A DISMAL DAY ALLOWS ME TO CATCH UP A FEW PHOTOS

IN BAYFIELD THIS MORNING
Woke up to rain on a dull, dreary and cold damp morning but Pheebs and I did manage to get out for a short drive into and around Bayfield.  We were back home within half an hour and spent the rest of the day inside looking out the window.  Couldn't help but feel the drab day was a harbinger of days to come.  Richard dropped by to say they were heading south in the morning instead of November 3rd as originally planned.  With some unpredictable weather headed this way Gayle and Richard decided to get out of Dodge now instead of next week.  Looks like our next country road coffee cruise will not be until next Spring sometime and I'm already looking forward to that.   Only took one photo this morning which is the one above.  All other photos are a compilation of shots over the past week that never made it into any of my posts.

At the time of posting this tonight it is still raining.  Not looking good for tomorrow either.  Oh Dear I think it's going to be a long winter and winter isn't even here yet...….

OUR STREET LOOKING EAST FROM OUR DRIVEWAY
GROANER'S  CORNER:((  Claire finally retired from a busy life in business, traveling around the country visiting antique shops trying to find bargains.  One day she goes to an antique shop in Stratford upon Avon, England. Here, Claire speaks to Victoria, the shop's owner, "When I was in here last week I saw a big mug with a flat head that holds a lot of beer. I'd like to buy it."  "Sorry," replied Victoria, "but I can't possibly sell you that."  "Oh, what a pity, but why not?" inquired Claire. "Because," said the owner, "that's my husband."

  1. One thing about a drab day and yellow leaves, they seem to shine even brighter. I think that's not true of the reds. But this is again a beautiful series. Thanks.

  3. There is actually a book store in Richmond, Va, where the owner has her husband's ashes in a mug up over the check out counter. She said he started the store with her and she wants to keep his ashes with her. Creepy! Ann M

  8. I know ya'll are kind of bummed out about not being able to head south for the winter, but, there is always a bright side to everything. When was the last time you took pictures of fresh fallen snow with animal tracks leading out into a pasture? Or of snow so heavy the boughs of the trees are dipping almost to the ground? Or coming inside to a toasty home to warm up? Just think about all of the great winter pictures you will be able to take this year. I know I'm looking forward to them. Ya'll be safe and take care.
