Thanks to everyone for their thoughtful concerns & hopefully my worries will all be for naught. I debated whether to write Thursdays paragraph about how I was feeling of late but I've always been straight forward with readers about that kind of thing on this blog & I'm not about to change that now. Besides, I'm not good at hiding feelings & emotions anyway. Well not here on my blog anyway……………….
Rained most of the night with some of it being heavy. All that rain left us with a cloudy Friday for the most part & aside from walking out to Kelly's car to carry in some butter tarts & one short walk with Pheebs I spent a big chunk of the day inside. Kelly had been out to the Mennonite Bakery south of town to pick up a small Thanksgiving turkey which she popped right into the oven soon as she got home & we had it for supper tonight with all the fine fixins. Well not the whole Turkey of course but Pheebs & I will have lots of turkey to eat over the week-end. Wait, what about Kelly?? No turkey for Kelly because she won't be here.......
AUTUMN REFLECTIONS
Due to illness Ricardo's parents flew back to Spain today so Kelly's heading to Guelph Saturday morning to look after little Miss Ella while Ricardo & Rebecca attend a wedding Saturday afternoon. She will stay over till Sunday & do a bit of visiting with other family members living in nearby Cambridge. Pheebs & I might be into some mighty fine cooking again. Peanut Butter Soufflé, soup a-la Peanut Butter, & Peanut Butter Cheerios with a nice visceral hot Carmel fudge sauce. Maybe fry us up a big tin of Spaghetti & toast too:))
THAT’S LITTLE MISS ELLA ON KELLY’S LAP LAST WEEK-END
I THINK PHEEBS IS A LITTLE JEALOUS OF ELLA BEING ON KELLY’S LAP GETTING ALL THE ATTENTION
For more fabulous photos from the Albuquerque balloon festival don’t miss Nina’s latest post entitled, ABS BALLOON FIESTA - FIRST IMPRESSIONS. She has some truly remarkable photos here.
A reader (Kayak lake) sent me this cartoon below. She saw it in a recent New Yorker magazine & with it she says, “Al’s two interests – UFOs and travel with Pheebs – in one image. Or we could say it’s Al’s doppelganger in outer space”.
IF I COULD FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET LIBBY OFF THE GROUND & INTO OUTER SPACE PHEEBS & I WOULD BE OFF LIKE A ROCKET EXPLORING THE GALAXY FOR SURE:))
Our gloomy skies began to clear late this afternoon & of course it’s always a spirit lifter to see those wonderful rays of sunshine beaming down through our surrounding pine trees. If skies remain clear I can feel a nice relaxing country photo tour coming up in the morning:))
BAYFIELD’S PIER
GROANER’S CORNER:(( The Parents who drugged us!!!
At my 50th high school reunion a friend asked me, 'Why didn't we have a drug problem when we were growing up?'
I replied that I had a drug problem when I was young:
I was drug to church on Sunday morning.
I was drug to church for weddings and funerals.
I was drug to family reunions and community socials no matter the weather.
I was drug by my ears when I was disrespectful to adults.
I was also drug to the woodshed when I disobeyed my parents, told a lie, brought home a bad report card, did not speak with respect, spoke ill of the teacher or the pastor, or if I didn't put forth my best effort in everything that was asked of me.
I was drug to the kitchen sink to have my mouth washed out with soap if I uttered a profanity.
I was drug out to pull weeds in mom's garden and flower beds.
I was drug to the homes of neighbours to help mow the yard, repair the clothesline, and if my mother had ever known that I took a single dime as a tip for this kindness, my dad would have drug me back to the woodshed.
Those drugs are still in my veins and they affect my behaviour in everything I do, say, or think. They are stronger than cocaine, crack, or heroin, and if today's children had this kind of drug problem, Canada would be a better place.
God bless the parents who drugged us.
The turkey diner sounds awesome and i can see some gourmet turkey and and peanut butter and honey sandwiches in your near future.

ReplyDeleteHang in there with the medical stuff... Remember this too shall pass... I lost my cook a couple of years ago when the wife passed, so I know lots of ways to make a peanut butter and Honey sandwich... LOL
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo's, just lovely!
ReplyDeleteThat groaners corner is so true. Now kids are almost never corrected or punished. Everything is "Good jod" even if they do nothing.
ReplyDeleteMy father went through prostrate cancer, so my thoughts are with you. Hopefully it's nothing and you can continue your winter plans without interruption, but I completely understand your funk. We'll be crossing all paws and fingers for you here. Thank you for the lovely shout out too :)
