SPOTTED THIS FELLOW RESTING IN A TREE THIS MORNING |
SATURDAY NIGHT ON BAYFIELD'S SOUTH PIER |
ALONG MAINSTREET |
Sunday morning dawned with a cloud cover but we were out the door by 8:30 anyway. With a homemade coffee to go we headed southeast of Bayfield to a dead-end road running along the east side of Kerr's Campground. Parked the Jeep and off we went for a walk.
DON'T KNOW WHAT THESE WILDFLOWERS ARE BUT I DON'T THINK THEY ARE DANDELIONS |
MARSH MARIGOLDS |
MAYAPPLES |
I noticed a landowner bordering Kerr's Campground had recently dozed a rough road through the bush alongside one of his fields. Always the curious ones Pheebs and I followed that winding bush road for maybe a quarter mile before it ended at a tin shack.

' A-HA' A TIN SHACK....THE MYSTERY DEEPENS |
THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW CAMPFIRES HERE ALREADY THIS YEAR |
LOOKING INSIDE THROUGH A BROKEN PANE OF GLASS |
THERE MAY ONCE HAVE BEEN SOME LATE-NIGHT POKER GAMES GOING ON HERE |
WE COULD HAVE WALKED BACK TO THE JEEP ALONG THE EDGE OF THIS NEWLY PLANTED FIELD BUT OF COURSE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN TOO EASY EH |
I noticed what appeared to be a shorter straighter road through the bush leading back in the direction we came so decided to follow it. Well, it wasn't long before I saw why the farmer was putting in a newer road. Ahead was a mud bog but I figured maybe if I was careful I could get around the edge of it without getting my feet wet. I figured wrong and promptly ended up with two muddy soakers!! It was a squishy walk back to the Jeep and we were back home about a half-hour later. I wasn't long in getting my squooshy socks off!!
' FOLLOW ME DAD, I KNOW THE WAY BACK' |
I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEM GETTING PAST THIS WATER HAZARD BUT I WASN'T SO LUCKY WITH THE ONE BELOW |
LOOKS LIKE A FAMILY OF PAINTED TURTLES SUNNING THEMSELVES AT OUR PARK'S POND |
How nice Saturday night to see people out and about around Bayfield. Folks eating ice cream cones on the main street, a young couple walking hand in hand, and I actually saw a group of children playing together outside. And none of them had their face plastered into a smartphone.
