A professor at a museum noticed his tomb exhibit was empty. He walks by a little boy who is lost and crying. He asked the boy what's wrong. "I want my mommy!" the boy sniffed. The professor said, "I know how you feel, I want my mummy too!"

I'm with on the demise of your tree. I hate when beautiful healthy trees are cut down. It is sad.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about the tree Al. I have some favourite and meaningful trees and spots back there as well, now I'm dreading going back there. I think the bird in your pic may be a Veery. I had a couple here as well. Today also marked my first visits by a Chestnut-Sided Warbler and Black Throated Blue Warbler. They might make their way to your place.
ReplyDeleteYou and the maple have had a few years together. Wish you could go on having it around for more of them. Ordinarily, or we hope ordinarily, the tree would have gone on to more years without you. Glad you've got Pheebs though, and nice to see her able to relax.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry, Al. It's like a piece of you is gone, and it hurts. I always hate to see trees cut down. The planet needs them so much.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of your tree's demise. We lost our beautiful Golden Chain tree over the winter as it just died. When the yard fellow pulled it out we found that a gopher had eaten through the root system, killing the tree. We had the tree over nearly 25 years. Sadness here too.
ReplyDeleteSomeone cut down a huge oak tree on their property several years ago. It was magnificent standing alone along the street. After it was cut down I counted the rings. I estimated the tree to be 600 years old. It saddened me to see it gone
ReplyDeleteAl, your deep love of all living things is reflected in your beautiful photography. It's not the camera - it's your heart that captures that Beauty. I feel your sadness in the loss of your tree. Love. 🌷
ReplyDeleteI completely understand your connection to that tree and it is a great loss especially now when things are difficult enough.
ReplyDeleteSad to see those trees just pushed over. Your close-ups of the birds and that little chipmunk are perfect.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Joni Mitchell: They paved paradise and put up a parking lot.
ReplyDeleteAs always.....amazing pictures. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about your tree. Reminds me of another tree I knew.
