GOOD LUCK MY FRIENDS

Despite my efforts to ignore what's going on in American politics right now I cannot seem to keep myself away from checking the cable news channels almost on the hour for the latest headlines.  With most everything going so nuts all over the place how does one bury one's head in the sand and pretend not to notice or be interested in what's happening?  Maybe it's the undeveloped photojournalist deep within myself that draws me to the media coverage taking place south of the border.  In my mind, I think staying abreast of things is important and the right thing to do.  We in Canada are in the same room as the large but friendly troubled Elephant to our south so every move that Elephant makes we here in Canada had better pay close attention to what the Elephant is not only thinking but what it's doing, and in which direction that Elephant is moving.  Although frustrating and irritating as the news can be at times we cannot turn our back on it.  And choosing trustworthy news sources is key.  We have been and still are on the brink of world-changing events right now and I for one do not want to miss it by getting myself upset with things and turning my back on it.  However, for we Canadians not to be upset or affected by events south of the border it is a tall order indeed.  I just hope for our dear American friends, common sense, logic, decency, civility, truthfulness, and a realistic sense of morality and responsibility win out.  Good luck my friends...........
A GREAT LOOKING DAY AT BAYFIELD'S BEACH
STRUTTING THE BEACH WITH ATTITUDE
IT WAS SO WINDY THESE GULLS WERE LITERALLY HANGING IN THE AIR
OUR SECOND DAY OF HIGH WINDS ARE BRINGING HIGH WAVES ASHORE
BAYFIELD'S SOUTH PIER IS LOOKING MORE LIKE THE BOW OF A SUBMARINE PLUNGING INTO THE WAVES
MORE EMPTY SLIPS AT DOCKSIDE THIS MORNING

A cloudy morning followed by a sunny afternoon made for a nice early October day somewhere in the high 50's and low 60's Fahrenheit.  A usual morning drive around for Pheebs and I without anything too exciting happening.  More winter prep outside around the house this afternoon and that was about it.

Kelly took the call from Goderich's Maitland Valley Center this afternoon that came in regarding my blood tests last week.  Everything was good and all systems were go.  My next blood test in 3 weeks will be to determine my PSA number regarding my prostate cancer.  It's been over a year now since I completed my radiation treatments and so far so good...........

GROANER'S CORNER:((   A Swiss man, looking for directions, pulls up at a bus stop where two Englishmen are waiting."Entschuldigung, koennen Sie Deutsch sprechen?" he says. The two Englishmen just stare at him."Excusez-moi, parlez vous Francais?" The two continue to stare.  "Parlare Italiano?" No response.  "Hablan ustedes Espanol?" Still nothing.  The Swiss guy drives off, extremely disgusted.  The first Englishman turns to the second and says, "Maybe we should learn a foreign language...."  "Why?" says the other, "That bloke knew four languages, and it didn't do him any good."

Everyone has heard of the historical figure, Karl Marx...
But no one remembers his sister, Onya, who invented the starting pistol.

  1. Does the lake have tides like the ocean, that rise and fall with the moon? Just wondering. Phil

  2. I appreciate your worries about all the absolute garbage going on down here. I am just as worried as you and do not see a decent answer in sight.

  3. I'm in Texas and am worried, too. We are so divided now that I don't think anyone can bring us together except for God and we've betrayed Him long ago. We are doomed.

  4. Back in the old days when the only information available was broadcast at 6:00pm on a television, my father refused to watch the news. He led a much happier life as a result. You can call it "head in the sand" if you like, but ultimately there is little that you can personally do to change things. To me, it's all crap. If it makes you happier to be informed, then all the power to you. If it doesn't make you happier, then what's the point? Personally I scan the headlines... but that's all I need.

  5. I agree with Kevin. I am focused on what I can do and letting go of what I can't change. We are taking our 16 yo son with us as we drop our ballots off at the registrar of voters office on Friday. I will probably take a hiatus from the news for a while.

That picture of the strutting gull is fantastic, makes me almost like the little flying rat.

  6. Amen on your political views. Glad your blood came back good and hopefully your psa will too. Beautiful and vibrant Fall photos. I'm getting the White Lion ready for this winter in the southwest. Almost done with all the projects I had.

  7. At this point, I feel that all I can do is pray and vote. I do not follow the political news. Our newspapers are just a bunch of lying crooks who print/broadcast their own agenda and not the news. Any Bozo with a big mouth makes the headlines. There are millions of good solid Americans still here, but the newspapers don't print anything about us, just the radicals. My advice is quit trying to follow the news. You're just getting upset for nothing and you can't do anything about it. One side is trying to take over our country, but I pray to God to protect us from people who hate America. Pray and vote! 10. I feel sorry for those who have devoted their lives to covering the news. Talk about killing the messenger! So many things we would never know without the risks they take to inform us, I think many prefer the bliss of ignorance; "tell me that what I want to be the truth IS the truth, otherwise, it isn't the truth!" Sad times.

  12. Well said on all accounts. Hopefully it will return to a World Leader in the future.
    Good Luck on your PSA.
Be Safe and Enjoy the changing season around you.

  13. And yet our Leader plays this virus down...it's no big deal, just another "flu." When does deaths from the virus become a slaughter? We, and our neighbors to the north better pay attention. Close your gates...

  14. Those who won't heed the messages are not helping themselves or anyone else...go hide in the cave until you feel comfortable enough to come out? Let the rest of us "handle it" ...I guess...I stay informed I don't want to be the one who cared so little they couldn't be bothered to hear the message. Hopefully the USA will put honestly and truth back in power on Nov 3rd.

  15. Al, thank you for your concern. We do watch the news, but hubby now turns on his Alexa and listens to jazz more and more each day. I'm doing art work and making journals and doing my gardening. The news is too depressing. STAY AWAY!
