A FILE PHOTO I TOOK IN MAY OF 2009. THIS LITTLE FELLOW WAS IN THE FRONT YARD OF A FARM NEAR US. HE REMAINED THERE FOR THE WHOLE SUMMER.............
It was the bird feeder’s that got me out of the house this morning. They needed refilling. Clouds finally dissipated about 9 & we were bathed in welcome sunshine. Didn’t take me long to get myself into ‘outside mode.’
Continued with the Motor Home clean up so it was good to have something constructive to focus on. It was a much better Wednesday morning than the two previous Wednesday mornings.
The squirrels win the bird feeder war every Spring & this year is no exception. One suet feeder is totally missing & two feeders have been irreparably smashed. No matter what I do they figure out a way to undo me. Very frustrating & there’s just no winning against them pesky critters!!
I have mentioned watching a television program a couple times in some past blogs & a reader has asked, what is CORNER GAS. This is a very typical Canadian half hour situation comedy. I like it because the humor is simple & done in an older 50’s & 60’s style that still works today. Great cast & the fact that the show doesn’t have a phony laugh track attached to it is a big plus for me. If you click on the link it will explain CORNER GAS.
My posts may be a little shorter for awhile until I can work my way through the events of the past couple weeks & get myself back on track & into the swing of things again. Thanks to the folks who have hung in here with me through these dark days..............
GROANER’S CORNER:(( As I was walking to the drugstore, I said to this guy standing on the corner "Are you a pole-vaulter?" and he replied "No, I'm German...... and how did you know my name was Walter?"

ReplyDeleteThat header picture of the pine cones is amazing. Such a simple shot, but you captured it perfectly!
ReplyDeleteAl uses a pole with a baffle on it to keep the squirrels out of the birdfeeder....it works great.
Am I correct in remembering Buffalo Bob Smith as the MC for that show..And was there a Bulah the Witch...or did I just dream that.? Glad your the Bayfield Bunch's collective heart is slowly mending...
ReplyDeleteMy friend put a pole in his back yard with a bird feeder on top of it, then he put GREASE on the pole and sat back and watched the squirles try to get up it!! It was hilarious!!
ReplyDeleteThat sure would take your "mind" off STUFF Al.... Cheer's
Love your photos and your writing -- even the abbreviated ones while you're still working through the last few weeks. Always remember that there are a number of us who understand and are wishing easier times soon for you & Kelly.

I had to go back to find the daffodils in the picture of the kid on the swing. See? Unless your eyes are totally open, you miss something! That was a sturdy kid, to sit on that swing so long with a smile on his face and his hand waving at you!
ReplyDeleteLove your photos as always and like Karen said the pine cones where very nice. Glad your doing a little better.... I know you've had a rough few weeks!
ReplyDeleteTake care

ReplyDeleteThanks for the link - I'll have to check out Canadian Comedy!!
ReplyDeleteI liked your Groaner's Corner today...my Grandpa was German and he could never get hie "w"s and "v"s straight.
Great photos as always. Loved the little guy at the top.
At our home, the "rats with tails" do no damage to the feeders, they just eat the seed and suet. Our problem is the possums and the raccoons wrecking the feeders overnight. What a drag those pests are!
ReplyDeleteSunshine is such a great healer of the soul. There just has to be a way to win the war with the squirrels. But I sure don't know what it is. Good luck anyhow.
