SOUTHERN ONTARIO IS A LAND OF MANY FARMS
Kelly & I decided to tackle a clean up job in our workshop shed today. Junk had been piling up for a long time so today was the day!! I am positive that every time we take stuff to the dump it is somehow returned in the middle of the night by the dump staff. Happy to say we made great headway with a fair bit going to the Goodwill & lots going back to the dump.......again!!
THE CLEAN-UP IS UNDER WAY
Remember me telling you about the small notebooks I have been carrying in my shirt pockets for the best part of the last 28 years? I have one in my pocket right now & it is my way of keeping myself organized by writing things down so I don't forget stuff. Well, for whatever reason I have always saved those little black notebooks & today I came across some of them dating back to 1985. It's a real trip down memory lane for me glancing through these books.
Years ago I put a lot of old photos, slides & old memorabilia into a large plastic container, put the lid on it, shoved it into a far corner of the shed & promptly forgot about it. Well, with the rediscovery of that bin & subsequent lifting of that plastic lid today I was instantly transported back to another era of my life. To a time very unlike my life today. So many old memories & so many old friends who are gone now. Yes, it's true, I used to be a very sociable guy with a whole lot of friends:)) But, that's another whole story for another time. Priority today was the shed so I will get back to that large plastic container another day.
LOVE TRAVELING THE BACK ROADS ON MY MOTORCYCLE
As mentioned a few days ago, I do have a Facebook account but rarely use it for anything other than automatically posting our blog each day. I don’t respond to game requests or get into any kind of that stuff. I do see a lot of other RV Bloggers in there. This morning I received a message from another RV Blogger saying I had an offensive picture on my Facebook site. It’s one of the main reasons I do not get involved with the whole Facebook thingy as a rule. I still think Facebook is a good communication tool but boy oh boy, ya sure gotta be careful about all the rats in the closet everywhere!! Kelly & I both looked for the offensive picture but we never did find it.
In a note from her Dad, Mary Ann shared his positive ATTITUDE ABOUT CANCER on her blogsite recently. Cancer has touched so many of us in one way or another. We either know someone with cancer or have lost someone to cancer. And, I know there are fellow RV Bloggers out here right now who have dealt or are dealing with cancer on a daily personal basis.
BAYFIELD IS A SUMMERTIME PLAYGROUND FOR YOUNG & OLD
Now, a slight confession. I don’t really like Burritos all that much. In fact, I don’t really care for any kind of Mexican food. Too beany, spicy & mushy for me. I just figure a McDonald’s Burrito is the least harmful thing for me & the Kid for a quick drive thru breakfast snack when we’re in town. There are small bits of sausage in the Burritos that little Cora likes & I end up choking down the scrambled egg & flat bread part. I think me & the Kid will have to come up with a better plan if this little breakfast club of ours is to continue!!
OUR BIG HOSTA IS IN BLOOM
KEVIN & RUTH just wrapped up a trip around the Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island & they have the numbers in for the month of June. Gasoline, groceries, maintenance, etc. Having tried out Google Adsense & some Chitika ads on their site Kevin has come to some conclusions about his blog ads.

The only thing better than right now will someday be the memories of right
now...... AL.
Pack your own snacks. i think the little motormouse just wants to go for a ride with you.
ReplyDeleteit's good to clean things up once in a while!..nice to get rid of unwanted items and great to find some old memories!
ReplyDeleteYou 'used to be' a very sociable guy? Come on, Al, give it up! I think it's still in you no matter how much you eschew otherwise. :)
ReplyDeleteI tend to agree about the burritos...UGH
It amazes me how much stuff we can accumulate in the RV. We just made another trip to Good Will with a back seat full of stuff. And I honestly don't think I'm buying anything so I have to agree, somebody is returning it when I'm not looking. Our girls love eggs, so we usually just get them an egg to share for breakfast.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of "stuff". (I was going to say "junk", but to each his own), many years ago we bought the house from my late father-in-law. It's a well built house, all that kind of thing, but the problem was, he was a bit of a "collector"? I can't even begin to explain. But many years ago when one of my sisters-in-law was still living at home, she would try her luck at cleaning up when he was away at work on afternoons at GE.
ReplyDeleteProblem was, he would dutifully bring the stuff back in from the curb when he came home from work!
I think she maybe needed to somehow get out there first thing in the morning or something, but I don't think that would have worked either.
She just gave up. Of course, I had to subsequently deal with it all many years later. Oy.
So, that so called "mess" in your shed? *ppft!*
That's NOTHING!! Trust me.
Move a couple things around, and you're good to go!
I keep records like that too Al, I keep it on larger notebook, but I have them for years and years back. Don't ask me why, I just do it and I found out my Mother did the same thing,
ReplyDeleteWe always pack our little snack lunches of mostly fruit, cheese and vegies. Do that where ever we go and never ever stop at a fast food place or a resturant of any kind....and that is really a never. Works for us...
I enjoy your blog!
I love a good burrito, but McDonald's is the last place I'd look for anything good! The coffee is tolerable though.
ReplyDeleteI think you are still a real sociable guy..through your fingertips..that's how you do it now!!
ReplyDeleteLOVED the pic of your collection of worn old black notebooks! Kinda a Crudmudgeon Diary?

I would have hung on to those notepads as well. In fact I still have a notebook I used from 1969 to 1972.
ReplyDeleteNotes and pictures are my best shot at remember in a lot of my past:)
I also had some of those notebooks which were filled with notes from various trips that I had taken. I went through them and wrote Journal Pages for my web site, added pictures that I was also 'saving' and then threw all the hard copy away.
ReplyDeleteI like storing all of that in digital form on my web site rather that the physical items.
