Another cloudy cold & rainy morning. I think this Spring will have to go down on record as the worst Spring of ever!! I had sat up late Sunday night & watched the President’s announcement about the death of Osama Bin Laden so this morning I watched CNN for further details. I still have a little bit of 'News Hound' left in me.
The rain quit around 9 & I headed off to Goderich for some groceries. Returning home I was spurred into a cleaning mode when the sun finally broke through the heavy cloud cover. We have been home over a month now but other than unloading the Motor Home we hadn’t done any real cleaning yet. Yard work took priority & cold weather rainy weather was the other excuse for not getting at all the cleaning.
Spent a lot of time vacuuming & cleaning the kitchen area including the fridge & stove. The Southwest is a very dusty place & when your boondocking most of the time in sand, clay & gravel it doesn’t take long for things to get dirty. Especially when we had 12 furry paws going in & out continuously every day.
By the time I finished cleaning this afternoon the rig was starting to look kinda civilized again. I vacuumed up enough dog fur out of the carpet to probably put together another dog. I went over the carpets 3 separate times & it occurred to me while vacuuming that now we could probably take the majority of that carpet out of there & put in a wood or tile floor which would be far easier to keep clean. Couldn’t do that before because Max always had trouble walking on flat slippery surfaces.
I found it sad at times today in the rig as I remembered all the great RVing times we had with the 2 big doggy guys over the last bunch of years. However, I couldn’t let myself dwell on the memories because they brought tears to my eyes so I kept myself focused on the cleaning at hand.
WHEN'S MOM COMING HOME DAD??
I started on the passenger side bins as well, first vacuuming out the dust & sand & then hosing them down & then wiping them dry. Now, if we could just reload the rig right away & hit the road again I would…………..ok, better not go there:((
Kelly’s Mother is getting around a bit with a walker but she has not been faring well with all the pain meds. A series of unfavorable reactions to the meds has kept Kelly very busy. Her Mother’s appetite is gone as well. Hopefully things will begin to improve soon.
Looks like another cold rainy day tomorrow so I will try to keep myself in a positive mood & continue with the Motor Home clean-up. Also intend on getting down to see my Uncle Harry in Mitchell over the next few days as well.

ReplyDeleteWhen you're done with your rig, I have a Challenger that could sure use a good clean out. Just in case you have more energy than you know what to do with.
ReplyDeleteHope Kelly's Mom starts feeling better soon.
the motorhome is looking mighty 'spiffy'!!!..and hitting the road again sounds like it might be a good idea..but it's not time yet... you have to be patient.
ReplyDeleteGreat frog on frog pic! I bet the orioles are not happy about the squirrel chowing down on the orange sections. :(
ReplyDeleteWhat the heck is that steering wheel in the chair?
Hope Kelly's Mom will adjust to the pain meds, and do better so Kelly can return home to you and Cora.
Hey Al... it is not that far over here to Woodstock... our Gulf Stream still has a bunch of Death Valley Sand in it!
ReplyDeleteAny alligators in that murky pond???
ReplyDeleteLOL WE just started our motorhome cleanout yesterday too! Steveio brought out the big household sized vac cleaner and got 2 full containers outta the carpeting of a certain orangey-red dusty sand... Hmmmm wonder where that came from?

Know that we are still thinking of you guys and keep us posted on Kelly's Mom--saying a prayer for her!
ReplyDeleteTell Uncle Harry his friends in the States said hello, your rig is looking good, and yes the carpets they use sure do soak up dirt and dog hair, it is a never ending battle, especially with a big lab, be safe out there. Sam & Donna..
ReplyDeleteNice water photos Al.
ReplyDeleteKeep looking forward and things will keep getting better.
I consider my RV a time machine. Inside the RV is the present and like your blog it is right now and that is all we have. Out the front windshield is the future where we are headed and out the back window is the past where we came from.
Enjoy right now and spend more time on the future than the past.
The motorhome is looking good. Great shot of the squirrel stealing the orange slice.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Kelly's Mom for a good recovery.
And speaking of not succeeding on the first try, it is an absolute truth that when there's a 50/50 chance of getting it right, 90% of the time you'll get it wrong!
