KELLY WATCHES PARKER ARIZONA'S OFF ROAD TRUCKS KICKING UP VOLUMES OF DESERT DUST BUT PHEEBS DOESN'T SEEM TOO INTERESTED |
EARLIER THIS MORNING I SPOTTED TWO ATV TYPE RACERS TEARING ALONG THE OFF-ROAD RACE TRACK |
GREAT AREA FOR MORNING WALKS |
YES WE SURE DO LOVE OUR DESERT SOLITUDE |

HAD US A STAY AT HOME RELAXING MORNING, AFTERNOON, AND EVENING |
Winds really picked up this afternoon clearing out some of the clouds. A fair bit of dust in the air but at least the winds were not cold. Set up a couple binocular tri-pods and watched the off-road truck racers tearing up the desert a few miles away. Trucks were only tiny moving specs but easy to follow with volumes of dust being kicked up into the air behind them. With strong winds blowing the truck sounds were carried away with only a few faint engines sounds barely audible reaching us.
ALL SET UP TO WATCH THE DESEERT RACERS A COUPLE MILES AWAY |
AT LAST A DISTANT DUST CLOUD |
THIS TRUCK APPEARS AS A PIN POINT OF YELLOW AT THE HEAD OF THAT DUST TRAIL |
TWO OF THREE HELICOPTERS FLYING ABOVE THE RACERS PROBABLY TAKING VIDEOS FOR AREA NEWS STATIONS |
A 300mm TELEPHOTO SHOT OF SPECTATORS ON A DISTANT HILLTOP WATCHING THE RACE |
Kelly did get me onto a free version of Word Press this morning but oh my the patience needed to figure out the site construction is not on my side. I wrestled around trying to set up a basic site but even having done both Blogger and Live Writer myself years ago it was a struggle today trying to understand and fit the right pieces of the puzzle together. And it is my own damn impatience which fights me every step of the way.
As darkness descended late this afternoon rains began around 5 o'clock and from my recliner I could still see bouncing points of bright lights way out in the desert as the off-road truck racers still weaved and bobbed their way through desert. A hardy and dedicated bunch those fellows.

At the airport for a business trip, I settled down to wait for the boarding announcement at Gate 35. Then I heard the voice on the public address system saying, "We apologize for the inconvenience, but Delta Flight 570 will board from Gate 41."So my family picked up our luggage and carried it over to Gate 41. Not ten minutes later the public address voice told us that Flight 570 would in fact be boarding from Gate 35.So, again, we gathered our carry-on luggage and returned to the original gate. Just as we were settling down, the public address voice spoke again: "Thank you for participating in Delta's physical fitness program.

Loved the photo of Kelly and the "relaxing" Pheebs! We struggled with Verizon signal parked exactly where you are near Bouse. Mosey on over here at some point in time and we will tame Wordpress for you.
ReplyDeletePlease, can you put down GPS coordinates of your present location ? After 11 Feb. going moving to South from Lake Mead, so may we will stay there 2-3 days near the Parker
ReplyDeleteNice to hear you are relaxing some and enjoying the sunshine and some views. Hardest part for me with WordPress is getting out of my preset notion that I want everything to look the same as my old blog. If I let go of that attachment, and just go with the new, it isn't bad. If I have to switch I will, I have already set it up. but in the meantime, Open Live Writer is still working for me. keeping my fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteI would love to spend a day in a lovely recliner. Hang in there with Word Press. If I can do then you certainly can.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong with a relaxing day. That's the best thing about being retired, you can do what you like or don't do what you don't like. Great picture of Kelly and Pheebes, that Pheebes is a real character!
ReplyDeleteThe rain will wash the dusty solar panels. Keep on enjoying!
Just curious. Am I the only one not getting your blog posts though I am subscribed through e-mail. After a day or two without any I did go directly to your site and caught up on posts and have visited every day since.
ReplyDeleteI'm not so sure those email notifications work anymore. I think somebody else recently mentioned something about that.
ReplyDeleteWe spent the day driving McPherson Pass from King Valley to the Castle Dome Mine. That drive goes through some desert that must have got a lot of rain, everything was lush, blooming. Hardly looked like desert at all. Fun drive, high clearance and low range is recommended.
ReplyDeleteWe are born naked, wet, and hungry. Then they slap you on the ass and it goes downhill from there. Sheesh.

ReplyDeleteRelaxing days are good, no need to travel anywhere, enjoy the southwest scenery warm weather, and a good book.
ReplyDeleteAl, don't know if you saw this, but the Technomadia folks (Chris & Cherie) suggests that when the prepaid Verizon is going REAL SLOW, to turn it off for 5 or more seconds and turn back on, sometimes that helps, especially if the cell tower is busy but not overloaded. (Due to that race I am sure that tower was overloaded yesterday)
ReplyDeleteWhat is that big circle in the sand at the left front of your coach? Did someone do a doughnut there before you parked there? Or was it a landing spot for a flying saucer?
ReplyDeleteYou are right about the doughnut. Kids on ATV's are always tearing up the landscape by doing that. Lots of desert doughnuts out here where we are.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness you got back into the desert.
ReplyDeleteIt took me three months to set up my WordPress blog, a little bit of a challenge every day. Although mine is not the free version, how different can they be. And, I still use OLW.
