AJO'S FARMERS MARKET, SURPRISED BY BLOG READERS FROM FLORIDA, AND WHISPERING SAGUAROS

A RETURN TO AJO'S SPANISH PLAZA
Looks like 'Open  Live Writer' is up and running again but it's only temporary according to some of the techie folks at the Open Live Writer end of things.  I have decided not to return to my favorite Live Writer and will stay with Blogger and tough out their way clunky of doing things.  To go back to 'OLW' just means I would have to go through all this angst again down the road.  The writing is plainly on the wall for Open Live Writer and Picasa users and the sooner we adapt and move forward with those changes the better it will be for us.  The great Google Bulldozer has yet again plowed through our comfortable little world raising clouds of confusing dust and levelled the familiar playing field for all we little turnips out here!!
FRIDAY NIGHT'S TWILIGHT HOUR

SATURDAY MORNING'S SETTING MOON
With our desert floor brightly awash in nightly Moonbeams as we head towards a full Moon it is nice these nights to be outside bathed in it's ethereal glow.  Moonlight is special wherever one is but here in the desert it is especially so as one strolls among towering Saguaros thrusting themselves into the night sky reaching for the stars.
WITH MORNING'S  EARLY LIGHT SOFT UPON HER FACE THE SLEEPING INDIAN PRINCESS GENTLY RESTS
WE SURE LIKE OUR MORNING DESERT WALKS
Our day dawned bright and sunny again as we started our morning off under clear blue skies after yet another fiery sunrise.  Only sounds were the lonesome howls, yips, and cries of distant unseen Coyotes. No human sounds anywhere.  We definitely are where we want to be and happy that we are here:))

It was a big day in Quartzsite with the main event happening at the 'Big Tent'.  So glad we weren't in that manic crush of people.  For us the saying, 'been there done that' comes into play.  We did that Quartzsite thing for a number of years even being near the head of the line-up on opening tent day one time.  Facebook reminded me where we were 10 years ago today.  If It Wasn't For The Hordes Of People I Might Like This Place.  And here is opening day 11 years ago when Kelly and I stood in line, Shuffling And Jostling At The RV Show.
AJO'S SATURDAY MORNING FARMER'S MARKET

AND HERE'S A COUPLE LADIES DISHING UP SOME FOOD
A MEETING OF HATS

HMMMM, THAT GIRL IN THE FARMER'S SUSPENDERS SURE LOOKS FAMILIAR
A GREAT SATURDAY MORNING EVENT FOR THE LOCAL FOLKS TO GET TOGETHER
It was about 8:30 when all three of us piled into the Jeep and headed off in a northerly direction to Ajo.  It was a Saturday morning and Kelly wanted to stop at the town's Farmer's Market in their downtown Spanish plaza.  A couple loaves of homemade bread found their way into her basket.

I'M SURE I'VE SEEN THAT GIRL SOMEWHERE BEFORE

LOOKS LIKE THE HATS HAVE BEEN JOINED BY A HEADBAND
From the Farmer's Market it was up to Olsens IGA and Ace Hardware for a few things then back downtown to the Plaza again where Kelly popped into her favorite Ajo Thrift Store.

WELL OF COURSE THAT PRETTY BRITCHES GAL IS NONE OTHER THAN KELLY HER VERY SELF AND HERE SHE COMES OUT OF THE THRIFT STORE EMPTY HANDED AGAIN
Back at the Jeep Kelly noticed a familiar white truck camper parked behind us across the street.  Sure enough it was Bob and Cathie.  They had popped around to see us a few days ago and of course it was good to see them again.  While standing by their truck camper chatting two people came walking along behind us and we heard someone say, 'OMG'.  Turns out it was two long time blog readers and their first question was, 'where's Pheebs'.  Well Pheebs was in the Jeep of course but she too soon joined the group to meet Diane and Scott from Plantation Florida.  They had read we were in the area but were totally surprised to run into us near the Farmer's Market.  And we of course were likewise surprised to be recognized again.  They, like us, are fellow RV'ers and like others have told us over the years they were here in the Southwest because of reading the Bayfield Bunch blog.  Cathy and Bob had told us the same thing.  Always makes Kelly and I feel good to know that something we have done over these RVing years of ours has influenced other people's lives in a positive way.  Bob and Cathie are headed back to Phoenix today while Scott and Dianne were headed off somewhere but not sure where yet.  Yep, they sound like true RV'ers alright:))

SCOTT, DIANNE, CATHY, BOB, AND OLD GRUMPY HIMSELF

WITH SO MUCH ATTENTION PHEEBS IS HAVING A BLAST

THIS IS NANCY FROM THE KIM AND NANCY DUO WE MET AT THE LAUNDROMAT A COUPLE DAYS AGO

Heading out of Ajo on our way back to our rig we picked up coffee to go at the Ajo's Farmer Market Kitchen and even split ourselves a delicious donut.  Refilling our water jugs in Why we were soon back to our quiet little sun drenched spot at Gunsight Wash.
SPOTTED A COUPLE OF OUR DISTANT NEIGHBORS WEST OF US WHILE ON OUR WALK THIS AFTERNOON

THAT'S OUR RIG WAY OVER ON THE LEFT

PHEEBS SPOTS A BIG SAGUARO SHADOW ON THE DESERT FLOOR AND BELOW SHE LOOKS TO SEE WHERE I AM....WE KEEP A PRETTY CLOSE EYE ON EACH OTHER WHEN WE ARE OUT WALKING

AND THAT TOO IS OUR RIG
Another pleasant afternoon walk for Pheebs and I as we made our way out to visit a few more Saguaros standing tall on the desert floor.  With a westerly wind this afternoon I was able to stand beside the Saguaros while they whispered to me their desert secrets.
IT INDEED WAS AN ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON SAGUARO WALK
ANOTHER RELAXING AFTERNOON AT OUR  HOUSE

TONIGHT'S TWILIGHT HOUR

AS THE SUN SET TONIGHT SOMEONE PLAYED 'TAPS'  ON THEIR HORN OVER THERE AND IT SOUNDED NICE

TONIGHT'S NEARLY FULL MOON
GROANER'S CORNER:((  The Beer Prayer Our lager, Which art in barrels, Hollowed be thy drink. I will be drunk, At home as in the tavern. Give us this day our foamy head, And forgive us our spillages, As we forgive those who spill against us. And lead us not into incarceration, But deliver us from hangerovers. For thine is the beer, the bitter and The lager Forever and ever, Barmen.

As the storm raged, the captain realized his ship was sinking fast. He called out, "Anyone here know how to pray?" One man stepped forward. "Aye, Captain, I know how to pray." "Good," said the captain, "You pray while the rest of us put on our life jackets. We're one short."

Furious diner: Waiter! I found a cockroach in my meal! Call the manager in here! Waiter: That's no use, sir. He's scared of them, too!

  2. Al, you and Kelly look as though you both have lost some weight. Guess you don't need all those stored calories now that you're not in Bayfield for the winter. :-) Nice blog...sorry about LW and Picasa. As you know, for years, Picasa was my go-to for photo fixing....

  3. We too love the Ajo farmers market in the square such a wonderful peaceful place. Running into blog followers is always fun and a surprise. The Rv show is just a big bunch of vendors and after being here so many times not much left for us to see. Enjoy gun site wash, such a lovely area.

  4. Your photos of the moon reminded me that there will be a lunar eclipse tonight. If your not aware it would be some time around midnight here in the Yuma area.

  5. That must be the most relaxing place to camp. Always wanted to take my big telescope out to the desert. The clear dry air must make star gazing the best.
