Kelly’s Doctor phoned this morning about 11:30. On the recommendation of the medical tumor board they want Kelly to first have another abdominal scan in early January as well as a consultation appointment with another specialist who will do an ultra-sound guided endoscopic biopsy after that. Her London Doctor is now setting up those appointments so I think it is almost safe to say we will not be heading for the Southwest this winter. If by chance her abdominal scan is early January and the the other two appointments are not until late March or April then maybe we might have a small chance to slip away right after her scan in early January but who knows. We’ll just have to wait and see what dates the appointments and procedures will be. Kelly’s health and well being comes first and that is our priority………………..
GROANER’S CORNER:(( Hello. Could you connect me to the person who gives information about patients? I'd like to find out if a patient is getting better, doing as expected or getting worse." The voice on the other end said, "What is the patient's name and room number?"
"Sarah Finkel, room 302." "I'll connect you with the nursing station . . . ." "3-A Nursing Station. How can I help you?" "I'd like to know the condition of Sarah Finkel in room 302." "Just a moment. Let me look at her records. Mrs. Finkel is doing very well. In fact, she's had two full meals, her blood pressure is fine, she is to be taken off the heart monitor in a couple of hours and, if she continues this improvement, Dr. Cohen is going to send her home Tuesday at noon." The woman said, "What a relief! Oh, that's fantastic... that's wonderful news!" The nurse said, "From your enthusiasm, I take it you are a close family member or a very close friend!" "Neither! I AM Sarah Finkel in 302! Nobody here tells me a damn thing!!!!!

ReplyDeleteSending positive thoughts your way., love and hugs, too!
ReplyDeleteAl: How about going before January?
ReplyDeleteSending healing thoughts to both of you. Hope things work out as well for you as they did for me when I had all kinds of biopsies and surgery last year. I feel better than I have in a very long time now. Arizona will be here when you are ready.
ReplyDeleteWe are sending oodles of good vibes and happy thoughts northward, Al and Kelly! Hope you guys can go see Aunt Jean sometime this winter.
ReplyDeleteHate when life throws these curves at you, but like you said Kelly's health and well being is the priority . I will also send you some positive thoughts for bit of you and am sure things will work out and you will be back into the southwest hopefully sooner than later.
ReplyDeleteBeing positive thinking sure will help.
I am sorry Kelly isn't feeling well and what happened with the Dr saying"don't worry about it" he obviously didn't know you guys are busy traveling kind of people. Wishing you the best and looking forward to some winter photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm a prayer warrior and will offer my prayers and positive thoughts for Kelly. Hopefully, this is a blip on your screen of life. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteNow you know there are more tests needed and you'll be in Bayfield longer. It will be a big change to see photographs from winter there - and you thrive with change. Hugs to you both.
ReplyDeleteHow disappointing for you both but you are right Kelly's long term health is the most important thing. Lot's of positive thoughts and love being sent your way.
ReplyDeleteI'll be sending lots of thoughts Kelly's way. I see one of my London surgeons on Tuesday and will know more details then. Amazing what the modern medical system can do. Meantime, get that winter coat ready, 'cause we expect wonderful snowy pictures coming up.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear about the change of plans but hoping the best for Kelly. All the best for you.
ReplyDeleteoh, Al. I am so sorry that you have to deal with this turn of events! I certainly understand that you have no choice. A previous commenter asked why you don't go before January. I would think the whims of Old Man Winter figures in that. You can't risk not being able to reach where you need to be at a certain time. Of course you have to put health at the top of the list of priorities.
ReplyDeletePlease do keep on talking to us! You are family. We care.
Hoping for the best for Kelly! Those Canadian doctors sure do take their own sweet time about getting people in to see them. I can't imagine it taking that long to get a scan done or to see a specialist.
ReplyDeleteAh shoot!!! Kelly comes first. Get her patched up and as good as new. You should go to FL now before the rush. Visit Aunt Jean...it will feel good in the sunshine.
ReplyDeleteYou betchyourbippy Kelly comes first. We are all praying for favorable tests and prognosis Al Let her know of all us folks praying for her.
ReplyDeleteOh Al, I'm so sorry tbings turned out like this. Sending the very best positive thoughts Kelly's way for a good outcome. We will all be watching her progress and praying for both of you to get back on a,sunny road very quickly.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that a wrench has been thrown into your plans. Sure hope all goes well for Kelly, as you said her health and well-being comes first. Sending positive thoughts Kelly's way.

Sending best wishes for speedy procedure appointments, with results that nothing further needs to be done.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about Kelly's health being your number one priority. Sending lots of positive vibes and love to you three:)
ReplyDeleteSorry to read you have had a change in plans. We understand the frustration as we are in a holding pattern right now, also. I dislike when other's seem to be in control of things. Sending prayers and positive thoughts your way that after all the test are over and done with Kelly's health is going in a positive direction.
ReplyDeleteI know it must be hard to share this news with us but it is much appreciated. We'll keep all our bits crossed that they find nothing there that is not suppose to be there.
ReplyDeleteWishing a very good out come for Kelly and her health improves. Will keep you both in my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear that. Hope all turns out OK.
ReplyDeleteMy thought and prayers are with Kelly and you too, Al. You are doing the right thing to stay close to home and doctors during this time. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason whether we see it at the time or not. Take care of each other and of course, little Pheebs.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry for you both. Do hope everything works out well for Kelly. Keep your chins up, we'll all still be here reading every day.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear this both because you don't get to go as you both wanted to but also because it puts you in a limbo we know all to well. Health concerns definitely trump. We have you both in our thoughts. Hold on to each other. Hope your winter is one of beauty.
ReplyDeleteWhen life throws those disappointments at you, the only way to handle it is with grace and acceptance. As a mostly house-bound former traveler, I know what a disappointment you both must be feeling, but hopefully Kelly will get only good reports.
ReplyDeleteThe groaner was the best I've ever read! I'll remember that if I'm ever in the hospital!
A one-year hiatus from the SW will make it doubly fresh when you return in October 2018. And health concerns, as well, off the agenda for you both. That’s what we’re all hoping for.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear of this derailment guys but yes, health comes before all else. Hoping for the very best results for Kelly. We too are still waiting till mid week to get the go ahead to leave on our very first journey south based on the follow-up on Graham’s laser surgery last week. Always tough to be at the mercy of medical scheduling and such. All the best to you both and wishing you the best outcome!
ReplyDeleteSorry for the news, Al and Kelly. You'll be in our prayers. Hope everything turns out good and you get to head south for at least part of the winter. Max from Illinois.
ReplyDeleteJust glad you didn't get that call half way to the SW. Kelly will be in my prayers. Hugs and prayers to all three of you!
ReplyDeleteKelly and you are in our prayers. Yes we agree Kelly's health come first then you can enjoy the travelling again.
ReplyDeleteLife, it's full of twists and turns. Stay upbeat, think positive...
ReplyDeletelove to you both,
mark
Sorry to hear about the delay. Hoping all goes well with Kelly's tests.
ReplyDeleteAll the best to you both! Take care of yourselfs. Pheebs will get you through it.
ReplyDeleteOh I’m so sorry. I know you both energized for the trip south, and now have to spin that around for the stay home. Sending you lots of good vibes for the upcoming tests. I hope you’ll be able to slip away in Jan.
ReplyDeleteNina
Why not make a run for it now? You'd have at least two months to be out of the snow.
ReplyDeleteSorry your plans must change. Wishing Kelly the best possible outcome from the tests. Definitely her
ReplyDeletehealth must come first. You just never know Al, after so many winters away, you might enjoy
taking beautiful snow photographs. Lee Valley sells a terrific product for preventing falls on ice. Hope if you don't own any, you will check them out on line. They are not cheap but so easy to slip on & would be something that allows you & Kelly to get outdoors safely. I get lots of use from the pair I have.
Best Wishes to you both.
Sorry to see that you have to change your plans, But Kelly's health is far more important than going somewhere. Best of luck.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Kelly's health issues. Praying that everything turns out okay and all the appointments turn out to be good ones.
ReplyDeleteSo Sorry to to hear about the Med Report. No need to add any more activities than is required at the present. You are in our Prayers for Positive Results and a "GOOD WINTER"
ReplyDeleteAll the Best
Glenn & Marilynne Richards
I'm so sorry..But if it is all clear in early January until April, I would throw stuff in the rig and boogie South..maybe Florida or the Gulf Coast. It isn't as far as the Southwest and has some very nice places to stay! Hugs to you both. Keep your chin up..We missed last Winter and are now able to get away this Winter..Sending good Karma to Bayfield!!!
ReplyDeleteOur thoughts and prayers are with you both. Take care.
ReplyDeletePrayers for good results from Kelly's tests, good health for you both and a great winter regardless of where it is spent.
ReplyDeleteRudy & Alice
Hoping for the best. I sympathize about health issues interfering with travel as I find myself down before really hitting the road.
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear your plans are on hold for a little while. I hope everything will go smooth for Kelly with all her tests, and you can get on the road again.
ReplyDeleteAnother scan in "early January" when this is October doesn't sound like they are very worried. I hope Kelly comes through this in fine shape. I'm sending positive thoughts her way,
