MY DOCTOR WAS A BIT MUDDLED THIS MORNING

DSC_0002
FARMERS HAVE BEEN PUTTING IN LONG HOURS GETTING THEIR CROPS HARVESTED THIS WEEK
Always nice if one can enjoy some early morning scenery if one is on the way to a Hospital. Checked into the Emergency department early & luckily they took me right in. Not even 5 minutes in the outer waiting room. Another 10 minutes in an examination room with a nurse preparing the Doctor's tools of the trade & it was time to get the show on the road. Shirt off & climb up onto the bed, sunny side up.  The Doctor comes into the room, has me point out the spot to be removed, positions the overhead light closer & begins arranging some towels around the surgical area. Having been through this once before I knew it would be the needle injecting the freezing that would be the yukky part. The Doctor affirms that & proceeds to inject about a half dozen short burning stings. I look at the clock on the wall overhead & it is 9:26 a.m.

Now it's the slice & dice part as the attending Nurse suggests to the surgeon Doctor which way to place the cut. That was a bit disconcerting listening to that little conversation. Before everything was over I was definitely convinced the Nurse in the room was doing all she could to help this aging Doctor. The surgical removal of the small growth only took maybe 3 or 4 minutes but the stitching up of the incision is where the length of time & confusion became very apparent. I couldn't help but feel a little sorry for this Doctor because it was obvious he was having difficulty & seemed a bit muddled about the tool he was using.  The Nurse was very patient with him, verbally helping him along, reminding him of this & explaining that. I felt fortunate she was there in the room.

I ENTER……..’THE ROOM’

MEDICAL TOOLS ARE LAID OUT AS A WALL CLOCK TICKS DOWN THE TIME
While the Doctor stitched me up he said he would see me in one month at the Clinic. Wasn't until after that I thought to myself, why do I have to go to a Clinic? Anyway, he finally finished with the stitching & left the room without any further words. Nurse came in & cleaned the blood off me & the bed & that was it. She booked an appointment for next Friday to have a Nurse take the stitches out & a secondary appointment for the Clinic. I guess the clinic is where I will find out if the lesion removed today is going to be good news or bad news. By the way, I see Dr. Bukala this coming Tuesday to discuss the results of the Kidney Stone procedure last month. Kelly will be going along to make sure I get things straight.  Not unusual for me to get a little muddled myself at times……………

IT’S ALL OVER, THE DEED IS DONE…..NOW LET ME OUT OF HERE!!!!
Felt a little wonky & weak kneed when I walked out of the hospital so thought I'd slip downtown Goderich & treat myself to a bacon & egg breakfast for a change. Last time I had bacon & eggs was probably last winter sometime at a Cracker Barrel in the States while traveling. Let's just say, it is not likely I will ever return to that particular Goderich restaurant again. I wished Canadians could build a great bacon & egg breakfast like the Americans do!!

Filled the Jeep with gas & headed off into the countryside. I had been hoping for big blue skies with fluffy white cotton ball clouds, but no such luck. The heavy humidity in the air gave the sky a steely light gray look. It was not a great day for photography. However, I had a destination in mind. Kelly had spotted another rural house & property for sale so figured I would country road myself up that way & have a look. It was located on the Belfast road southwest of Wingham Ontario.  As I approached from the west I could see right away the house & property were not suitable. Drove by slow, turned around, drove by again & then put the hammer down & headed for home. No A/C in the Jeep so I didn't dilly dally around because I knew how comfortable it would be when I got back to our central air conditioning:))

Felt kinda goopy for the rest of the afternoon & spent my time mostly reclinerized & staying cool.  I am surprised tonight there has been no pain all day from this morning’s procedure.  Thought for sure I would have been in for some ‘ouchies’ when the freezing came out.  Just goes to show ya…………..what the heck do I know about anything eh:))

  1. Having a nurse direct a doctor through an outpatient surgery is not very reassuring. :(

  2. Let's hope he's not doing the kidney stone, eh?? :)

  3. Glad you're feeling all right. My sitemeter hasn't worked beyond the first week or two and that was nearly a couple of years ago...no response from them either...so I just ignore it. Pffft! Give Kelly a hug for me. Dad is at "that" door (hospice is with him daily now). I just haven't felt like writing, or if I do, nothing seems tocome out right, so I'll just get back to it when I feel like it...meanwhile, I'm still reading everyone else's blogs.

P.S.- Maybe I should just be lazy and copy and paste this onto my own blog to let others know we're still alive and kicking. ;-)

  4. Just remembered...a few years back I had a lump removed from the back of my neck where it meets my right shoulder. The doctor (someone who was supposed to be a "specialist" and I had not been to before...or since) promised that there would be no scar...there is a scar...and the lump came back....anyway while he was doing the procedure, he kept yelling at the nurse that he couldn't see very well and that the lighting was awful (it wasn't)...certainly not very reassuring, especially since I was scared half to death about that darn lump in the first place. What a jerk! Your doctor didn't sound much better...but at least he didn't keep repeating that you had the most beautiful skin he'd ever seen (mutilated) and that I looked just like his mother. Yuk! What a creepy memory. Thought that might make you laugh...I laugh about it now. :-D

  5. Yikes, I hope the old doc doesn't do any type of major surgery.

The golden wheat field photos are just beautiful.

  8. Just a few words you never want to hear from your doctor: oops, and damit. Especially during surgery.

  12. Love your new word -- reclinerized. Now I know what to call what I do a lot of! Your Groaner's Corner is far too accurate, dammit. Time for the doctor to retire, it seems!
