KELLY & THE MOTORMOUSE ENJOY A MORNING SUNRISE
The morning started out quiet enough but things soon got busy. I was out shortly after 7 & had a fire going. Raked up some piles of brush the last couple days & wanted to get them burnt up. It was a beautifully quiet morning with Cactus Wrens & Mourning Doves in the trees. Maybe some Curve Bill Thrashers & House Finches as well. Definitely some distant Coyotes.
The Septic Tank guys rolled in around 9 & got right to work locating the concrete tank in the back yard. Turns out there is already a pipe in for an RV dump. Bonus. Septic tank is constructed with two sections. The whole tank itself is in good shape but a pipe in the second tank is bent & needs to be replaced. A few tree roots were present but not serious. All that will be repaired on Monday.
THE TANK IS LOCATED BY TOM THE SEPTIC TANK BOSS
PROBLEM IS WITH THAT BENT WHITE VERTICAL PIPE IN THE SECOND TANK & ALSO THE HORIZONTAL ONE…BOTH WILL BE REPLACED MONDAY…SCUBA SUITS MAY BE REQUIRED:))
The pumper truck itself arrived about 11:15 so I quickly ran around & closed all the house windows & made a bee line for the rig slamming the door behind me. We quickly put wet towels over our heads & held our breath for the next 40 minutes. I actually turned a darker shade of blue than Kelly did.
Earlier, when Tom the septic tank Boss & another fellow were here working on the tank excavation we had another fellow show up who was recommended to us by a neighbor regarding the stuccoing of the house exterior. Been in the business for a long time & his nickname was Doby as in Adobe. Nice fellow & we took a liking to him right off. He knew Tom the Septic Tank Boss guy & after listening to them talking back & forth we felt confident we had a couple trustworthy fellows here.
DISCUSSING THE UPCOMING ADOBE JOB WITH DOBY
As we walked through the house Doby was also able to give us a lot of good info & advice about future repairs & renovations, etc. We discussed the Stucco job & were happy to learn all the work is done by hand. He measured up the house & gave us a quote. Because we do not have final clear title to the house just yet Kelly advised me to keep our final decision about if & when the Stucco job will be done. So, for the time being….my fingers are sealed……:((
DOBY WORKS OUT A QUOTE…SEE YA SOON:))
Because of all the morning’s activities we had to reschedule our Title Signature signing in Wickenburg. Because little Cora is not improving we decided to take her into the Vet again this afternoon for blood work & get that Signature thing done as well.
BEANS & I WAIT IN THE JEEP WHILE KELLY RUNS INTO THE BANK
We loaded up the little Mouse & hit the road for Wickenburg shortly after 1. First stop was Bank Of America followed by a place to send off ‘another’ fax regarding the house sale. From there it was downtown Wickenburg to the Pioneer Title company whereupon we had to sign another 3 or 4 thousand pieces of paper. We brought Motor in with us & she snoozed in a chair beside me in the boardroom as we did all that penmanship. Next step is for Stewart Lender Services to issue us a free & clear title at which time monies are transferred between banks & that should be it….finally!!
KELLY POINTS OUT SOMETHING ON ONE OF THE MANY FORMS TO BE SIGNED
Three o’clock found us at the Vet’s again. Motor was once more checked over & blood was drawn for testing. She handled everything well & the scale showed she had lost half a pound from a couple days ago. She has always been a little trooper & despite not eating for 3 days she seems to be holding her own & we were very heartened when we got home that she actually ate a couple good chunks of Tuna. The Vet said she will call us in the morning with Motor’s blood test results. Thursday I thought we were losing her, but today I am cautiously optimistic she just might be improving a wee bit.
CORA HANDLED THIS BLOOD WORK LIKE A LITTLE TROOPER
OUR LITTLE MOUSE SHOWS OFF HER BANDAGED LEG
Tonight we had some visitors. Bev & Jim had invited us out along with Laurie & Odel to Nichols nearby restaurant. We had declined knowing the busy day we were facing. On their way home from Nichols they decided to pop in & say Hello. It was good timing because we were able to give them a tour of our recently exposed septic tank in the back yard. It’s not everybody who gets a grand tour like that you know. Light was fading fast so it was a semi-dark house tour for the gang. We don’t have the electricity hooked up yet but the folks were still able to get the gist of the house. Nice of them to drop around:))
PHEEBE MEETS TOM’S DOG, MIKE…OH BOY, ANOTHER NEW PAL:))
Now, here’s something I didn’t know. Sent in by Red over in that there California place….."congrats on your new place, now that you are a real property owning southwest cowboy ya gotta learn how to put your hat down when you take it off. Caboys seldom do that, but real caboys set them on the crown so as to not mess up the brim. Just thought i would pass that along since you are now an official rootin tootin caboy.”

Is there a McDonald's around? Maybe Motormouse misses those burritos you guys used to get back in Ontario.
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for the little bean. :)
And man, you guys are on it! Guess you don't have a lot of time before you have to go back, but that would be about a month's work for me there you just did in one day. :)
Sounds like you two are going to hit the ground running as soon as all the papers are signed, sealed, delivered - or whatever the heck it is they do! The stucco will make the place look real nice.
ReplyDeleteHugs to Motormouse and keeping my toes and fingers crossed for her.
Sure am glad to hear that Motor was a little better. I like that stucco look.
ReplyDeleteI've always like the adobe style houses and have seen a lot of them this week in New Mexico.
ReplyDeleteI hope little Cora is feeling better.
another busy day for you all!..love the stucco colour..good choice..
ReplyDeletenice to hear that the septic tank is working and has an RV hookup!..that will be convenient for all the company you are going to be having!!
That adobe job by Doby should look good. Septic is a nasty job, but nice to know you have an RV hookup. Hope the little Motor keeps eating and feeling better.
ReplyDeleteBTW, don't forget there's Good pizza, and more, at the Congress PO Cafe. (A plug for my family.)
You aren't wasting any time getting things done, and everything is moving along.
ReplyDeleteLike the color of the stucco, it looks right for Arizona. So glad to hear little Cora is doing a bit better, was thinking about her today.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear Motor may be on the mend. It is so interesting to read your blog. I would recommend you look up the rules of how to treat your cowboy hat. Funny enough I came across them this week and I think they were on the Chris Ledoux website. He was a real cowboy and a wonderful singer who left us too soon. Best of good wishes with your new home, it sure sounds like it was meant to be. Get well soon to precious little Motormouse. I read your blog daily.

Yep, Al, when I married Mike almost 18 years ago I was quickly educated regarding the correct way to lay down a hat and it's not on the brim!
ReplyDeleteAnd never put your hat on a bed!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun busy days you are having!
You guys are so blessed! A home in Arizona and an acre to boot. The work will probably be ongoing, but what fun! Sure hope Cora feels better this morning.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried feeding your dog cooked rice with some very fine pieces of chicken in it. I have a 15yr. old dog and it seems to work for him when he is under the weather. Love your place and the pictures.
ReplyDeleteLooks like things are moving along nicely ~ Hope Motormouse is feeling better really soon!!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun
Donna
The Bayfield/Congress Bunch looks like they are going to be spending some time in Home Depot soon...Love the color of the adobe...Hope Cora is feeling better....
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new "digs". Looks like a great find! Glad to hear that Cora is feeling better. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
ReplyDeleteJust stopping in....and wow...you found a place in Arizona!! Congrats to both of you. Did..or are you selling your home in Canada? Sorry to hear motormouse is under the weather, but feeling better now. Take care you guys! ~Tricia
ReplyDeletePaws are crossed over here in Apache Jct for Corra..... Hope she pops on thru.... Rod & Loyce
ReplyDeleteThat stucco looks great, going to really spruce up the place!
ReplyDeleteHope Cora doing better :)
Is that a septic tank or a double holding tank? Are there field lines?
ReplyDeleteWill you convert it to an air injected methane machine with a 5KW genset powering your house, so you will feel off the grid? I saw that on some guys blog, he said it was easy and if you run low on gas all you have to do is invite some friends over for dinner.
I saw my dog go through the same thing 2 years ago. He lasted another year, but the quality of life for him was not worth it.
I know this sounds bad, but it is my view on how I will handle another dog in the future.
Stuco makes a great looking and long lasting exterior. Make sure there is no dirt close to it, as carpenter ants and termites love the wood behind it. I think it is a good choice.
We have had 85 degrees for the last four days and I feel the need to go North.
Wish you the best.
Do you start to feel like you're signing your name wrong? I misspell, but I pretend like nothing's wrong because I don't want to slow things down. Yeah, it's Roxxaen, why do you ask?
