SNOW IN THE AREA AS LIBBY HAS HER FOUR HEAVY DUTY WINTER/DESERT TIRES PUT ON

DSC_6816

Well at least I had a destination this morning and notice I used the singular ‘I’ instead of the plural ‘we’.  Had to leave the furry little Pheeber Buns home as I headed to Huron Tire & Auto in Clinton.  Had a 9 a.m. appointment to have Libby’s summer tires taken off and our winter snow/desert sand knobbly gob tires put on.  We’re ready for whatever now.  Doug, one of the fellas at the tire place said it was snowing this morning when he left his farm to drive to work.

COME WHAT MAY WE ARE AT LEAST READY FOR WINTER

Driving home I definitely noticed the increased road noise from the heavier treaded tires but it’s one of those noises that will not be noticeable once we get used to it.

Arriving back home I wasn’t long in loading up the little Spooger Buns and heading into Bayfield to pick up a coffee to go.  Had one of Kelly’s pumpkin muffins with us…..but not for long:))

Air temperature would have been tolerable if it hadn’t been for the icy winds blowing up from the southwest driving the wind factor down around the freezing mark I suspect.  Getting out for a couple leg stretches along the way we weren’t long in hustling ourselves back into the warm Jeep.  Today was an early prelude of what’s to come.

Facebook took me back in time with it’s ‘On This Day’ feature.  A year ago today we were in Sarasota Florida bombing around through the traffic with Aunt Jean (Speedy Gonzales) at the wheel.  She took us to ‘Miller’s Ale House’ for supper.

Can’t exactly remember where we were on Halloween night in 2006.  My blog at the time was on Microsoft’s ‘My Space’ and not on Blogger.  Below are a few pics of the Bayfield Bunch somewhere north of Indianapolis on our very first RV Snow Bird adventure to the American Southwest.

And it was also Halloween Night 15 years ago we moved from the old farmhouse near Fullarton Ontario to our present digs here at the 5 Seasons Estates on the outskirts of Bayfield Ontario.  It was a very dark and forboding cold rainy night when Kelly in her little dark green Mazda 343 pulled out of the farm driveway for the last time with our dog Max and I following in our fully loaded Dodge Ram pick-up truck.  It was droopy bag of happy and sad emotions for us.  Happy to be heading for our new to us cozy little place in Bayfield but sad to be leaving the old farmhouse behind after 7 years of wonderful memories.

YES IT TURNED OUT TO BE ANOTHER HEAVY CLOUD COVER DAY

GROANER’S CORNER:((  A hindu priest, rabbi and a lawyer were driving down the road, when the car breaks down. Fortunately finding a farmhouse nearby, the farmer informed them that he had only one spare room, and that it had only two twin beds. They were welcome to it, but one of them had to sleep in the barn. After much discussion, the hindu volunteered to go to the barn. A few moments later, a knock on the bedroom door, and the hidu explained that there was a cow in the barn, and cows are sacred and he could not possibly sleep in the barn with a cow. Annoyed, the rabbi volunteered. A few moments later, a knock on the door. The rabbi explained that there was a pig in the barn and that he, being very orthodox, could not possibly spend the evening in the barn with the origin of pork. Finally the lawyer said that he would go to the barn. A few moments later there was a knock on the door. It was the cow and the pig!

Marvin had been fishing all day without any luck. On the way home he stopped at a fish market and said to the clerk, "Please stand there and throw me a few of your biggest trout."  The clerk was puzzled. "Throw them to you? What for?"  "I may be a poor fisherman," Marvin replied, "but I'm no liar. I want to be able to say I caught them myself."

Knock Knock
Who's there?
Beets!
Beets who?
Beets me.

  2. Loved the walk back in time.....that was all before I was a follower of your blog.

  3. When you move it does come with a mixed bag of emotions, but I find the looking forward ones dominate. Passed by Fullarton on our meandering drive home from London today.

  4. I recognize those tires, have them on my jeep. Mine are a bit larger, 35". Good all around tires, and quiet on pavement compared to M&S. Nice photos as always.

  6. It is nice to have wonderful memories to look back on. Looking at your pictures from today the clouds look the same as the ones we had here today, dark and grey, with little peeks of blue sky. Winter and the, four letter word, white stuff is coming faster then I care to think of.

  7. Fun pictorial history. Dedicated readers will recall many of those moments and enjoy reminiscing, Worth repeating this “Day in History” every month or so. Shows you occasionally were still in Canada as winter arrived, and survived. As for that photo of Kelly and her children...very handsome, attractive offspring.

  8. I like your photos looking back one year at a time. It looks like the very first night you camped at Mounds State park was about 10 miles from the town I grew up in. There is a lot of nice travel and memories in those photos and a blog is a great place to record it for easy access later on.
