A BUZZY BEE GATHERS NECTER FROM OUR AZALEA PLANT
Despite an absolutely gorgeous day I decided to stay in this morning & have another crack at my little painting project. I well knew what had gone wrong a few days ago so this time I was better prepared & in better shape.
ALTHOUGH BLURRY I INCLUDED THIS ONE TO SHOW MOVEMENT IN THE BEE’S WINGS
It seems to be my normal fair nowadays to wake up on the grouchy irritable side. In other words I always seem to get out of the wrong side of my recliner. Don’t know why that is but it is. After an unusual poor night’s sleep I woke up Wednesday morning loaded for bear. I was even worse than my normal cranky self. One would think experience would tell one never to attempt any projects when one is in that bear like mood. But no, experience for me at times is a very elusive, fleeting & forgetful thing. My project was to paint a double bedroom ceiling. Never my favorite thing to paint, a ceiling that is. Kelly had brought home some kind of Mossmagator applicator pad for painting ceilings so I was in trouble right off the bat. I was already irked I had to paint the already white ceiling……white!!
THESE WALLS WILL BE WALLPAPERED
THIS LARGER ROOM WAS ORIGINALLY 2 BEDROOMS UNTIL I GOT UP ONE MORNING YEARS AGO & DECIDED TO TAKE THE WALL OUT
<<< PLAN IS TO CARPET THE FLOOR & PAINT THOSE WALLS ON THE LEFT A LIGHTER COLOR
For me the painting pad was a disaster & I soon had paint on me, the floor, my pants, the ladder, the kitchen sink & counter as well as the kitchen window plus spatters all over the dishes sitting in the drying rack. Did I mention I wasn’t even painting in the kitchen. It was a bedroom ceiling I was working on & I never even got a quarter of it done before I had a melt down. Happy to say this mornings painting went off without a hitch when I went back to using my trusty old brush & roller system. Painting applicators?? Phooey!! Starting a project after a poor night’s sleep?? Double Phooey!!!!
A FEW MORE COUNTRY HOMES & FARM HOUSES FROM THURSDAY MORNINGS DRIVE
I HAVE A LOT OF NEW FARM HOUSE PHOTOS & HOPE TO HAVE THEM UPLOADED TO MY ‘FARM HOUSES’ ALBUM SOMETIME OVER THE NEXT COUPLE RAINY DAYS
FOUND THIS LITTLE LUTHERON CHURCH IN THE SMALL COMMUNITY OF WARTBURG. YES THAT IS IT’S REAL NAME….THIS CHURCH & THE LUTHERON COUNTRY CHURCH BELOW AS WELL AS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN MY THURSDAY POST ARE ALL ON THE SAME ROAD WITHIN ABOUT 10 MILES OF EACH OTHER. IT’S A BIG FARMING COMMUNITY IN THIS AREA
Kelly headed off to Goderich to look at carpet samples & shelving units while I plugged away at getting the enlarged bedroom/storage area ready for new paint & wallpaper. Now the painting I can do but our good friend & neighbor Richard will do the wallpapering & finished trim around the room. Richard is one of those fellows who is a Jack of all Trades & Master of the whole darn works of them as well. A true craftsman this guy.
SPOTTED THIS WHAT I THINK MIGHT BE A DESOTO IN WARTBURG ONTARIO
NEW HOUSE EAST OF WARTBURG GOING UP HERE WILL BE BUILT FROM OLD BARN TIMBERS
I’LL HAVE TO DRIVE BY HERE AGAIN IN THE FALL TO SEE WHAT KIND OF HOUSE THESE FOLKS PUT UP OVER THE SUMMER
AND I BET THIS REFURBISHED OLD WINDMILL SECTION WILL BE A PART OF THE NEW HOUSE/BARN PROPERTY AS WELL
A NEWLY PLANTED FIELD WILL SOON BE BURSTING FORTH WITH ANOTHER SUMMERS CROP
PHEEBS & I JUST LOVE OUR SCENIC COUNTRY ROAD DRIVES
THIS IS A CROPPED VERSION OF AN ACCIDENTAL PHOTO THAT OCCURED THROUGH THE JEEP’S WINDSHIELD WHEN I WAS MANUEVERING MY CAMERA INTO POSTION TO TAKE A PHOTO OF PHEEBS THURSDAY
HERE’S A WINDMILL FOR YA MIKE:))
After what seemed like forever many of our flowering shrubs are finally beginning to flower. How nice to see buds bursting into bloom, leaves slowly unfolding their way out on the trees & grass growing with many folks already out with their mowers cutting it. Next month at this time our yard & surrounding region will be at it’s nicest before the heat of summer rolls in & begins drying things up. Noticed a few bugs in the air today & for awhile a couple Gnats drove me Bats.
Weather permitting, Pheebs & I will once again be out & about in the morning dusting along a few back country roads with coffee & muffin in hand looking for a few more interesting things to photograph. Again, thanks to all my readers for giving me a purpose each day:))
GROANER’S CORNER:(( Two friars are having trouble paying off the belfry, so they open a florist shop. Everyone wants to buy flowers from the men of God so business is quickly booming.
The florist across town sees a huge drop in sales and asks the two friars to close their shop,
but they refuse. A month later the florist begs the friars to close because he’s having trouble feeding his family. Again, they refuse, so the florist hires Hugh McTaggert. Hugh is the roughest, toughest thug in town and is hired to “persuade” the friars to close. Hugh asks the friars to close their florist shop. When they refuse, he threatens to beat the beans out of them and wreck their shop every day they remain open, so they close. This proves once again that Hugh and only Hugh can prevent florist friars.

Why do melons have fancy weddings? Because they cantaloupe.
Glad to see the chipmunk didn't get all your azaleas. Everyone's photos should be as good as your "accidental" photo.
ReplyDeleteGive me the standard brush and roller anyday, No muss , no fuss.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a 1956 Desoto to me.
I'd say painting is phooey at the best of times, with any kind of tools. Thank goodness you've got someone else to wallpaper, 'cause that's worse! You do have some big farmhouses down there though. And I have driven through Wartburg, though not for awhile.

ReplyDeleteSince I did all the painting at the house, it's another reason I'm not missing it :-) Still, nothing updates and cleans up a space like a new paint job - especially with bright white ceilings! The bees and azaleas are fabulous. Still like those little farmhouses the mostest. Wonderful accident :-))))
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like I should have packed the hounds and driven up to your place. I love painting houses inside and out ... although the last time I did mine I found out later that night I wasn't in as good of shape as before, moving up and down a ladder. :)
ReplyDeleteThere is a ceiling paint you can buy that goes onlight blue and turns white when it dries so you know where you've painted.
ReplyDeleteDennis Cave would rather be horse whipped than paint..I do most of the painting here..Ceilings??? I have to have a loooooong pole extension and roller..Painting overhead sucks pond water!
