NOTICE THE POLLEN SACK ON THIS LITTLE HONEY BEE'S LEG |
We have had our Class C Winnebago Itasca now for the best part of a year. I never had an occasion to drive it at night and I've been curious about the headlight strength and dash lights, etc. Well, last night was the night I figured I would find the answers to those questions. Pheebs and I piled into Scooter shortly after 10 p.m. and headed east down Bayfield River Road to our night sky spot out in the countryside. The headlights are bright and I liked the clarity of the dash lights. And the backup lights worked fine when we came home later and I backed into the driveway. It was so nice to see the curved sliver of light just above the northwestern horizon. It was the crescent Moon of course which will in the coming days make its passage across the night sky to the east. I also found the constellation Hercules and remembered where the brighter star Regulus was located in the constellation Leo. It wasn't as cold last night and I took a few basic flash pics of the rig. Maybe next time out I'll see what I can remember, if anything, about taking astral photos.
GOOD THING OUR RIG IS WHITE OR IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN HARD TO FIND IN THE DARK |
NOTICE PHEEBS LIGHTED GREEN COLOR.....THAT'S HOW I KEEP TRACK OF HER |
DID YOU SEE HER AT THE DOOR |
ON THE WAY TO THE MARSH WE WENT BY OUR 'NIGHT SPOT' WHICH IS AT THE CENTER OF THE PHOTO ATOP A SMALL KNOLL |
STOPPED AT OUR SPOT AND TOOK A PHOTO EAST OF THIS DANDELION FIELD |
Sunshine streamed into the living room window again this morning so Pheebs and I were not long in getting ourselves out the door and Jeeped up. Couldn't really think of anywhere to go so we made a bee-line for the Hullett Marsh. I figured it would be nice and quiet and people free in there today, Nope, I couldn't catch a break.

A NICE MAY MORNING IN THE HULLETT MARSH |
SPOTTED 4 CANADA GOOSE FAMILIES ON THIS ONE SMALL POND |
CAME ACROSS THIS BEE'S NEST IN THE MARSH |
THAT IS ONE MASS OF BEES ALRIGHT |
THE BEEHIVE IN PERSPECTIVE |
The first road I took into the Marsh had a chain across the entrance and I saw a lady walking along on the other side with a camera. I always make it a special point to avoid anyone carrying any kind of camera gear. Like me, I know they are there for the peace and quiet only nature can bring and I'm sure they are hoping to be left alone to snag a few nice photos. Far be it from me to bother them. Headed for the next trail way over on the east side of the Marsh. Luckily there were no cars in the parking area. Pheebs and I parked, got out, and hadn't walked 50 feet when a three-car convoy came rolling in followed by a trail of swirling dust!! We made a quick retreat to the Jeep and in a hardy 'Hi'O Silver' we quickly got the heck out of there. Swung around to the north side and another favorite spot. About halfway in here comes a couple ladies walking their dogs. Oh well, it's a big area and I knew where there was a good spot, so in we go. I backed the Jeep into some tall grass. We're no sooner out of the Jeep and here comes another lady walking along with some serious camera gear. I shouted over a pleasant 'Good Morning' then Pheebs and I made fast tracks down a trail in the opposite direction. Luckily that was the last humanoid I saw for the morning and we were able to enjoy a people-free walk in an old-growth forest.

THAT'S THE FAR AWAY LADY I SAID 'GOOD MORNING' TO |
WHEN A ROBIN FLUTTERED OUT OF A TREE ALONGSIDE THE TRAIL I WALKED OVER AND LOOKED FOR THE NEST |
ALTHOUGH BLENDING INTO IT'S SURROUNDINGS I WAS SURPRISED THE NEST WAS ONLY ABOUT 6 FEET OFF THE GROUND |
I HAD QUITE A TIME TRYING TO GET A CLEAR SHOT AT THIS DARTING LITTLE BIRD |
IT FINALLY POSED IN ONE SPOT FOR A COUPLE SECONDS AND I GOT IT:)) |
RED WING BLACKBIRD |
DANDELION |
THERE HAVE BEEN HORSES ALONG THE TRAIL HERE |
I DON'T KNOW WHY HUNTER'S HAVE TO SHOOT UP THE SIGNS |
I've been a long-time believer in 'there's a time and place for everything. For me, nature and people don't go together. If I want to be around people I go to where people are and do people things. When out in natural surroundings I always try to immerse myself in the sights, sounds and smells of nature's beauty all around me. I find it very relaxing and it is my way of dealing with problems and stressful situations. I have made many major decisions as well while out walking along quiet forest trails. I live close to the sights and sounds of people and nature is my escape from that. It's why I am out in the quiet countryside every morning of the week away from people noise, hustle, and bustle. Nothing much wrong with most of the people out there............ It's just me and my way of dealing with things. Fault me if you will.

IT'S INTO A HARDWOOD FOREST WE WALKED |
MOTHER NATURE BROUGHT DOWN THE TREE ON THE RIGHT AND MAN BROUGHT DOWN THE TREE ON THE LEFT |
MARKED FOR DEMOLITION YOU CAN SEE WHY.....THIS TREE IS CRACKING ABOVE THE ORANGE MARK |
BY GOLLY THERE ARE SOME MAY APPLES |
WE UNINTENTIALLY SCARED A PAIR OF MALLARD DUCKS OFf THAT LITTLE PATCH OF WATER |
FOREST REFLECTIONS |
THIS FLEDGLING LITTLE MAPLE TREE BEGINS IT'S JOURNEY TO THE SKY |
THE FOREST FLOOR IS ALWAYS AN INTERESTING PLACE |
ON THE WAY BACK TO THE JEEP WE PASSED THE BEEHIVE AGAIN |
It was after 11 when we finally arrived home. Noticed a lot of farmers out on the land this morning and fields are looking as neat as can be as crops are being planted. I don't remember Spring fields years ago looking as good as they do nowadays. Must have something to do with all the new equipment and ways of doing things. |
IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY YOU WILL SEE THAT THIS BIG TRACTOR IS NOT ONLY TOWING A PIECE OF FARM MACHINERY BEHIND IT BUT IT IS ALSO TOWING A WHITE PICK-UP TRUCK BEHIND THAT |
THAT IS QUITE AN ARRAY OF MECHANICAL PARTS |
AND IT'S NOT ALL MEN DRIVING THOSE BIG FARM MACHINES |
I THINK MAYBE A DEER MIGHT HAVE WALKED ACROSS THIS NEWLY PLANTED FIELD |
Needing to focus myself on something today I washed and waxed the cab of our class C. Unfurled the awning as well to dry it out. Our previous 4 RVs had covers for the awnings and they stayed relatively dry. Two of them had power awnings too. Oh well, can't have everything I guess.
TIRED OF COOKING ALL WEEK I TOOK PHEEBS OUT TO SUPPER AT BAYFIELD'S WOODLAND EATERY.....SO WHAT DID WE HAVE?? A FOOT LONG HOT DOG OF COURSE BUT NO FRIES THIS TIME |
In last night's post I had the coordinates for a possible UFO base just off southern California's coast. I came across those numbers in the latest book I am reading at the moment, 'Extraterrestrial Encounters Of The Extraordinary Kind'. Fellow Bloggers over at the The Rogue Less Travelled were able to get a screenshot of that location on their blogsite. |
THIS LITTLE RED SQUIRREL HAS A NICE PLACE TO LIVE |
CAN YOU SEE HIM?? |
GROANER'S CORNER:(( As the plane was flying low over some hills near Athens, a lady asked the stewardess: "What's that stuff on those hills?" "Just snow," replied the stewardess. "That's what I thought," said the lady, "but this fellow in front of me said it was Greece."-------------------------
I used to run a dating agency for chickens...But I was struggling to make hens meet!

"When I saw you driving down the road, I guessed 55 at least." "You're wrong, officer, it's only my hat that makes me look that old."

Ah, your Friday post finally hit the airwaves. :-)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that your Friday post wasn't lost after all! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy to see your Friday post up this morning. What we would have missed if you had not been able to post it. I felt like I was invisibly walking along with you and Miss Pheebs while communing with nature through your wonderful photos.
ReplyDeleteNO WONDER you were frustrated when you lost this post! All that work down the drain. We are all glad to see you back here!
ReplyDeleteLoved the robins eggs in their nest, the danylions and the bee, also the squirrel and it's place in the forest! Great photos today. Great photo shoot and narrative of your day.
ReplyDeleteBlogger flagged 2 of my photos for deletion and spam yesterday also. They sent me an email today and said they were wrong and put them back. They must have had an artificial intelligence system go haywire. I had never had a personal photo singled out as spam.
You got a lot of pictures today! Nice walk in the woods too.
