Waking up it was diffused sunlight I saw casting long faint shadows across our living room floor. That told me we still had a high thin cloud cover overhead. It also told me it was likely going to be another hot day.

Sometimes in my writings, I throw in a little humor, and one of the ways I do that is to exaggerate to the extent of being either slightly or overly ridiculous. Generally, when I do this I always put a little texted happy face at the end of the sentence to show I intended the sentence or paragraph in a humorous manner. I forgot to do that in Thursday's post when I said I boiled up some bacon so I hope I didn't lead some astray to get a pot of boiling water going on the stove, then get the bacon out of the fridge. I usually try to present my little bits of humor in a simple manner. You may not believe it but underneath this gruff and stodgy appearance of mine lurks an absolute clown brimming over with a great sense of humor and wit. Oh forsooth it should ever get loose:))

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A businessman was in a great deal of trouble. His business was failing, he had put everything he had into the business, he owed everybody-- it was so bad he was even contemplating suicide. As a last resort, he went to a priest and poured out his story of tears and woe. When he had finished, the priest said, "Here's what I want you to do: Put a beach chair and your Bible in your car and drive down to the beach. Take the beach chair and the Bible to the water's edge, sit down in the beach chair and put the Bible in your lap. Open the Bible; the wind will rifle the pages, but finally the open Bible will come to rest on a page. Look down at the page and read the first thing you see. That will be your answer, that will tell you what to do."A year later the businessman went back to the priest and brought his wife and children with him. The man was in a new custom-tailored suit, his wife in a mink coat, the children shining. The businessman pulled an envelope stuffed with money out of his pocket, gave it to the priest as a donation in thanks for his advice. The priest recognized the benefactor and was curious. "You did as I suggested?" he asked. "Absolutely," replied the businessman. "You went to the beach?"
"Absolutely." "You sat in a beach chair with the Bible in your lap?" "Absolutely." "You let the pages rifle until they stopped?"
"Absolutely." "And what were the first words you saw?" "Chapter 11."
I thought about commenting on your boiling bacon. Thought you might be just experimenting on your cooking skills, but figured you'd soon learn!
ReplyDeleteThe colors on that swallow!!! Amazing. You get back around 10 am and I'm usually still on my first cup of coffee at that time :-) If I ever have a lawn again it's going to be dandelions and not grass - they're so pretty and tasty!
ReplyDeleteI, too, thought it odd that somebody would boil bacon. Do have a recipe for cabbage that has you do that, but for an omelette? Beautiful pictures, as usual. I will remember how beautiful those dandelions are in your photos, as I dig them out of our lawn! I had no idea swallows came in such beautiful colors. Don't see those in Texas.
ReplyDeleteI was thinking, "Those wacky Canadians. Not only do they not know what real bacon is, but they cook it in some weird fashion!" Thanks for clarifying. Now I'm going to go microwave a banana for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love microwaved bananas with garlic sauce:))
ReplyDeleteTry it with bleu cheese dressing, too. Yum!
