KELLY’S MOM’S BACK YARD
It was 8:05 when the rains began. A rather depressing start to the day. Beginning to feel half civilized again but my recliner and I still remained very chummy today.
FROM THE CREEK LOOKING BACK TOWARDS THE HOUSE
With the street being close and some cars crazily racing up and down we keep Pheebe on a leash until we are able to walk around behind the house where she can freely run. With forethought, Kelly’s Dad years ago did not do like many folks and cut all the trees down in their backyards. He kept the trees and with a small creek babbling through Frank’s little forest is a very peaceful place to take a short stroll and any time we’ve been visiting here. Pheebs and I always walk back there looking for a few photos. It will be especially pretty in a few weeks when the leaves begin to change here.
KELLY’S DAD SPENT MANY HOURS WORKING AROUND AND SITTING BY THIS BABBLING BACKYARD BROOK
Surprised to see the Sun pop out about mid morning and feel the temperature go up. And here I thought I wouldn’t have to use that miserable ‘H’ word again this year but but I’ll be damned if that wretched humidity didn’t mess with my day again. Despite the stickiness I decided to quickly take advantage of our rain spattered windows and…….clean the rig’s windows. While I was at it I managed to clean a few of Kelly’s Mom’s house windows as well. She can see the birds better at the feeders now from her kitchen table.
CREEK WATERS ARE MUDDIED FROM MORNING RAINS
PHEEBS PATIENTLY WAITS WHILE I TAKE A FEW PHOTOS
With her Mom’s Rav 4 Toyota Kelly slipped into town for a few groceries. She returned with the largest Pizza box I’ve ever seen with three of the largest pizza slices ever. Plus 3 yummy cupcakes with about a foot and a half of icing piled on top.
I’M NOT EXAGGERATING WHEN I SAY ONE NEEDS TWO HANDS TO LIFT THE GIANT SLICES OF PIZZA IN THIS BOX
KELLY’S DAD WAS AN AVID GARDNER AND MUCH OF THEIR BACK YARD WAS ONCE HOME TO MANY VEGETABLES
Radar weather map showed rains heading our way again this afternoon so I hunkered down for another long afternoon. Luckily I have my music, my Kindle books, and my computer at my fingertips. Of all three it is my daily ever present music which keeps me on an even keel. Take away my music and I would likely fast unravel. I come from a family of music listener’s and enthusiasts. My Mother, my Uncle Harry, my Aunt Jean, and me. I grew up with music always playing in the background. And it hasn’t changed one bit in all these 70+ years. For me stepping into a house without music is akin to stepping into a silently cold refrigerator. I believe music is the calming heart of any home. The kitchen comes a distant second……………..
GROANER’S CORNER:(( A teacher told her young class to ask their parents for a family story with a moral at the end of it, and to return the next day to tell their stories. In the classroom the next day, Joe gave his example first, "My dad is a farmer and we have chickens. One day we were taking lots of eggs to market in a basket on the front seat of the truck when we hit a big bump in the road; the basket fell off the seat and all the eggs broke. The moral of the story is not to put all your eggs in one basket..""Very good," said the teacher.
Next, Mary said, "We are farmers too. We had twenty eggs waiting to hatch, but when they did we only got ten chicks. The moral of this story is not to count your chickens before they're hatched.." "Very good," said the teacher again, very pleased with the response so far. Next it was Barney's turn to tell his story: "My dad told me this story about my Aunt Karen.... Aunt Karen was a flight engineer in the war and her plane got hit. She had to bail out over enemy territory and all she had was a bottle of whisky, a machine gun and a machete." "Go on," said the teacher, intrigued. "Aunt Karen drank the whisky on the way down to prepare herself; then she landed right in the middle of a hundred enemy soldiers. She killed seventy of them with the machine gun until she ran out of bullets. Then she killed twenty more with the machete till the blade broke. And then she killed the last ten with her bare hands." "Good heavens," said the horrified teacher, "What did your father say was the moral of that frightening story?"
"Stay away from Aunt Karen when she's been drinking..."

Two nuns are out driving when a vampire drops onto the bonnet of their car. "Quick sister," screams one nun, "Show him your cross!" So the other nun leans out of the window and shouts, "Hey! You! Buzz off!"

Uh, huh. " Cupcakes with a foot and a half of icing on top"? And you thought that 57 foot RV would surprise us? We are used to your slight exaggerations. I'm glad you're feeling a bit more upbeat.
ReplyDeleteNice to enjoy your music I wish I could still hear it enough enjoy, But then I have my kitchen that keeps us busy and happy. My music I can enjoy by myself with my new hearing aides bluetooth but nobody else can hear it. Hopefully you will have some decent weather for a bit more.

Just loved the photos tonight. What beautiful surroundings that Kelly's Mom has to enjoy on a daily and how great for her to have a son-in-law that is willing to clean windows!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you both and family. That is quite a lot of property for a 93 year old. Enjoy your time there, it looks tranquil.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful to have that lovely yard right out the back door! I keep hoping this nasty humidity will finally move out - can't happen soon enough. We always have music on in the rig and the Jeep.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Al. Wished you a good one yesterday but more often than not my comments disappear.
