ROBIN TAKES A COOLING DIP IN OUR BIRDBATH

Had an email from JIMBO a couple days ago about the memories my Canyon De Chelly (pronounced ‘De Shay’) photos brought back for him. He was there in October & hiked down to the Whitehouse Ruins. Here is my post & photos the day Kelly & I hiked to those same ruins as well.  HIKING THE WHITEHOUSE RUINS TRAIL   And, be sure to check out Groaner's Corner while you are there. It's a real tongue twistin tooty:))

A PURPLE MARTIN HOUSE

No point in me going on about the days activities because basically there weren't any, with the exception of driving to Mitchell and visiting with my Uncle Harry. He's doing fine. Kelly has a few day's off. Humidity has backed off with a few showers rolling through the area. Pretty exciting stuff so far eh.

<<< THINK THIS MIGHT BE A NORTHERN CRESCENT BUTTERFLY IN OUR FRONT YARD

Kelly phoned our travel insurance company (Sanderson) this afternoon to get some kind of idea what the medical insurance is going to be for me this coming winter. They already have had to pay a couple Kidney Stone claims for me so we expected to really get clobbered with a high quote this year. Yes, my rate has jumped a couple hundred dollars but here's the kicker. In order to be covered for any kind of kidney stone problem I would have to remain problem free in Canada for 6 months beginning on the date of my kidney stone procedure this past May 28th. That takes us to November 28th. So, they are saying, in order for me to be covered for kidney stone problems we cannot leave Canada until November 28th. Well, you can bet your dammed best pair of green & purple striped socks that is not going to happen!!!!! No way Jose, not gonna do it.  If it means no kidney stone insurance then that is just the way it will have to be. At this age & stage of the game I am not going to waste 6 valuable weeks just sitting on my can in the house waiting to head south because of some silly insurance policy clause. And, especially not in the miserable month of November. Did that last year!!

Got a tip on a garage nearby that may be able to do the tailpipes on our Motorhome so Pheebs & will head over there with the rig in the morning & let the fellas have a look. We still have a bedroom slide we think needs adjusting too, but one thing at a time. Expensive summer again:((

Is it just me or has television stooped to yet another all time low.  Tell me it isn’t so.  Saw something the other night called ‘Swamp People’.  Beam me up Scotty, I want off the Planet!!

DAPPLED SUNLIGHT IN A SWAMP

GROANER'S CORNER:(( Just a bit of trivia tonight............ -'Stewardesses' is the longest word typed with only the left hand
-And 'lollipop' is the longest word typed with your right hand.
-No word in the English language rhymes with month, orange, silver, or purple.  (unless of course, some good old Canadian Maple Surple…………..for your pancakes:))
-'Dreamt' is the only English word that ends in the letters 'mt'.
-The sentence: 'The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog' uses every letter of the alphabet.
-The words 'racecar,' 'kayak' and 'level' are the same whether they are read left to right or right to left.
-There are only four words in the English language which end in 'dous': tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous
-TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.
-The average person's left hand does 56% of the typing.
There, I bet everybody is gonna sleep better tonight:))

  1. I totally agree with you on the insurance I would take my chances for sure These insurance companies have some wild rules and people think they are at the mercy of But not always is that so Each of us have a choice

  2. Can't you just apply for travel insurance once November comes around no matter where you are...? Just call up and ask for a policy like you are right next door..... How would they know, you will mail the check, or better yet give them a credit card number.....

  3. I can't decide if I'd go without the insurance or not. I think I'm really gun shy after the year we've had with Jim. Even with insurance we've still had to pay out thousands. But I still totally understand where you're coming from about not wanting to stay up north any longer than you absolutely have to.

  4. Since you know you have had problems with the stones, you might be able to get yourCanadian Doctor to give you any needed perscription in advance. Some pain meds .?

I would also discuss what the dangers of just tuffing it out might be. I don't know if an untreated stone can damage you or not. I know they can bevery painful.

    Any special preventitive diet restrictions?

  5. we took the chance last year with Rick's unstable BP...started his bp meds early dec..and we left end of Dec...our Dr provided us with 6 mos of all our meds...which was decent of him..and the pharmacy filled them all for us...which was very decent of them...they held the future ones and processed them monthly thru our insurance for us...glad we can comment again...

  6. Oh how nice to be able to leave a comment!
Potential medical conditions can be a problem with your insurance, but how will you feel if you stay home until November and have no problems at all. My philosophy is to take the good while you can grab it and do what you love doing. It's something each person has to answer for him or herself though.

  7. It sure seems that the medical companies are holding all the cards when it comes to giving you the proper insurance...now does this mean that if something happens between when you leave and the six months are up you wouldn't be covered?..or is it you wouldn't be covered at all if you left before the six months were up?

  8. There are several shows coming out of Louisiana that just make me so proud to live here. All I can say is that they are hard up for something to put on TV.

  9. I would take the risk and go for it...if you wait until the end of November, you'll be snowed in!!

  10. So does the insurance company call you daily to make sure your in Canada? Just hope for now more stones.

    That's why I don't own a TV.

  11. I'd take the chance especially in November. I agree about the TV, it's getting hard to find something to us.

  12. Um ya. No TV here. We don't miss it. Could have watched Spain beat Italy, but I survived without that excitement.
For some further "trivia", words like "Kayak, level, racecar", and the name "Hanah" are all "palindromes".
    In case anyone asks.

NOW you can sleep better tonight.

  14. Your Hollyhock picture is stunning. I'm a long time daily reader and love your writing, stories and photographs. Glad you have comments again.

  15. Good luck with heading south , but the end of November is too late, good luck and go for it.

  16. Hey Al, have you checked with other Insuring Companies? I think you might only have to show 90 days of stability. I use Royal Bank, and that is all they require for my heart condition.

  17. Swamp People, Ice Truckers, Logger whatever--garbage shows, absolute garbage. We don't have TV here at home but tried to watch a little when we took the road trip and stayed in a motel--gave up and went back to reading!

  18. Hope you can get the insurance garbage figured out. Either that or run into a hospital in AZ if you have a problem, start speaking spanish, and pretend you are some grizzled ole illegal alien and needs free healthcare.... they will treat ya then!

(I would say LOL , but it really isn't funny because it's true!)

  19. We aren't leaving this year until xmas or after....life sometimes gets in the way..

  20. Make an appointment with your kidney doc just prior to leaving to make sure all is OK.

Here in Central Oregon I am not able to get any TV. I have been without it for almost two months and don't miss it a bit.
