IT SEEMS EVERYONE'S FUTURE PLANS ARE OUT THE WINDOW AT THE MOMENT

LAKE HURON'S ICY SHORELINE
With an early morning Arctic wind chill factor of 12F it was a totally 'Brrrrrr' northeast wind that numbed my fingers to the bone earlier today while taking a few photos along Lake Huron's icy shoreline in Goderich.  Of course I had warm mitts in the Jeep but I never seem to be smart enough to put them on.
SPOTTED THIS FLOTILLA OF TEARDROP TRAILERS TODAY

THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY FROM SOMEWHERE TO SOMEWHERE ELSE
I'M STILL TRYING TO GET USED TO THE SITE OF EMPTY TIM HORTONS COFFEE SHOP PARKING LOTS
Under sunny Saturday skies Pheebs and I made our way along practically deserted roads to Goderich.  Figured it might be a good morning to squeak down to the harbor beach area and see what I could see regarding the bank restoration.  Hadn't been down there for awhile because of the reconstruction.  I was hoping to make it out to Rotary Cove to check on the dog walking area.  Luckily nobody around anywhere so that is exactly where we ended up.  Happy to see work has finally begun along that eroded section of shoreline.  Cracked off a few photos and quickly hopped into the warm Jeep.  Took the scenic way home through Saltford and Benmiller and made it back home before 10 a.m.
AT THE DOG WALKING AREA IN GODERICH'S ROTARY COVE
LARGE BOULDERS IN THE FOREGROUND ARE THE FIRST OF MANY MORE TO COME IN REPAIRING THAT ERODED SHORELINE UP AHEAD
THAT LARGE COLORFUL ROCK ONCE SAT AT THE DOG WALKING ENTRANCE AND I'M REALLY HOPING THE WORK CREW FROM ART'S LANDSCAPING DOING THIS WORK WILL PULL THAT ROCK BACK OUT OF THE LAKE AND MAKE IT PART OF THE NEW RESTORATION LANDSCAPING
EVEN PHEEBS IS ADMIRING NATURE'S ICE SCULPTURES
I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT THIS WAS ENCASED IN ICE
With an abundance of sunshine this afternoon it was difficult to stay inside so bundled myself up, slipped outside, and continued hauling summer lawn ornaments, etc. out of our wooden shed.  Nice to look out our sunroom windows now and at least see a few globs of color here and there.  I like color:))
MAYBE WE SHOULD GET A CAMPAIGN GOING TO 'SAVE THE ROCK'
Aside from less traffic on the roads and the empty Tim Hortons parking lot in downtown Goderich one wouldn't even know there is so much turmoil going around in the world right now.  The changes here are subtle and mainly behind closed doors.  Aside from a few small variations and precautions it is still very much life as usual here at our house.  Even if at some point I'm forced to stay home I can still find lots of photos right here around the house or in the forest nearby.
LARGE BOULDERS IN PLACE NORTH OF GODERICH'S WATER TREATMENT PLANT
LOOKING SOUTH ALONG  LAKE HURON'S SHORELINE
I THINK THEY HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB IN BUILDING UP THE SHORELINE HERE IN FRONT OF THE BEACH STREET STATION
A LOT OF WORK TO GET ALL THOSE BIG ROCKS PLACED JUST RIGHT
EVEN A LOW PROFILE STONE BREAKWATER TO BREAK UP INCOMING WAVES
THEY HAVE EXTENDED THIS AREA OUT INTO THE LAKE A BIT AND I THINK WHEN THE LANDSCAPING IS DONE IT'S GOING TO LOOK REAL NICE....BEACH STREET STATION IN THE BACKGROUND
ONLY LAKE ICE VISIBLE IN THIS PHOTO IS AT THE HARBOR MOUTH TO THE LEFT OF THE SALT MINE
Kept our afternoon walk short.  Not too cold for Pheebs with all her fur but way too cold for me.  I'm hoping this is the last of our 'severely cold' weather now as we draw ever closer to April.  Seeings how Winter officially ended a few days ago I guess I can now say I made it through.  Not with a lot of help from myself sometimes but I did make it.  Was it as bad as I had anticipated it would be?  Yes and no.  Do I want to spend another full winter here in the cold?  No I do not!!  So what we will do I don't know and with this topsy turvy world right now I'm not sure anyone knows what they are going to do.  It seems most everyone's future plans are out the window at the moment.
YEP, US GUYS WAS OUT FOR AN AFTERNOON WALK ALRIGHT

A husband stepped on one of those penny scales that tell you your fortune and weight and dropped in a coin. "Listen to this," he said to his wife, showing her a small, white card. "It says I'm energetic, bright, resourceful and a great lover." "Yeah," his wife nodded, "and it has your weight wrong, too!"

  1. Another set of great photos, especially the one of Miss Pheebs. You are right, that lonely horse needs a best friend. Stay warm.

  3. There might be a problem delivering those teardrop campers as the dealerships are closing down. Loved the pictures of the ice sculptures and admire you for taking those. It would be way too cold for me to venture outside to the lake. Keep those pictures coming ;))

  4. I go out now with my camera every morning AND afternoon and take photos just in my yard! I found a ladybug on a sunflower, bees on another sunflower, bees on lavender, I even took some photos of our dog, Bodie! Will post them shortly.

  5. It's finally warming here so you should not be far behind. It does look cold along Lake Huron but at least it's not snowing:)) Hope you head south next winter even if it's to the Texas coast.

  6. You did good surviving that cold winter and brought us lots of beautiful pics along the way. We may not know what's happening in the near future, but usually don't anyway, so there's nothing wrong with dreaming of the SW for next winter. Thanks for telling Doug I'm his neighbor. ;)
