COLD WET NOVEMBER DAYS ARE DEFINITELY UPON US

Another cold, windy and rain swept November morning so Pheebs and I followed our windshield wipers around through the countryside for an hour or so.  Made the mistake of heading over to the Hullett Marsh forgetting it was deer hunting season so we weren't long in exiting the area.  Didn't matter, seemed like those hunter types were all over the country roads in their little bright orange hunting suits.
I GUESS THESE TWO WILL WALK THROUGH THE BUSH TO SCARE THE DEER OUT AND THEIR BUDDIES BELOW ARE SET UP AROUND THE PERIMETER TO SHOOT THE DEER AS THEY COME OUT INTO THE OPEN....I'M NOT A HUNTER AND I'M JUST GUESSING THIS IS WHAT THESE GUYS ARE DOING
YOU CAN SEE IN SOME OF THESE PHOTOS HOW MOST OF OUR COLORED LEAVES ARE NOW OFF THE TREES
Slept part of the afternoon away and only ventured outside when we had a brief half hour of sunshine.
IT'S HUNTING SEASON SO THESE HORSES HAVE ON THEIR BULLET PROOF VESTS......WELL OKAY SO THEY ARE JUST WARMING BLANKETS
IF THIS FARMER DOESN'T GET HIS BEANS HARVESTED SOON HE'S GOING TO NEED A SNOWPLOW TO DO IT
I WOULD SAY 90% OF OUR AUTUMN LEAVES ARE ON THE GROUND NOW
LOOKS LIKE THESE RV'ERS MIGHT NOT BE HEADING SOUTH THIS WINTER EITHER
We are following reader's suggestions and checking into things regarding 'Seasonal Affective Disorder' (SAD)  Looking at light therapy lamps and also a few things at the health food store as well.  Must admit I'm a bit skeptical about stuff like this but I'm willing to give it a try.  I think what makes it worse for me this year is that we have no travel plans to look forward to like we did for the past 13 years.  Despite chances rapidly dwindling now that the cold weather is here we are still hopeful we might find another RV soon and maybe at least get away to a sunny warm location somewhere for a month or so this winter.

  1. That last photo was great. Long, hilly road. Hope something comes from your lighting investigation. I don't like cold and cloudy days, but I don't really have the feeling of depression, just laziness. Guess I don't have SAD.

  2. Enjoyed the Groaner. I hope those hunters don't shoot each other. As you know, we travel a lot by car from Florida to Nova Scotia or Detroit. La Quienta motels allow dogs and a long Jeep trip is possible. Just an idea.

  3. Al, I so get your depression at not traveling. One of the things about being an RVer is that you know it cannot go on forever. I'm not sure we will ever get back to it...Dennis gets shots in his eye every month for Macular Degeneration. I sometimes go out to our Hiker and just sit in it. Hang in there though..There just might be a camper looking for you!

  4. Years ago as full-time RVers in New Jersey, I purchased tabletop box lights from Verilux. https://verilux.com/ (Got a whale of a deal on a set of 2.) These lights simulate daylight. Looks like they don't have the box lights now, but they do have other options. We now live in northern Minnesota, where winters are long with many days of limited to no sunshine. Changing the light bulbs in our townhome to LED "daylight" has helped tremendously, and I do still use the Verilux lights on occasion. Hope you find something that helps!

  6. That's exactly what the hunters are doing. The old fat guys, that was often me, sit and wait for the drivers, the slim young guys, to push the deer in their direction. When you're old and geezerly that's about the only way you can still hunt.

  8. Al, This is rather off topic, but did anything come thru yr blog from Sherri, from "In the Direction of our Dreams"?? 2 days ago there was an update, then there was nothing on the blog... your register showed there was an update, but when going in there i could not find anything on there either. So hope all is well with her. i left her another message on her 'final blog' back in Feb, hoping she would pick it u, but nothing as of yet... just hope she is well or as well as can be expected...

  9. Getting a "SAD" light should be a help to you. Just sayin'....
Be sure to get one that simulates sunshine and isn't just a light.
Lordy, I love the groaners!!! They always find a way to "speak" to me.
