HOT HUMID DAYS ARE UPON US

Copy of DSC_0012

WE ARE FORTUNATE TO LIVE BESIDE ONE OF THE LARGEST FRESH WATER LAKES IN THE WORLD....LAKE HURON

We had ourselves a real smasher of a storm come through in the night that left tree limbs down & our whole area without power from about 4 to 8 a.m. this morning.  A few roads closed due to fallen trees.  The lightning was non stop as were the continuous sharp claps of thunder.  Torrential rains had water running down our driveway.  Been a long time since we had a severe storm like that go through.

Kelly headed off to Cambridge early to see her daughter & two 'Grands.'   I was hoping to begin painting the porch steps but they were too rain soaked from the overnight storm.

Little Cora & I hopped into the Jeep & headed for Goderich & a few groceries.  A drive down to the harbor, a stop at the beach & we were home again by 11.  The heavy humidity began settling in around noon & that was enough of being outside for me.

It seems Google has been busy while we have been sleeping.  You might want to check your Blogger Dashboard if you haven't done so recently.  For some of us, maybe not all, that Dashboard has changed.  It is all part of changes at Google & you can read about it here... BLOGGER REDESIGNED.  I stumbled across the change by accident Monday night & the total redesign threw me for a loop because nothing was like it was.  The night was late & I didn't have the patience to try & re-familiarize & figure everything out then but I sat down & had a second look at it today.  Everything is still there but now you have to find it & re-acquaint yourself with it again because the format is completely different.  I would suggest folks do that now before you have a problem down the road & have to go to the Dashboard......& find it all ker-fuddled.  Only thing I don't like is the lighter printing on white backgrounds, etc.  I find dark bolder printing on a slightly colored background much easier to read.

I almost hate to mention this for fear of jinxing myself but I am about to enter day 4 of, ‘no peanut butter & honey sandwiches.’ In my last two trips to town I went right by McDonalds & Tim Horton’s & I’ve been working at changing some other eating habits as well. Just gotta get rid of this excess weight & that’s all there is to it!!

At the bottom of our right hand column I have added some interesting weather trivia such as...the top 10 Hurricane & Tornado States across America.  Where does it get the hottest & coldest.  Who gets the most snow.  What cities are prone to hail.  Who gets the most sun in a year, the most rain or the most dry days.  Lots of interesting trivia there....if your interested:))  Just head that-away >>>>>>>>>>Copy of DSC_7671

  1. So far, my dashboard remains the same, but now I'm prepared to be agravated. :) Google did give me fits this morning when I tried to do some commenting. It wouldn't let me. Ugh!

  2. My dashboard is the same too. It is my entry point and I check other blogs using my reading list.

  3. Oh man do I love Peanut Butter & Honey sandwiches...
The weather this season seems to be very ominous. Heat here just outside Atlanta has been in mid 90's over a week with no change in sight.
Glad you had no damage to your home with all those storms.
    take care & be safe.reardlen

  5. The sailboat photos are stunning! Thanks for sharing.

I'm going to have to keep that groaner to use on my grandkids...love it!!

I always thought peanut butter was a health food!

  6. Peanut butter and honey with maybe a banana thrown in once in awhile. Oh yes. We had a terrible storm go through last night - three tornadoes touched down but they were all out in the country (about 15 miles) and didn't do much damage. Thank goodness. Loved your weather statistics. That was fun reading.

  7. Those sailboat pictures sure make me feel nostalgic.

It seems that nothing can remain the same for any length of time. Blogger, like the rest of the world seems to think that change is always better than the status quo.

  11. Absolutely beautiful photos! I particularly like the second pic down, must be the framing that catches my eye, very nice. Glad you put the weather facts up, really interesting.

I am sorry to hear you have stopped eating the Peanut Butter and Honey sandwiches Al; we Honey producers need you back on our team.

  13. Enjoying your blog! I grew up just across the lake from you (Sandusky, Michigan -- 15 miles in from Port Sanilac) and now live in Tucson, AZ.

    You are an amazing photographer!

  14. We agree with John about your second picture -- from what I understand, it is just about techically perfect - level horizon at the one third level, main subject at the proper 1/3 X 1/3 point, and heading into the picture, color stunning! Our Blogger dashboard hasn't changed yet - we can wait. Since you've stopped the peanut butter and honey sandwiches, now it is time (maybe?) to switch to peanut butter and onion -- fewer calories, fine taste!

  15. We saw just a trace of rain here in the Black hills the other evening ourselves... Like to scared Ms Pat and me to death!! We actually had not seen any rain yet this YEAR!! Can you believe that? It has been DRY in AZ.....

I sure hope we don't get HAIL. That brins us to our knee's in a new York minute..
    Nice Blog and Pictures AL!!

  16. Al, just remember.....peanut butter and honey are both natural healthy foods....especially if it's Jif peanut butter!! I like peanut butter on my waffles, and also on my pancakes. My grand kids think that's weird.....but not as bad as ketchup on pancakes, which I sometimes have!

Please don't be smitten with the "thin is in" idea! You'll have to buy a whole new wardrobe, and that's just not right!! I firmly (well, maybe not so "firmly") believe that we've all been given our fair share of "fat cells", and it's our responsibility to use them as best we can, since they just won't go away!! I've read several studies where experts have agreed that it's quite easy for most people to lose weight....but they just don't keep it off. If that's the case, then why bother to lose it in the first place! I used to struggle with losing weight, all the time. Now, I've finally reached the point that I'm so old and fat that I'm never going to be "in style" again, so what difference would it make anyway?!?! I say.....as long as I can still get in and out of the motorhome door, I'm doing alright!!
