HEADING BACK FROM THE TUCSON AIRPORT LATER THIS AFTERNOON
Another early start to the day. I was up at 3 a.m. to let Pheebs and Pearce out for a winkle. Beautiful night with a bright setting moon in the west. Orion was close behind. In the East were the beginnings of an early Spring sky with Libra leading the pack. In another 4 to 5 months this same morning Spring sky will be the early evening Spring Sky. Confusing?? Of course it is. It is the wonderment of the Universe.
LITTLE MOTOR LOOKED SO LONELY WHEN WE CLOSED THE GATE BEFORE HEADING TO TUCSON
Had ourselves a busy morning getting things spiffed up and organized for the arrival of my Aunt Jean from Florida today. I even washed the Jeep. Imagine that!! Shiny shiny sparkle sparkle. I knew by the time we reached the paved road a half mile away it would be all dusty dusty groovy groovy again:))
Another bonus weather day as we headed out for the Tucson Intl Airport about 12:30 taking a popular scenic route through Sonoita. Underestimated the length of time that route added to the trip and just made it into the Airport as Aunt Jean’s flight was landing. Being unfamiliar with the Airport it took us a bit of scrambling to get into the right terminal but we made it to the waiting area about 20 minutes before Jean came down the escalator.
BIT OF AN OUT OF FOCUS PHOTO OF JEAN COMING DOWN THE ESCALATOR
So great to see her because it was the summer of 09 when we last said goodbye back in Canada. Aunt Jean is my Uncle Harry’s Sister. Hugs all around and we were out the door to walk the short distance to the Jeep. Tucson has a nice simple little Airport.
AUNT JEAN’S FIRST TIME EVER IN A JEEP
COUPLE OF PHOTOS OUTSIDE OF THE TERMINAL
Within days of buying the Jeep about a year and a half ago we hauled the small back seat out of it. Today Kelly had to build herself a comfortable nest of pillows to sit on for the trip home. Not a lot of room back there but luckily Aunt Jean only brought a travel bag along bag with her. Jeeps are not known for their spacious storage capacity. We took the same Sonita scenic route home through the mountains but it just seemed to take forever to get back to the Ranch. Nice route but we won’t be using it for Tucson trips any more.
JEAN MEETS THE PHEEBS >>>
Made it back to the Ranch about half an hour before the sun dipped behind the Mule Mountains. When we had left earlier in the day Pheebe had gone and laid down near the gate under a Pine tree with her sad little head on the ground. We think she stayed there for the whole length of time we were away because she came running from the direction of that tree when we pulled up to the gate.
Kelly head made scalloped potatoes with ham before we left and not long after walking into the Ranch house we were all hungrily chowing down. So great to have Jean here with us for a week. She will be sleeping in the Ranch house with Charlie the Cat for company. She bonded right away with Pearce and Gleeson as well. And, of course the Pheebs. And, little Motor remembered Aunt Jean.
KELLY INTRODUCES JEAN TO GLEESON
Jean has an interested in the starry night skies too so it didn’t take the two of us long to slip outside and have us a look at the night sky. The brightness of a three quarter moon blotted out many of the stars but we were able to quickly find Orion, Jean’s favorite constellation.
It was a long day for all of us and I was having trouble staying awake so we all called it a day about 7 P.M. I think tomorrow will just be a relaxing day around the Ranch for all of us. I think we’ll just sit outside and soak up the warm Arizona sunshine and play with the dogs:))

After reading RETIRED ROD'S & GRANT'S comments in Wednesday’s post I sure hope our two great countries don’t go to war over the growing Shreddies/ Wheat Chex debate:((

How have you done that?
I don't know how, but every time I run through that maze and ring the bell, he gives me a piece of cheese.

The only thing better than right now will someday be the memories of
right now...AL.
Your Aunt Jean looks just delightful. How nice that you could have her for a visit there at the Ranch. Hope you enjoy a bit of stargazing together.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any idea whether Shreddies are better than Wheat Chex, but perhaps it is a developed taste, where the one you are used to seems best to you!!.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine my shredded wheat tasting like malt powder, so I have a new experience coming, that is if I ever get to Canada to purchase some.
Shreddies do seem to be an English thing as they were first available in the British Islands. But that is like so many things that started in the British lands that just never caught on in the US.
I wonder if after the war of independence and the war of 1812, settlers weren't too keen on keeping the old country traditions alive. Just speculating!
Ah! THAT was the trip to the airport.
ReplyDeleteMan, my comprehension and retention skills are slipping. I KNEW that too, but was still wondering.
Fun to have visitors. Enjoy catching up.
Aunt Jean looks like she could be a barrel of fun..enjoy your visit...and stay well Al...
ReplyDeleteI was wondering just where you Aunt was going to sleep in the MH..maybe in you bed and you on the floor with the furry kids..Nice to be able to use the Ranch house when you need to...Have a great time!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful for your Aunt Jean to come visit. so THAT was the cliffhanger! haha
ReplyDeleteI remember sitting up on that same tall stool and enjoying a glass of wine with your wonderful hosts!!!!
Sure wish we were there parked in the other spot. Sigh.

It sure was a good long day, but nice that you have company for a week, have fun.
ReplyDeleteI was worried that you were going to fly back to Canada for medical treatment when you mentioned the Tuscon airport. Welcome, Aunt Jean!
