NO THAT IS NOT A SHARK’S FIN IN THE WATER

After gloomily sitting in the house all day Saturday avoiding the cold gray and wet going on outside I knew I could not repeat a second day like that so despite it being cold gray and wet again Sunday morning Pheebs and I fired up the Jeep's heater, cranked up the tunes, and headed out to see if we could find us something remotely interesting.

LEAVES ARE BECOMING LESS EACH DAY

IN THE FORESTS WHERE TREES ARE SHELTERED FROM THE WIND MANY LEAVES ARE STILL HANGING ON IN THE FACE OF WINTER’S COMING ONSLAUGHT

The closer we came to Goderich the dryer roads became and I could see a few small patches of blue sky through the cloud cover out over the lake.  Well that sure sparked up my shorts.  With one of Kelly’s delicious pumpkin muffins with us we snagged a McDonald’s coffee and headed for the harbor and beach area.

THE HELENA G WAS IN PORT THIS MORNING AND IT’S THE FIRST TIME I HAVE SEEN THIS VERY LARGE BULK CARRIER

I LIKE IT WHEN THINGS ARE PAINTED WITH BRIGHT COLORS AND THAT LARGE ORANGE OBJECT IS AN ENCLOSED LIFEBOAT WITH THE SMALL ORANGE BOAT MAYBE BEING A RESCUE TYPE BOAT WHICH CAN BE QUICKLY LOWERED BY THAT WHITE CRANE

BECAUSE THE HELENA G IS RIDING HIGH IN THE WATER I AM GUESSING IT HASN’T TAKEN ON IT’S HEAVY LOAD FROM THE GRAIN ELEBATORS YET

THAT SHARK LIKE FIN IN THE WATER IS ACTUALLY THE TIP OF A LARGE PROPELLER

I THINK THIS FREIGHTER IS CALLED A ‘SALTY’ BECAUSE IT ALSO SAILS THE WORLD’S OCEANS

THERE’S A LOT OF ELECTRONIC GEAR ATOP THE BRIDGE AND WHEELHOUSE….THE CAPTAIN’S QUARTERS ARE PROBABLY RIGHT UNDER THE BRIDGE

Lake Huron waters had calmed themselves after last week’s big winds whipping it into a frenzy.  Today’s winds were light so standing on the shoreline with cool temperatures upon us felt comfortable.  Noticed a departing lake freighter far out on the horizon  along with a few fishing boats.  I think the freighter may have been the ‘Algorail’ which had just taken on a load of rock salt at the Sifto Salt Mine.

AN OLD ANCHOR FROM DAYS GONE BY

ACROSS THE HARBOR ON THE NORTH SIDE IS ANCHORED THE COAST GUARD BOAT CAPE DISCOVERY AND BEHIND IT A COAST GUARD MOTOR RESCUE LAUNCH

Cruised around a few Goderich backstreets looking at Halloween decorations before setting a slow scenic course for home.  Skies partially cleared for awhile before clouding over again but at least we were rain free for the rest of the day and Pheebs and I did manage to get in a short afternoon walk between raindrops.

Dust had settled a bit this morning after yesterday’s Doctor call and we were able to talk over a few travel options with clearer heads.  We discussed going to Florida but the monkey wrench in that plan is Kelly’s abdominal scan which may be the end of December or early January.  Driving back either in the Jeep or Motorhome for a half hour scan didn’t make a lot of sense and for Kelly to fly back to either Detroit or Toronto then take a shuttle bus to London for her scan then wait for the results didn’t make much sense either.  Kelly wasn’t keen on that idea and I wasn’t either.  Most sensible thing for us to do is stay here and sit tight until after the scan results are in.  Depending on when the endoscopy bi-opsy procedure is done and the results known we will at that time decide if we have a chance to head for the Southwest sometime early in the new year.  Until we get that date nailed down we are again in a state of limbo.  With the slowness of our health system it could be weeks or longer before we even hear back about any appointment regarding the endoscopy bi–opsy procedure.  Nothing we can do about it, it’s just the way it is here……………
