NEVER!! NOT EVEN EVER!!!!

Waking up it was diffused sunlight I saw casting long faint shadows across our living room floor.  That told me we still had a high thin cloud cover overhead.  It also told me it was likely going to be another hot day.

 OUR LILACS ARE IN BLOOM
LOOKS LIKE MAYBE SOME WINTER WHEAT HAS BEEN CUT
THESE LLAMAS MUST HAVE PARTIED HARD THURSDAY NIGHT
ANOTHER FROG IN OUR FRONT YARD POND THIS MORNING
DANDELIONS GONE TO SEED
Our morning wanderings took us over to the Hullett Marsh area again and we were able to get a couple walks in at two different locations.  Despite the number of flying insects in the air they all seemed to be on their best behavior and minding their own business.  Many of the in-air insects we saw were baby Dragonflies.  Stirred up a few Leopard frogs but they were too fast for the camera as they bolted through the long grass.

 A HANDSOME LITTLE SWALLOW
THIS LITTLE FELLOW CHECKS HIS HOUSE NUMBER TO MAKE SURE HE IS IN THE RIGHT HOUSE
DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF DIVING DUCK THIS IS BUT IT SURE COULD STAY UNDERWATER A LONG TIME
 I KNOW THIS DUCK....IT'S A MALE MALLARD
THIS MIGHT BE A WOOD DUCK HOUSE
Luckily, the day's heat didn't get too uncomfortable until well after ten and we were able to get home with the Jeep's windows down and no A/C.
THE HULLETT MARSH IS APTLY NAMED....THERE IS A LOT OF MARSHY WATER HERE
 A YOUNG DRAGONFLY

DON'T KNOW WHAT KIND OF BUG THIS IS BUT I SAW TWO OF THEM
IT IS JUST SO NICE TO BE ABLE TO WALK IN NATURE
Sometimes in my writings, I throw in a little humor, and one of the ways I do that is to exaggerate to the extent of being either slightly or overly ridiculous.  Generally, when I do this I always put a little texted happy face at the end of the sentence to show I intended the sentence or paragraph in a humorous manner
.  I forgot to do that in Thursday's post when I said I boiled up some bacon so I hope I didn't lead some astray to get a pot of boiling water going on the stove, then get the bacon out of the fridge.  I usually try to present my little bits of humor in a simple manner.  You may not believe it but underneath this gruff and stodgy appearance of mine lurks an absolute clown brimming over with a great sense of humor and wit.  Oh forsooth it should ever get loose:))

HERE IS A GOOD EXAMPLE OF BERMS WITH ONE RUNNING OFF TO THE LEFT AND ONE TO THE RIGHT...IT IS THESE BERMS THAT CONTAIN A NUMBER OF PONDS IN THE MARSH
THE PONDS ARE CONNECTED BY A CONTROLLABLE WATERWAYS
Pheebs and I stayed out of the afternoon heat and had us an okay afternoon.  She likes the cool floor in our hallway and I prefer anywhere our fans are.  I did resist turning on the A/C but I certainly had to click it on Thursday afternoon.  Of course, that was after a few emails back and forth to our head technician in Spencerport NY.  With a few suggestions I was actually able to finally get ice cubes flying out of our floor vents:)) <<< See

IT'S NOT OFTEN I SEE PEOPLE IN THE MARSH AND THIS COUPLE MADE ME A LITTLE NERVOUS HANGING AROUND NEAR MY SECLUDED JEEP SO I TOOK A COUPLE LONG TELEPHOTO SHOTS OF THEM BEFORE I HEADED THEIR WAY
I HAD  LEFT SOME CAMERA EQUIPMENT IN THE LOCKED JEEP SO I WAS CONCERNED.....THEY SAID THEY WERE BIRD WATCHERS
PHEEBS MOST ALWAYS HAS A BIG DRINK WHEN WE GET BACK TO THE JEEP
So, we're back to shorts weather are we!!  Oh Dear I thought as I was forced to pull a pair of shorts out of a bottom drawer.  Had no choice, it was 85 in the house:((  Of course, that was before I got the A/C going.  So I get my shorts on and pulled up.  But, they fell down.  Pulled them up again, let go, and down they went again.  What!!!!  So how could my shorts have stretched that much when they have been in a drawer since last summer??  Hmmmm, those two words 'last summer' rang a bell and may have something to do with it.  So I walked over to a closet door, opened it, and checked my weight chart for 2020.  'A-haaaa', there it was......the answer.  Last time I wore those shorts I was 200 pounds.  I weighed in this morning at 185.  Problem solved, and it wasn't even the short's fault:))  Now I gotta find somebody with a drill-press to bore another hole in my belt.  And don't get me started on sandals.  Ain't gonna happen!!  Been there done that.  It's hard enough getting me into a pair of shorts let alone sandals.  Shorts I can reluctantly do, but sandals??  NEVER!! NOT EVEN EVER!!!!

GROANER'S CORNER:(( A businessman was in a great deal of trouble. His business was failing, he had put everything he had into the business, he owed everybody-- it was so bad he was even contemplating suicide. As a last resort, he went to a priest and poured out his story of tears and woe.  When he had finished, the priest said, "Here's what I want you to do: Put a beach chair and your Bible in your car and drive down to the beach. Take the beach chair and the Bible to the water's edge, sit down in the beach chair and put the Bible in your lap. Open the Bible; the wind will rifle the pages, but finally the open Bible will come to rest on a page. Look down at the page and read the first thing you see. That will be your answer, that will tell you what to do."

A year later the businessman went back to the priest and brought his wife and children with him. The man was in a new custom-tailored suit, his wife in a mink coat, the children shining. The businessman pulled an envelope stuffed with money out of his pocket, gave it to the priest as a donation in thanks for his advice.  The priest recognized the benefactor and was curious. "You did as I suggested?" he asked.  "Absolutely," replied the businessman.  "You went to the beach?"
"Absolutely."  "You sat in a beach chair with the Bible in your lap?"  "Absolutely."  "You let the pages rifle until they stopped?"
"Absolutely."  "And what were the first words you saw?"  "Chapter 11."

  1. I thought about commenting on your boiling bacon. Thought you might be just experimenting on your cooking skills, but figured you'd soon learn!

  2. The colors on that swallow!!! Amazing. You get back around 10 am and I'm usually still on my first cup of coffee at that time :-) If I ever have a lawn again it's going to be dandelions and not grass - they're so pretty and tasty!

  3. I, too, thought it odd that somebody would boil bacon. Do have a recipe for cabbage that has you do that, but for an omelette? Beautiful pictures, as usual. I will remember how beautiful those dandelions are in your photos, as I dig them out of our lawn! I had no idea swallows came in such beautiful colors. Don't see those in Texas.

  4. I was thinking, "Those wacky Canadians. Not only do they not know what real bacon is, but they cook it in some weird fashion!" Thanks for clarifying. Now I'm going to go microwave a banana for breakfast.
