A NICE MORNING JEEP RIDE TO GRAND BEND AND BACK

CAN YOU SEE THE FISHERMAN AND HIS DOG?
Hadn't been down around Grand Bend for a couple months so Pheebs and I had a destination today.  Just another beautiful morning going on here in southwestern Ontario.  Well at least until about 10 a.m. when the day began heating up and turning muggy again .  Stopped at an old time favorite spot along the way and looked at the ongoing beach erosion from high water levels.
HIGH LAKE HURON WATER LEVELS KEEP ERODING THIS SHORELINE NORTH OF GRAND BEND
I REMEMBER THIS BANK ONCE EXTENDING AT LEAST 30 FEET OUT TOWARDS THE LAKE YEARS AGO

PRECIOUS FARMLAND CONTINUES TO BE LOST
Grand Bend has always been a summer time 'go-to beachside hang-out for the younger action Jackson crowd.  It is still that but Grand Bend over the years has been picking itself up. dusting itself off, and turning itself into a rather respectful place.  New higher end buildings are replacing the old cottage and wood shack dwellings in the downtown beach area.  I think Grand Bend 'pulling it's socks up' is a good thing and I say that because I well remember Grand Bend from the past when I occasionally hung around there in the early 60's.  And I am really surprised at how the Bend is expanding inland to the east.  New sub divisions, condos, apartments, etc.  Clearly targeting the well to do retirement folks.  I think it's all a good thing.....if one can afford it.  With the areas Real Estate through the roof heading for the stratosphere unless one has a cool million bucks tucked away in one's socks one had better hang onto what they got.

 GRAND BEND IS CERTAINLY EVOLVING
With the morning's heat and humidity building Pheebs and slowly wended our way home along the country back roads.  Farmers are busy with the wheat harvest and this dry weather right now is perfect for them.  Finally reaching home about 10:30 I cranked up the A/C, fired up my fans, and threw myself into the shower.  Kelly had gone out for breakfast at the Bayfield Berry Farm with her son Ben along with family members Bri, Darion, and Kai.

Following breakfast Kelly had some errands in Goderich and while there stopped into the Maitland Valley Medical Center and picked up my Cat Scan report from a few days ago.  Looks like there are a few things other than the kidney stone in the report but I'm not going to attempt to draw any unprofessional conclusions from the report.  We'll wait until next Wednesday afternoon and see what Doctor Bukala has to say about it all.

With summer's heat and humidity back I never ventured out of the house for the rest of the afternoon.  Luckily our nights have been cooling down really nice and checking the weather for next week I see we are once again in for cooler temperatures.  Just think, one month from right now it will almost be September:))

A tourist had lost his way on a back road and stopped at a farmhouse to ask if he could be stay there for the night.  “Well, we’re mighty crowded since there’s already someone in the spare room,” replied the farmer. “But I guess you can stay if you don’t mind sharing the bed with a tall blonde.  ”The tourist puffed out his chest and replied, “That’s fine by me and in case you’re worried, I want you to know I’m a gentleman.” “Well,” mused the farmer, “as far as I can tell, so is the tall blonde.”

  1. Grand Bend certainly is evolving, I have wonderful memories of when it was much more laid back, Think I preferred it then, but time change and I guess this is progress? We going there Sunday too the flea market and maybe a drive around again. It sure has warmed top again, nit that we care can always find a cool spot to relax here.
