A LONE FREIGHTER PLYS CALM LAKE HURON WATERS HEADING NORTH
Hurricanes generally sweep north after striking America's East coast and rain themselves out in the Canadian Maritime Provinces. Chances are good the hurricane will have blown itself out long before we get there and we'll have sunny skies for our travels. Noticed temperatures this morning in Campbelton New Brunswick was 35F. Guess we had better pack an extra set of woollies if we decide to head up around that way.
ON OUR WAY OUT OF THE PARK THIS MORNING WE PASSED LITTLE MOLLY POPPINS ON HER WAY TO THE MAIL ROOM TO SCOOP ALL THE A&W COUPONS OUT OF THE RECYCLING BIN
Light showers in the night with a rainy drizzle for most of our day. Armed with the latest A&W coupons (compliments of Molly Poppins of course) Pheebs and I took advantage of a Bacon & Egger sandwich, hash brown, and coffee shortly after rolling into Goderich. Cruised down around the harbor and beach areas before exiting Goderich through half a dozen streets on the lake side of town and steering a course for home. Rained all the way.
NOBODY AT THE DOGGY WALKING AREA SO PHEEBS AND I GOT US SOME BEACHCOMBER TIME IN
NOTICE THE NICE CLEAR LAKE HURON WATER
HARD TO TELL WHERE WATER MEETS SKY
LAKE LEVEL SEEMS TO BE DOWN A FEW INCHES
IF YOU LOOK VERY CLOSELY AT THIS PHOTO YOU CAN JUST BARELY MAKE OUT THE SUPERSTRUCTURE OF A LARGE FREIGHTER PASSING BY…..TIP: GO TO THE END OF THE ROCKS AND LOOK UP
IT WAS A DRIZZLY MORNING WALK ALONG THE LAKE FOR A FEW FOLKS
It was a good day for taking care of things inside so that is basically what we did. Lots of little things to fuss around with before we leave. Panic has not set in yet and is probably not likely to. For seasoned Snow Birds like ourselves who have done this over and over these past dozen + years it's kind of old hat for us plus the novelty of traveling has worn off a bit. But from experience I also know this...…..as soon as we get the big wheels rolling Sunday morning our adventuress spirit will once again revive itself and come alive. Always happens that way and especially for me.
GODERICH LIGHTHOUSE
THAT IS THE BEACON LIGHT YOU SEE
I’M GUESSING THE CAR ABOVE IS A STUDABAKER AND BELOW IS A MINI-MINOR STILL NEEDING A BED PAN
HEY WHAT THE HECK IS AWESOME TRAVELS GEORGE UP TO THAT HE HASN’T TOLD US ABOUT:))
Well, do I put all the summer lawn stuff away now or wait until we return later sometime in November. Think I might split on that with maybe putting half of it away. I don’t anticipate any hard core freezing before we return either so plan to leave the outside water on and our pond pump going. I’ve noticed already with much cooler temperatures my 3 pond fish have already slowed down. Only half a dozen frogs this year so I put some sand and mud in the pond for them to burrow into. Plan to leave the pond pump going all winter to bubble and oxygenate the water for the 3 Amigo fish.

Where do you come up with those "Groaner's Corner" items. You had me rolling on the floor laughing reading the ones above. You should have nice weather leaving this weekend, I think and probably for a while after. Wishing you safe travels!
ReplyDeleteOh Pheebs you indeed look cool in your dad’s hat!
ReplyDeleteAnd after enlarging your photo to the max, I did see the freighter
~Betty
The photos of Pheebs in Dad's hat are just the best!!!
ReplyDeleteDo LOVE the photos of Pheebes with the hat. Gonna save them. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteAnd the old standby... if Tuesday Weld married Frederick March II, she would be...? Tuesday March II...
ReplyDeleteI think those Minors needed a drip pan when brand new. Great doggie in the hat pics. I know I still get anxious preparing to depart for the season, but forget the last place before I get to the other place. We start year 8 in soon. We still like this lifestyle for now. Perfect weather sure helps not working days slide by.
ReplyDeleteLol, that Yates fellow up there is not me, most likely a distance relative. i am too busy to be a Mayor, beside would have to stay on one place. I had 1960 mini minor similar to that one and had a ball with it, such a fun little car.
ReplyDeleteBefore you know it Sunday morning will be here and you be on the road heading east.
Are you going to get extra medical travel insurance re out of province travel?
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see all the pics from your upcoming travels. Sounds like you'll be jumping into winter up there! Love the clouds over the lake with all the blending colors. Yes Pheebs, you're adorable :-))))
ReplyDeleteI am so mad at myself for not traveling to the maritime provinces when I could have. I look forward to your photos and perceptions.
