IT’S NOT KELLY & I PEOPLE DROP IN TO MEET…..IT’S PHEEBS:))

DSC_0017

Nothing on our agenda today & that was nice.  I remember it was a week ago this morning we had to rush off to the Emergency Animal Clinic with Pheebs.  No scratching in the night again & her nose continues to improve.  We have not had to put the cone back over her head………It was 9:23 this morning while sitting at my computer I heard a couple short diesel air horn toots.  It was the WHEELING IT crew rolling by our house on Ghost Town Road heading out on their long journey North by Northwest to future unknown destinations & adventures.  Take care fellow friends & travelers.  All the best…………:))

OUR BACKYARD IS GREENING UP

I remember someone asking about the types of Cacti at North Ranch in my post a couple days ago but unfortunately I have no idea what any of them were with the exception of the pinky Beaver Tail Cacti.  I don’t remember seeing all those blooms last year while driving around their March garage sale so maybe things are earlier this year.

A nice surprise this afternoon when a red pick-up truck rolled into our driveway.  Long time blog readers & fellow RV’ers Sylvia & Dave Wheeler from St. Mary’s Ontario drove by & saw me outside whacking some weeds & stopped.  It is their first Snow Birding year on the road & they said it was because of our blog they came West.  And happy to say the folks are truly loving it here.  They’re currently camped in Wickenburg having already been to Borrego Springs & Quartzsite.  Like us, Sylvia & Dave much prefer the boondocking lifestyle. They came up & set a spell on the porch & were the first folks to try out our free Glider chairs we picked up at North Ranch Saturday.  Turns out we knew some of the same people in the St. Marys area.  Sylvia & Dave are retired dairy farm folks still living on their farm near Kirkton & Woodham Ontario.  Really nice people & we were glad they stopped in to say Hello.  Maybe Pheebs & I on one of our photo tours this summer will drop by their place in the country & return the Hello:))

THERE’S YAKKY DOODLE AL DOING ALL THE TALKING AGAIN

A comment question on Saturday’s post asked, ‘why don’t we stay south until all the ice & snow back home is melted.  Several reasons.  Our medical travel insurance runs out on the  18th of May.  Kelly has an important Doctor appointment May 2nd & as of April 19th we have been in the U.S. 6 months.  Ontario allows us to be in the States 7 months but the U.S. Government wants us out of the country after 6 months.  Least ways that’s the way I understand it.  When dealing with Governments & especially border crossings it is always best to play things by the book.  Any anomalies or quirky border personalities can easily bring ones cross border RV travelling days to a sudden end.

A PAIR OF FRISKY CACTUS WRENS IN A MESQUITE TREE THIS AFTERNOON

And a 2nd nice surprise this afternoon when a white pick-up truck pulled in & stopped at our gate.   Long time blog readers & fellow RV’ers Karen & Roger Mounger currently boondocking over near Vulture Peak dropped by to say Hello.  Having just recently sold their house in Albuquerque NM they are on the road now full time.  We sure got our free Glider chairs just in time to set on our front porch for company.  Again as always, nice folks to sit & chat with.  They began following our blog back when we used to Ranch sit for Jeannie & Ray down in McNeal Arizona a few years back.  They found our blog through HITCH ITCH.  Most of our blog referrals come from Hitch Itch.  Thanks for dropping by folks & we may very well see you again:))

POINTING OUT TO ROGER THE DISTANT WEAVER MOUNTAINS

Of course everyone knows the real reason folks drop around to see the Bayfield Bunch.  It’s not to see & say Hello to Kelly & I.  Everyone comes to see the most important & lovable member of our family……The Pheebs:))

Walking into my bedroom this later this afternoon I heard a scuffling sound in my bathroom.  I had left a screenless window open & a Curve Bill Thrasher had flown in.  He was a pretty scared little fellow.  I quietly closed my bedroom door & opened the open window even further.  Slowly edged into my bathroom so as not to stress Curvy Bill & slowly eased the curtain closed darkening the room.  He saw the increasingly bright spot in my bedroom & took off for the light flying unobstructed right back out my bedroom window.  I like when things have happy endings:))

Watched the second segment of "COSMOS -- A SPACETIME ODYSSEY" -- 'RIVERS OF LIFE' tonight.  How fitting I thought as I took a few photos of tonight’s full Moon & later sat in my chair typing my post watching the Moon rise higher into the night sky right outside my bedroom window.  After hitting the publish button Pheebs & I walked out into our little front yard Cactus Garden.  There we both stood quietly bathed in Moonlight.  It is especially at these times when I think of past & present family members who have made this whole RVing experience possible for us……………………

THIS IS THE LAST FULL MOON WE WILL SEE FROM OUR FRONT PORCH HERE IN CONGRESS AZ UNTIL NEXT NOVEMBER

GROANER’S CORNER:((  Just a few things to think about when you go to bed tonight…………….

- Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them?
- Why do people who know the least know it the loudest?
- If the funeral procession is at night, do folks drive with their headlights off?
- If a stealth bomber crashes in a forest, will it make a sound?
- If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
- When it rains, why don't sheep shrink?
- Should vegetarians eat animal crackers?
- If the cops arrest a mime, do they tell him he has the right to remain silent?
- When companies ship Styrofoam, what do they pack it in?
- If you're cross-eyed and have dyslexia, can you read all right?

  5. Someday we will get to meet the Pheebs as well...oh yes...You and Kelly too! Although this time we decided to head north rather than fight the winds on I-10 and after reading Dennis's blog for yesterday, I can see that so far, we made the right choice! Maybe we will catch you next year, and maybe, just maybe, someday you will come to Oregon!

  8. Those new chairs are getting a workout!
Glad I came by before you were all booked up. The view from your porch is worth the drive.

I looked at the Moon, yet did not think to take a pic.

  9. Hello Al - as always really enjoy reading your blog and viewing the pictures you take. Just wondering if you use any wide angle lenses for your landscape photos? If so, do You have any recommendations?

    Thanks,
    Tom
