WORK GOES ON IN RURAL SOUTHERN ONTARIO
THIS GOBBLE HAD QUITE A WOBBLE
 ROADSIDE TULIPS ARE AGING
No chain saws going today so Pheebs and ventured a walk back through the woods.  The sun sure felt nice after all the cold weather we have been having.  And the air is still pretty much free of bugs.
AND TO THINK, JUST A WEEK AGO A QUIET FOREST STOOD HERE
WE CAME ACROSS THIS LITTLE FELLOW THIS AFTERNOON
 A HARMLESS GARTER SNAKE
AND A SNAIL ON THE TRAIL
Pheebs and I might head out into the countryside later tonight and do a little star hopping.  Not planning on taking any pics but am taking along one of our gravity loungers so I can comfortably tilt back and simply enjoy the whole host of stars, planets, satellites, and whatever else just might happen by.  Using my binoculars I can take myself right up into the starry night sky and contentedly wander myself around:))

GROANER'S CORNER:((   A man moved to a mountain top to get rid of the hustle and be alone.  One day he heard a knock at the door and no one was there but then he looked down and there sat a snail and it said it is quite cold out here can I come in? the man shouted NO why don't you all understand I want to be alone! and he kicked the snail down the mountain.
One year later there was a knock at the door and no one was there and then he looked down and there again sat a snail and it said, What did you do that for?

An actual exchange between a couple pilots and the control tower::

Tower: "Eastern 702, cleared for takeoff, contact Departure on frequency 124.7"

Eastern 702: "Tower, Eastern 702 switching to Departure. By the way, after we lifted off we saw some kind of dead animal on the far end of the runway."

Tower: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff behind Eastern 702, contact Departure on frequency 124.7. Did you copy that report from Eastern 702?"

BR Continental 635: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff, roger; and yes, we copied Eastern... we've already notified our caterers."

  2. Al, I have been a pretty loyal reader for the pasts 10 years after reading a friend's blog when they started full time RVing. Your pictures are always really well taken and catch life in real time which is neat. Your posts regarding UFO's has also really caught my attention and so I was wondering if you heard the news in the US in the past couple days about UFO's and a possible report coming out about them. Wondering if you feel that we might get actual evidence or a retracted government response that is still not wanting all the details out. I'm in my late 20's so you do have a young audience to your post. Thanks for Blogging, Tyler

    1. Thanks Tyler, I didn't figure I had any younger readers in your age bracket. That Pentagon announcement to Congress is due out next month. Because it is Government related I am not holding my breath that it will be exceptionally revealing. Probably just another gobble of same-old same-old words. But, one never knows. 'Maybe' it will be something honestly revealing by the U.S. Government this time. Wait a minute....did I just use the words 'honest' and 'Government' in the same sentence!!

  4. How neat to know that someone as young as Tyler has been following you for so long!
It seems a really good idea for you to have that eye problem handled. We all benefit so much from those eyes of yours! I hope you spent some tranquil time visiting the night sky.
