An overnight frost on the pumpkins alright and a thin skiff of ice on Libby’s windshield that easily came off with a squirt of winter windshield washer and a couple swipes of the wiper blades. It was awhile before Pheebs and I were able to get the windows down and feel comfortable with Libby’s heater going this morning though.
A few days ago when in Goderich I happened to swing by the Huron County Museum and noticed they had a second military vehicle outside on exhibit. I walked around the vehicle several times looking for a plaque or something telling what it was but found nothing. A short distance away sits an Army Tank which I think is a Sherman but again nothing to tell a person anything about it.
TWO MILITARY VEHICLES ON THE MUSEUM’S NORTH SIDE
NOTHING ANYWHERE TO TELL WHAT THIS MILITARY PIECE OF MACHINERY IS
WHILE LOOKING AT THIS VEHICLE THE WORD ‘LAV’ POPPED INTO MY MIND SO LATER i LOOKED IT UP ON GOOGLE AND FOUND THIS…LAV 111…….. ‘A-HA’
LIBBY AND THE LAV
WITH THAT BIG ARMORED BACK DOOR IT’S DEFINITELY A PERSONNEL CARRIER MEANT TO PROTECTIVELY TRANSPORT INFANTRY
IT’S BEEN MANY YEARS SINCE I HAVE BEEN THROUGH THIS EXCELLENT HURON COUNTY MUSEUM AND I REALLY MUST PUT IT ON MY LIST FOR NEXT YEAR…THIS IS TRULY A FASCINATING PLACE AND A QUALITY MUSEUM
I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SHERMAN TANK
SHERMAN AND THE LAV
A swing through Walmart, Tim Hortons, some gas and a swoop down around the Goderich harbor this morning before heading home. Didn’t take any photos along the way and just sat back and totally enjoyed Autumn’s fine scenery passing by. Such a special time of year and being outside puttering about in the yard later surrounded by Autumns golden glow just gave me the nicest of feelings. It’s no wonder I so look forward to this time of year every year.
SPOTTED THIS ?? IN GODERICH THIS MORNING
MONDAY MORNING STAFF MEETING IN THE WALMART PARKING LOT
Been wanting a dash cam for the Jeep and Motorhome for a very long time now and after seeing one on sale for a substantial saving at the Canadian Tire store last week I finally decided the time was right. Have always felt dash cams are a good safety awareness idea for many reasons such as in the case of an accident or theft etc. This particular cam has two lenses, one stationary lens facing forward through the windshield and a second lens which can be swiveled around to show a vehicles interior. Both cams show on a split screen at the same time. Right now the cams in the Jeep and when we head out in the Motorhome the cam will be in the Big EEE’s windshield recording the way ahead. The cam also has audio but I haven’t got to all the settings yet and figured out things like date and time or how to program the one lens full screen option. Maybe by next year at this time I might have the correct date figured out.
SPLIT SCREEN SHOWS BOTTOM CAM POINTED TOWARDS PASSENGER SEAT WHILE MAIN CAM POINTS STRAIGHT OUT THE WINDSHIELD…CAM IS MOUNTED DIRECTLY UNDER REAR VIEW MIRROW BY A SUCTION DEVICE ON THE WINDSHIELD
With a nice sunny but cool Autumn day going on we were both busy. I vacuumed out some bins and re-arranged some stuff while Kelly, with the rig’s furnace on’ packed a lot of stuff into the coach.
THE LAST TIME I HOOKED UP THE JEEP WAS NEAR WILLIAMS ARIZONA OVER SIX AND A HALF MONTHS AGO SO I PLAN TO RE-FAMILIARIZE MYSELF WITH THE HOOKING UP PROCEDURE SOMETIME THIS WEEK THEN TAKE LIBBY AND THE BIG EEE FOR A SPIN TO MAKE SURE I HAVEN’T FORGOT HOW TO DO IT
PHEEBS WILL BE THE NEW ‘ROAD CREW’ BOSS THIS WINTER…”OK YOU BUNCH OF CARNIVAL BARKERS LISTEN UP”!!
“AND DON’T YOU GUYS GIVE ME NO SASS”
Now here’s an odd little something. Standing in the living room earlier looking out the window at Libby and the Big EEE I was struck with the thought that by golly I’m already looking forward to getting home in the Spring so Pheebs and I can head out on our morning drives to check out all our spots around the area after Ontario’s long winter. What!! Okay so I don’t expect anyone anywhere to understand my line of thinking on this when we haven’t even left yet so don’t waste your time trying to figure it out. It’s just me being me again………….
RAKING UP NEWLY FALLEN PINE NEEDLES TO SPREAD AROUND ON TOP OF OUR CEDAR BARK MULCH IN THE FLOWERBEDS…I’LL PUT ANOTHER LAYER OF CEDAR MULCH ON IN THE SPRING IN HOPES THE COMBINED LAYERS ARE THICK ENOUGH TO THWART WEEDS
THE WEIGHT OF WINTER’S SNOW WILL PACK THESE NEEDLES DOWN INTO THE MULCH MAKING FOR A SOLID OVERALL GROUND COVER
THINK I’M GOING TO HAVE TO INVEST SOME TIME IN THINKING UP HOW TO BUILD ME A NEW BIRD FEEDER NEXT SPRING CAUSE THE FURRY GUYS ARE GETTING MORE EATS THAN THE FEATHERY GUYS
WE HAVE A NUMBER OF LITTLE SUMMERTIME CHARACTERS AROUND OUR YARD AND EACH FALL IT’S ALWAYS A CHORE REMEMBERING WHERE THEY ALL ARE AND ROUNDING THEM UP FOR STORAGE IN THE SHED
Sitting here tonight I was thinking ahead wondering where we might be a month from now on November 10th and i’m guessing somewhere between Florida and Arizona maybe. it would only be a couple days after the American Presidential election and I’m thinking we just might have a lot of folks clinging to our coach begging us to take them back to Canada with us. Quite a thought eh……………..
<<< CAN YOU SEE A GHOSTLY IMAGE TOP CENTER RIGHT?? I THINK IT MIGHT BE ONE OF THOSE SCARY CLOWN FACES EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT
GROANER’S CORNER:(( A man calls home to his wife and says, "Honey I have been asked to go fishing at a big lake up in Canada with my boss and several of his friends. We'll be gone for a week. This is a good opportunity for me to get that promotion I've been wanting. Would you please pack me enough clothes for a week and set out my rod and tackle box. We're leaving from the office and I will swing by the house to pick my things up. Oh! Please pack my new blue silk pajamas." The wife thinks this sounds a little fishy but being a good wife that she is, she does exactly what her husband asked. The following weekend he comes home a little tired but otherwise looking good. The wife welcomes him home and asks if he caught many fish.
He says, "Yes! Lot's of Walleye, some Bluegill, and a few Pike. But why didn't you pack my new blue silk pajamas like I asked you to do?"
The wife replied, "I did, they were in your tackle box."

I think the car is a '51 Dodge Coronet.
ReplyDeleteI think Nancy is about right about the 51 Dodge, probably a "Business Coupe" I almost bought on like that back in to 60's.
ReplyDeleteSoon we be outta here and will be son exciting.
In spite of my sister living in Goderich, we've never been to that museum. Must put it on my list too. As for looking forward to the winter in the south at the same time as the spring back here, I understand that perfectly. We need everything we can get to look forward to at this age!
ReplyDeleteSo true, so very very true.
ReplyDeleteAt least you can go back to Canada after the elections.
ReplyDeleteI agree the car is a '51 Dodge Club Coupe. I don't think the business coupe had the rear quarter window.
ReplyDeleteA very enjoyable post! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteFor many of us having a home base is very important. Maybe especially if one lives in Canada. The feel of having a place to come "HOME" to is a precious one.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree Peter and I wouldn't want it any other way anymore.
ReplyDeleteI think a home base at our age is best, but I would prefer it to me someplace more scenic and warmer than North Central Illinois!!!!
ReplyDeleteLack of signage is a pet peeve, especially at places that are intended to educate us about the history displayed there. Pheebs looks like she's ready to head out with her crew! While I don't share the desire for a home base, I surely feel the tug to familiar places after months in new ones :-)
ReplyDeleteI have been threatening to move to Canada after the elections--esp if the male one wins--but unfortunately I fear for this country if either one is elected!!
ReplyDeleteJust came back from a short trip myself in running away from 'Matthew"--DD and I went to Atlanta and spent a day at the Aquarium--that was neat and I took me some 500 or more photos while there!!!
everything here and at my daughters are fine--
love and laughter, di
I think of it as totally loving it here at home in Canada, loving the trip South and then loving where we end up for the winter. I hate to leave the South for the North and then the reverse in the fall. I think that is perfect to be content where ever we land.
ReplyDeleteOne more thing, we have decided to wait until the outcome of the US election before we cross the border into Mexico this winter. You just never know!
