ONE BIG FAMILY OF LIKE MINDED PEOPLE

NICE TO SEE A FEW SIGNS OF SPRING HAPPENING AGAIN

Rained most all night & we woke up to pine trees wrapped in a gentle fog.  Temps were above freezing but the dampness made it feel cold.  Early afternoon saw us up over 40F.  Heat wave.  First sun splash at 1:38 p.m. but not many more after that.

MOSS

Our mobile home here in Bayfield is nearly 35 years old & we’ve noticed since being back our Coleman electric furnace has become noticeably nosier & doesn’t seem to be putting out the heat well anymore.  Every  time the blower comes on we have to turn the TV volume up.  With those 2 reasons in mind plus the fact we here in Southern Ontario have the highest electric rates in all of Canada we are seriously considering having that old electric furnace replaced with a new gas one.  Had a fellow out this afternoon to have a look at our set up & get back to us with a price.  We always worry about that older Coleman furnace conking out when we are down south in the winter.

A ROBIN FLYING LOW ACROSS THE GROUND

Received an email from Barney author of ‘Old Fat Man Adventures yesterday saying, “I have stopped publishing and stopped the blog”.  I feel sad that he has stopped blogging.  I’ve always thought of my fellow Bloggers as one big family of like minded people even though I do not read all the blogs on my sidebar on a daily basis.  Some of we blogging folks are closer to some others than others but still there is a kind of kinship with everyone whether we read their posts or not.  Barney, thank you for your kind words in the email & we here at the Bayfield Bunch wish you all the best.  Take care my friend.  On the same note has anyone heard how Retired Rod is doing??

ON A WALK THIS AFTERNOON PHEEBS CHECKS THE TRAIL AHEAD

Ivan & Hailey have made it back to Alberta but not before taking some nice photos along the California’s coastline.  Ivan flies a drone & I’ve always liked his aerial photos.  In a couple weeks he will be back on Alberta’s fire lines wiling away his days in tall fire watch towers scanning forested horizons for tell tale signs of smoke.  And he even gets to go for a few on the job helicopter rides as well.  Nice.

HAPPY TO SEE SNOW MELTING OFF OUR PINE TREE TRAIL AGAIN

GROANER’S CORNER:(( An Afghanistan diplomat visiting the US for the first time was being wined and dined by the State Department.   The diplomat was not used to the salt in American foods (French fries,   cheeses,   salami,   anchovies, etc.) and was constantly sending his manservant Abdul to fetch him a glass of water.  Time and again, Abdul would scamper off and return with a glass of water,   but then came the time when he returned empty handed.  "Abdul, you son of an ugly camel,   where is my water?" demanded the diplomat. "A thousand pardons, O Illustrious One,"   stammered the wretched Abdul, "But a man is sitting on the well!"

  1. Rod is home after surgery. I got a text from him a few days ago saying he can't talk at all. That is pretty much all I know. I believe the reason he can communicate at all via text is the spell check gets it close enough to understand.

  2. That Ivan sure has a neat retirement gig. Sorta wish I has set one up before retiring, having something cool to do is fun. Perhaps he can fly that drone around his tower and get pics to show.

  3. I also got a text from Rod that simply said "hard speak". His son Chris posted on FB that he was home and doing great. Hopefully we'll hear something more before too long. I've noticed that some of the blogs I've been following for years are suddenly no longer posting. I wish that folks would at least make that one final post and say goodbye.

  4. The warmer weather is sure welcome, finally.
I have heard the same about Rod as well.
Too bad Barney discontinued his blog as I enjoyed it.

  6. Al, our heater/air conditioner unit inside our house is 17 years old. We've NEVER been able to hear our TV without turning it up when it runs! At one point we had doors between it and the living room, but I honestly don't even remember when they came off (probably when the kids were still at home). We're hoping we get one more year out of it. As you know, the desert heat is extremely hard on things.

  7. Lovely signs of spring - it will be summer before you know it! Thanks for letting us know about Barney's blog ending, we wish him well. We do get vested in others through their words and postings - certainly more than I ever would have thought :-D

  8. Yes, Spring is coming. I am so sorry about Barney. Such a fun guy. So many neat ways to say things, the saddest part is thinking we won't get to see any more pictures of Gavin. I am going to hope Barney changes his mind. Maybe because he misses all of us? Also hoping so much to hear good news about Rod. You are so right, about the big family. All connected through the RV lifestyle. I follow at least 20 regularly. Old Man and I have discussions about what is going on with each one. We CARE about these people. If that isn't family, what is? And very important parts are Al, Kelly, and Pheebes! Hope your Tuesday is a good one.

  9. I've noticed a decline in bloggers and it seems one by one, they are dwindling. I certainly don't blog everyday like I first did back in 2009..Al, the Bayfield Bunch was my first blog that responded to my rantings. I fondly remember how you convinced us to try Hickiwan Trails RV Park in Ajo, AZ..and what a great place that was for us!! I do agree that it is always nice to give one last blog to say farewell...and I'm not there yet..!!
