HAD MYSELF A BUSY CLEANING DAY AGAIN
When I woke up this morning I was aware I was still in clean-up mode from Thursday so without further ado after my morning shake I slipped outside, hooked up the water, & had me a go at the Jeep. The directions on a jug of something we picked up in Quartzsite this year said you can use it as a waterless wash but that is a concept I can’t get my head around so I washed the Jeep first & then went over part of it with….the ‘Solution’. I don’t care what a product claims to do, I was not about to take a cloth & rub a liquid into or onto a shiny smooth & painted metal surface without first washing off the abrasive sand & grit. Figured we have enough desert pin striping on the Jeep without adding a lot of new swirls & twirls.
I LOVE MY LITTLE JEEPY JEEPERS:))
The washing went fine but as always here with our overly chlorinated water, the Jeep ended up with it’s usual multiple white water spots. Using a chamois only pulls those spots into streaks so figured this was a good time to try…..the ‘Solution’. Yes, that is what it is really called. (I will remember to take a pic of the bottle tomorrow)
Well, it did take out those water spots alright but I’ll have to use it a few more times before I am convinced it is an overall miracle product like some claim. Reminds me a lot of Armor-All. Must say the Jeep is looking very spiffy now & it’s like we have a new vehicle. Maybe I just better keep it off the gravel roads this summer….ya right!!
RIGHT SIDE OF THE RIG IS WASHED & THE LEFT SIDE ISN’T
No sooner had I finished the Jeep when I swung around & tackled the front end of the Motorhome. Boy, was that a mess with all the bugs & road grime from the past 5 months on there. Took a lot of water, bug & tar remover, a stiff brush, a brillo type pad & a whole lot of elbow grease to get that windshield & front end all cleaned up again. And much of that work has to be done from atop a tall ladder to reach high up the windshield & front roof line. It was well into early afternoon before I was able to finally step back & breathe a heavy sigh of relief knowing the Motorhome’s front end was finally done.
SURPRISING WHAT JUST A LITTLE SOAP & WATER MIXED WITH SOME ELBOW GREASE CAN DO…LEFT SIDE DIRTY & RIGHT SIDE CLEAN
Sensing I still had some energy units left I then slipped inside the rig & tackled the driving & passenger compartment. Boy oh boy, was that ever a mess as I scrubbed & scrubbed the dash, windows, coffee holders, etc. And to think, this is only the start of the annual big Motorhome clean-up. When I thought about it I had to come in the house, stretch out in my recliner, & think about it some more…zzzzzzzzzz.
DON’T KNOW IF THIS IS MY BED OR PHEEBS BED BUT US TWO OLD DOGS SLEEP HERE EVERY NIGHT
And, speaking of Motorhomes. After reading RETIRED ROD'S post yesterday about all the rules & regulations he will be facing in his new winter place in Mesa Arizona next season I realize how lucky we are to be able to park our rig right on our own property not only here in Bayfield but in Congress Arizona as well. Can’t imagine not being allowed to have our Motorhome at our own place.
MIKE, ABIGAIL, KAYLA & PHEEBS
A couple of years after moving into our present home here at 5 Seasons Estates we decided it was time to put an entirely new roof on our place. One morning after a particularly bad winter storm we met a fellow out front who had driven into the Park to help with the storm damage clean-up. Some downed trees & many tree limbs. His name was Mike O’Brien & over the next few months we became friends with Mike & got to know him. One day I asked Mike if he knew anyone who could put a new roof on our house. His answer was quick……“I can”. With those words began a project that lasted for the next couple of years. Not only did Mike single handedly build us a brand new roof but he built us the lovely sun room we now have, added a deck to join the sun room & front porch, repaired walls where needed & completely sided our whole house with vinyl siding. He did all the electric, plumbing where needed & just about anything else you could think of. A very, very, handy fellow. Mike doesn’t live in the immediate area any more but has always kept in touch. Today, Mike dropped in to say hello with his daughter Kayla & newest member of the family, 6 month old Abigail. What a little sweetie pie she is & Pheebs thought so to.
A LITTLE PHEEBER SMOOCH FOR ABIGAIL
NOT ONLY IS PHEEBS A ‘COW SMOOCHING DOG’ BUT SHE IS A BABY SMOOCHING ONE TOO
Kelly & Pheebs were out running some errands this morning & came home with some take out Tai food from the new ‘Our Tai Restaurant Of Huron restaurant in Bayfield. As readers know, I am not a very adventurous food person & anything from another country kind of leaves me with the shivers. Anything hauled out of the ocean gives me double shivers. I was not too optimistic about whatever it was she had in the brown paper bag. Would it be fish heads with empty gazing eye sockets? Well, I was pleasantly surprised as I cautiously ate my Mussaman Curry Chicken & Springer Rolls. Anytime someone can add flavor to otherwise boring tasteless rice, I am interested. The Thai food tasted just great.
Below is a photo of a 3 foot section of tail pipe off the Motorhome. It was our last night on the road & we had just stopped in Lansing Michigan for the night. Upon walking around the rig doing a circle check after another long day I noticed this section of tail pipe on the driver’s side hanging down just a few inches from the pavement. With a couple twists & a short tug it came right off in my hands. How lucky we were this pipe had not come off on it’s own which I suspect it would have the next day. At 65 mph that pipe could easily have punctured the rubber black tank above it & ricocheted straight back into the Jeep’s front tire, radiator, windshield, or wherever. Could have been a very nasty incident indeed if it had continued through the air striking following traffic. It had broken or rusted out at the clamp under the Motorhome so we didn’t know of the potential danger until I saw the pipe hanging down. Close call for sure!! Checked the tail pipe on the other side & it is rusty as well, but not loose. We will definitely get that section of pipe replaced this summer as well.
THIS CHUNK OF STEEL PIPE COULD HAVE CAUSED A LOT OF DAMAGE HAD IT FALLEN OFF ON THE INTERSTATE
It was one month ago this morning while having breakfast with Peter from AMERICAN TRAVELER near Vulture Peak Arizona that we got the cell phone call we had been patiently waiting for. It was our Real Estate agent up in Prescott phoning to tell us our Congress house purchase was a done deal. Already it seems like so very, very, long ago.
GROANER’S CORNER:(( One morning a man came into the church on crutches.
He stopped in front of the holy water, put some on both legs, and then threw away his crutches.
An alter boy witnessed the scene and then ran into the rectory to tell the priest what he'd just seen.
"Son, you've just witnessed a miracle," the priest said.
"Tell me where is this man now?"
"Flat on his arse over by the holy water," said the boy.

LOVE LOVED THOSE PICS OF THE PHEEBS WITH THE BABY..! I started on the GMC today...the Hiker will be tackled soon, but first the roof needs scrubbing...Because of my sore feet, that might be a Dennis project this year...
ReplyDeleteAbigail and Pheebs seem quite happy with each other. Very cute pictures.
ReplyDeleteYour tailpipe story makes me want to go out in the dark and check ours.
Sure wish I had somewhere to give Winnona and Ruby a good scrub. I hate the timed washes, you can never do a good job and I can't find a park that doesn't have that as a no-no in their rules. Don't know what I'm going to do about this. Guess I'll have to skip looking at the pictures of your shiney jeep and coach.
Cutest baby - Pheebs photos ever! Jeepers look brand new! You must have a lot of elbow grease - lots more than I do!
ReplyDeleteThat wash job on the motorhome would be a hundred dollars for sure if you hired it done......
ReplyDeleteAnd on that city lot that we purchased in Mesa, there simply isn't room to park a motorhome. I'm sure we could have bought a bigger lot, but that would cost a lot more and we are kind a cheap that way..... LOL
I got up, had some coffee, had some more coffee, had breakfast, had a pleasant visit with friends, and had a nap. Now that I've read this, I'll have an early bedtime.
ReplyDeletePheebs may have been saying the baby smelled like a cow. Babies do that sometimes.
Cutest dog/baby pictures ever. That Pheebs, she is something else.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that's your jeep? I could have sworn it was a dusty brown color...
Pheebs is mine, I'll take her off your hands for you.
ReplyDelete.love that dog!If our fiver hadn't burned, I'd buy some of that Solutions stuff, nice job on Jeepers!
Jeep and motorhome look great. That's a lot of scrubbing.
ReplyDeleteCan't blame Pheebs for wanting to give that little cutie a kiss.
jeep looks brand new!..better get some mud on those tires soon or the neighbors are going to start thinking you have turned into a 'mall crawler'!..that 'solutions' stuff seems to work!!.
ReplyDeletePheebs and Abigail?..so darn cute!!!
That Abigail is such a cutie no wonder Pheebs wanted some smooches. Way too much work done today.
ReplyDeleteAwww the little baby smoocher! How cute!
ReplyDeleteI think tomorrow is our motorhome clean up and wash and scrub day too...

The look on that baby's face is so sweet!!! Priceless. Pheebs kissing the baby is a Kodak moment for sure. If you decide you like the Solution, try Amaze made by the same people. It does a great job of removing Black Streaks, Bugs, Paint Oxidation, Carpet and Upholstery stains. Nope, I don't sell it, but we have sure used a lot of it over the years, with excellent results.
ReplyDeleteNice to get the vehicles cleaned up, and shinny, ready for another trip. Some nice baby pictures with curious Pheebs.
ReplyDeleteThe Pheebs/baby pics are just so adorable - love seeing her reaction of the doggy kisses thru her eyes - what a great blog today!

ReplyDeleteLoved the baby/Pheebs photos! The jeep is looking mighty spiffy! Our's is a mess, had to take it to town the other day and it was raining.
ReplyDeletePheebs reminds me of our last dog. A Blue Heeler/Border Collie mix. She LOVED licking. We nic-named her "Licky"...being allowed to lick your arm, leg or feet made her the happiest. Some family members were not keen on that! I figured one could always wash up later!! Heehee...

You cannot go wrong with a baby and dog photo that is for sure.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I would enjoy a post about cleaning a Jeep so much, but I did. I'm a happy Jeep owner myself. This looks like such a fun blog. Thanks for following mine, I will sign up to follow you guys on your adventures as well. Right now!
ReplyDeleteAww the Pheebs is so sweet to kiss the baby. Your jeep looks so clean. My poor 2010 subaru has only looked that clean like twice..
ReplyDeleteThat Pheebs is such a sweetheart. Doesn't matter if it is cows or people, he just loves them all.
