Probably our nicest day of the year so far and I was able to be out and about enjoying it. How nice in the sunny countryside this morning seeing fields greening up and bush lines finally beginning to show their Spring colors. And swirls of dust where farmers busied themselves with tractors, plows, planters, and pieces of machinery I have no idea what the were.

THIS PIECE OF FARM MACHINERY KICKED UP SO MUCH DUST I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO SEE WHAT IT WAS |

GREEN IS DEFINITELY SPRING'S FAVORITE COLOR |
We stopped at the Bannockburn Conservation Area but it was still closed so we moved on to a nearby bush lane and took us for a walk in a cedar forest. Oh how I would love to have a country property with acres of cedar trees.

AND BY GOLLY IF PHEEBS DIDN'T SPOT ANOTHER PUSSY CAT THIS MORNING |
Home again around ten I was able to take advantage of the great weather and spend an enjoyable few hours outside around the yard. Even managed to stop long enough to soak up a few rays on our back deck for a couple minutes. On an afternoon walk Pheebs and I counted three 'Painted Turtles' in the Park's pond. Also spotted the first of this year's fertilizer induced algae blooms in the water as well. Not necessarily a good thing. A neighboring farm drains fertilized field water through our Park's pond and the pond sometimes get's cruddy looking.

NOTICING A LOT OF GRACKLES AROUND THE PONDS EDGE |
Looks like we have some rainy days ahead but if we want our colorful May flowers we'll be needing for sure our April showers.

GROANER'S CORNER:(( St. Peter and Satan were having an argument one day about baseball. Satan proposed a game to be played on neutral grounds between a select team from the heavenly host and his own hand-picked boys. "Very well," said the gatekeeper of Heaven. "But you realize of course that we've got all the good players and the best coaches."
"I know, and that's all right," Satan answered unperturbed. "We've got all the umpires."
------------------------------
At one point during a game, the coach called one of his 7-year-old hockey players aside and asked, "Do you understand what cooperation is? What a team is?" The little boy nodded in the affirmative. "Do you understand that what matters is not whether we win or lose, but how we play together as a team?" The little boy nodded yes." So," the coach continued, "I'm sure you know, when a penalty is called, you shouldn't argue, curse, attack the referee, or call him a brainless twit." "Do you understand all that?" Again the little boy nodded. He continued, "And when I call you off the ice so that another boy gets a chance to play, it's not good sportsmanship to call your coach 'a doorknob', is it?" Again the little boy nodded. "Good," said the coach. "Now go over there and explain all that to your Mother!!"
That must be me in the last Groaners Corner picture.
ReplyDeleteTerrific photos. Please watch Miss Pheebs around the pond with the algae bloom. It could make her sick if she digests any of the water in the around the bloom.
ReplyDeleteNice to see all that spring green up your way.
ReplyDeleteLove those cedar branches - so lovely! We've had a hot week in southern Arizona and looking forward to getting back to normal next week. Love the little cloud, I think he's got it right :-)
