A FEW SIGNS OF AN EARLY AUTUMN ARE BEGINNING TO APPEAR
Woke up to the sounds of a steady rain on the roof this morning. A slight mist hung lazily on still air leaving our tall Pine trees drooping with moisture. No dusty forest trail under our feet this morning & our old wooden rain barrel was full & overflowing.

Had myself an appointment this afternoon with the Surgeon fella who removed a suspicious Melanoma looking spot on my chest nearly a month ago. Lab results came back saying the growth was benign, meaning it was not cancerous. Another bullet dodged this summer with one more to go. My PSA (prostate) level numbers were up a bit on my last two tests with the second test having a lower number than the first…..which is good. Dr. Bukala, my Urologist & kidney stone guy want’s to see me in early September after I have one more PSA test. If I have a good number, we are cleared for take-off to the Southwest in October:))
Peter over at AMERICAN TRAVELER had a post this morning on his thoughts about food. The good stuff & the bad stuff. And, what is it doing to us? Well, that got me to thinking about something I have often thought about over the years. What if we didn't have to eat:))
---
Long time readers know I am not a 'foody' person so it's only natural for me to ponder the question of, 'what would life be like if we didn't have to keep replenishing ourselves on a daily basis with food'. Well, I see a lot of positives here & I think if we 'eaters' could re-wire our bodies some day to function without food or water, that would be a good thing.
---
The bulk of food we take in has to basically be eliminated, so how nice would it be to get rid of those body waste elimination procedures for starters. Think of it, no more toilets or icky public washrooms. No more need to interrupt our travels with a couple dozen washroom breaks between points A & B. No more doing that dance in your pants trying to hold things off before reaching a washroom. How about a solid night's sleep without all those nocturnal trips to you know where. Maybe we could even keep our house interiors smelling a little fresher as well…..not to mention car interiors.
No more spending big money at fancy waaaaaay over priced restaurants. McDonald's, KFC & Burger King would just be old world ancient history. No more food related diseases. Think how healthy we could be. Fat talk & fat jokes would be gone forever. Clothes manufacturers would only make 'one size fit's all'. No more boring cooking shows on television. How great is that. And, think about how much time could be saved if we humans weren't always talking or complaining about food . Recipe's would be non existent. And, no more foody blogs. And how about being free from all those weight loss commercials & diet pills. No need to go out & buy fancy China & silverware anymore. The list & possibilities are endless.
---
No food would mean no need for teeth. Now, think of the benefits here. No more excruciating tooth aches, fillings or root canals & above all all, no more way over the top unnecessary horrendous dentist bills. No more big bellies or big butts. The word diet could at last be dropped from the dictionary. Think of all the time we would have on our hands if we weren't eating, thinking of eating, preparing, or disposing of food .
---
Well, in reality, we all know there's not much chance of re-evolving our bodies any time soon & to kick start the evolution process we would have to all cut down & eventually stop eating and we know that isn't going to happen. I like my peanut butter!! But, if we do manage to successfully re-wire ourselves someday, then I think we should next turn our attention to our legs. Will they really be necessary if we can solve this gravitational thing at some point. Yep, I have some thoughts about all that too. But, enough for today. Figure a lot of folks have already X'd me out & headed for the refrigerator...................:))

Now, if you are not afraid of heights, I suggest you turn up your volume, fasten your seat belt & take this marvellous 5 minute FLIGHT OVER AMERICA. (be sure to go to ‘FULL SCREEN)
GROANER'S CORNER:(( Little Johnny and his family lived in the country, and as a result seldom had guests. He was eager to help his mother after his father appeared with two dinner guests from the office.
When the dinner was nearly over, Little Johnny went to the kitchen and proudly carried in the first piece of apple pie, giving it to his father who passed it to a guest. Little Johnny came in with a second piece of pie and gave it to his father, who again gave it to a guest.
This was too much for Little Johnny, who said, "It's no use, Dad. The pieces are all the same size."

Too funny. Thoroughly enjoyed the post and the flight.
ReplyDeleteHow funny, Al! I had a hard time reading this to John since I was laughing so hard. He to has a high elevated PSA and must see Dr. when we return to Indiana in a month. Golden years.????? nahh
ReplyDeleteI got airsick!
ReplyDeleteYa, Hey now if we didn't eat and we didn't sleep we could sure save some money and time, couldn't we?
ReplyDeleteWell I'm going to bed on that one!! I am hungry tho! :-)
What would RVers do when they met up with friends if they couldn't eat? And with no teeth it would be hard to understand the words being spoken so just talking wouldn't be much fun either. And the worst thing is, there would be no more entertaining black tank stories!!
ReplyDeletevery entertaining thoughts in your head tonight, Al!..maybe you need some sustinance?
ReplyDeleteFlight Over America was great! thanx!!!
