OKAY SO WHAT DID A COWBELL HAVE TO DO WITH OUR DAY??

Heard a few slight scruffling sounds in the hall then the words, "I'm ready to get up now".    The time was 5:15 a.m. and it was Ella of course standing near my recliner.  "Is Kelly getting up now?" she asked.  "Soon" I said and suggested she slip down the hall and gently knock on Kelly's bedroom door.  And that is what this little 4 foot tall 6 year old person did and that is how Kelly happily started her day as well.  Wasn't long after that we had cartoons on the TV going and a short time later upon finishing up some hugs and snuggles Ella and Pheebs soon had a game of squeaker toys going on.  A very different but pleasantly welcome start to our day.  And yes I had a much better sleep with only 3 pit stop interruptions.  Seems like it wasn't that long ago when I had no interruptions.  Oh those were the days:))
Not wanting to waste this marvelously cool weather Pheebs and I were off out the door early and ended up taking ourselves for a wee walk in the Bannockburn Conservation Area.  How nice to be walking in 'bug free' air and how nice to be the only ones there.  Another beautifully quiet Sunday morning.
HEADING BACK TO THE JEEP

Home about 10 we were soon all on the road again headed for a place none of us had ever been before.  It was about 11:20 when Ella, Kelly, Rebecca and Ricardo all piled into the Freedo Vandito and we took the slower scenic route to Blyth Ontario.  Kelly and I have been to Blyth many times before but none of us had ever been to the Cowbell Brewing Company home of the Cowbell Kitchen.  Well you just have to see this place to believe it.  I took a bunch of photos but you really have to drop in and see it for yourself and especially when the brewery is in actual production which it wasn't today.  It was the Cowbell Kitchen we headed for this morning and made the mistake of not phoning in a reservation.  They said it was a 45 minute wait but no matter, it gave us time to have a look around but we did shorten up the wait time by deciding to eat outside on the patio which was only a 15 minute wait.
TOO MANY COWBELL PHOTOS FOR TONIGHT'S POST SO I HOPE TO POST THE REST OF THEM VERY SHORTLY
HERE'S WHERE WE WERE TOLD IT WOULD BE A 45 LMINUTE WAIT FOR AN 'INSIDE' TABLE
THOSE ARE ALL BEER TAPS BEHIND THE BAR
HERE'S ELLA BELLIED UP TO THE BAR
BAR OVERVIEW FROM THE SECOND FLOOR WALKWAY
HAPPY COWBELL DINERS BELOW
AND YES THERE ARE ACTUAL COWBELLS HERE
The patio idea was not exactly the best idea on a windy day like today but we managed to hold down the napkins and have the overhead heater cranked up.  I think everyone agreed the food was great but not having my usual burg it was hard for me to judge.  I had the largest hot dog of ever and no I did not eat it all.   Because the Cowbell Kitchen was so busy we had a long wait for our food.  I would have been just happy walking around taking photos of this great looking place then gone over to Tim Hortons across the road for a coffee and carrot muffin.  As readers know, I'm not a big foody person.
OUR FIRST OUTSIDE PATIO TABLE WAS TOO WINDY
SECOND LOCATION WASN'T MUCH BETTER BUT WE HAD A BIG HEATER OVERHEAD
ELLA WAS COLD SO MOM WRAPPED HER UP IN A BLACK SHAWL
YOUR THE BEST MOM
WELL WHAT THE HECK WAS I THINKING
THOSE ARE MASHED POTATOES IN THAT WHITE BOWL
WELL HERE GOES......I PLOWED THROUGH ABOUT HALF OF IT AND THAT WAS THAT
A nice day for a drive and we were all back home somewhere around 2 p.m.  Ella, Rebecca,  and Ricardo headed over to the Deer Park beach and pool area.  Kelly and I headed for our favorite places of rest for a couple hours.  Well it wasn't a couple hours for me as I was soon outside chopping up some wood for a campfire.
OUR OVERHEAD HEATER BUT THE WIND KEPT BLOWING THE HEAT OVER INTO THE NEXT COUNTY
AND YES THAT 99 MEANS DOLLARS.....SURE RIPS THE HELL OUT OF A HUNDRED DOLLAR BILL EH AND BELOW ELLA HELPS ME EDIT PHOTOS AFTER SHE DRESSED WARMLY FOR THE COOL NIGHT CAMPFIRE
By the time supper rolled around I was still full from the Cowbell and had no appetite for weenies and smores.  In fact I ate too much of my seemingly 10 foot long hot dog as it was and felt very uncomfortable for the rest of the afternoon.  I should darn well know better but every once and a long while this confused brain of mine thinks it's still in it's teenage years with a big appetite!!
THIS IS MY MEGA HOT DOG WHICH I WOULD NOT GET AGAIN....WAY TOO MUCH FOR ME AND NO I DID NOT GET THE SAUERKRAUT OR SPICY SAUCE WITH IT
Ella, Rebecca, and Ricardo were back from the beach about 6 o'clock and I restoked the campfire coals as they all strapped on their feed bags and grabbed their hot dog sticks.
ELLA SHUCKED 9 COBS OF CORN FOR SUPPER
EAGLE EYE PHEEBS PATIENTLY WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DROP SOMETHING AND HER SPECIAL FOCUS IS ELLA
AFTER THE HOT DOGS CAME THE SMORES
OKAY IT'S SMORES TIME
GROANER'S CORNER:((   Mom was trying to get her son to get out of bed and get ready for school. "I am not going to school!" the son responded defiantly.  "Why not?" Mom wanted to know.  "Well, first of all I hate school and second of all the kids all hate me!!" was the answer.  "Son, those are not good reasons, you will have to get up and get ready for school!" Mom replied.  "Well, give me two good reasons why I should," the son said.  "Well," Mom said quietly, "First of all you are 52 years old and second of all.....You are the Principal."

  1. What a busy day! Kids and grandkids have many neverending activities. Ella is sure a cutie. I bet she would help you write your blog. That hotdog was really big. Most restaurant meals are too much food. We just eat half and bring the rest home for another meal later.

  2. She would have enjoyed the Al and Pheebes walk through the forest, learning about mushrooms and fungi. Sounds like she had a really full day anyway. Enjoyed the pics and no I would not have finished that dog either.

  3. Looks like a great place to go for a drive, and the huge hot dog wow! Had good friends there at Cow Bell as well, he rode his bicycle from Plattsville enjoyed some beer and a car ride home.
The campfire with hit digs and snores a great way to wind hop the visit.

  4. When I scrolled down, yes reading as I went, and started to scroll past the picture of Ella in her pink top - my first thought was of Kelly especially around the eyes. That dog would have made 2 extra meals for Jim and I!
